For the 2016 MLB season, all pages on DailybaseballData.com and RotoGuru.com will continue to be available without cost when presented in HTML format – the format typically used to view web pages in your browser.

Some of these reports are also available in a text-only format, suitable for importing or copying into a spreadsheet or other analytical platform. This format allows the user to populate a spreadsheet or database with information for home-grown analysis.

Beginning May 2nd, access to all text format reports for the 2016 season will be subject to a subscription fee. The fee to access all 2016 data files is $35 for the entire season. Files included in this subscription include:

All of the listed reports and text files are updated daily throughout the 2016 regular season and post season. For the one-time price of $35, you will have access to any or all of these files each day.

To subscribe, click the "Buy Now" button.

Subscription price for
all 2016 season data is $35.

Terms of use: An annual subscription grants the rights to a single user to access the data file for personal use for the 2016 MLB season, including the postseason. A single user may access the file from different computers (with different IP addresses). Each authorized user will be provided with a unique username and access key. An authorized user may not give or sell these credentials (or the content of any data file) to any other user. Each access of the file will be logged, and suspicious activity will be investigated. Excessive accesses may be limited at the discretion of the provider. Commercial usage or reproduction of the data file is prohibited. Inquiries about suspicious or excessive activity will be sent to the user at the email address provided by that user. Unacceptable responses to such inquiries (or failure to respond) may result in revocation of the access privileges for the user's credentials.
Note: your transaction will be with Uncommon Cents, LLC - the owner and operator of RotoGuru and DailyBaseballData.com

Frequently asked questions

Can I access a trial file before deciding to subscribe?

Prior to May 2nd, all files will be available for free.

Beginning May 2nd, unauthorized accesses will generate sample (incomplete) files.

I entered my username and access key above to log in. Now what?

The Log in processes places a cookie in your browser that will grant you access to the files. As long as your browser is set up with cookies enabled, you should be able to access each report by going to the URL for that report.

Cookies are browser-specific, so if you want to access reports in a different browser (or on a different computer), you’ll need to log in on that computer. You’ll also need to log in again if your cookies are cleared or deleted.

If you are trying to access a file without the benefit of cookies, then you will need to append your username and accesskey to the URL. For example, to access the master file, the authorized URL would be
http://rotoguru1.com/cgi-bin/mlb-dbd-2016.pl?user=usernname&key=accesskey
(Of course, you will need to insert your own username and key values.)

Will I still be able to access these files after the 2016 season has ended?

Yes. This subscription covers data for the 2016 season, but you will still be able to access the master file and daily results files after the 2016 season has ended.

How do I copy the data into a spreadsheet?

In Excel: First, copy the data into a spreadsheet column. Then, while the data is highlighted, select Data -> Text to columns -> delimited ->Next and then select either the semi-colon or the colon (other) as the delimiter. Click Finish, and the data will be parsed into columns, with headings at the top of each column.

Why don’t any of the files include raw stats – like hits, home runs, strikeouts, etc.?

Raw stats are obtained by DailyBaseballData and RotoGuru under a licensing agreement with SportRadar US. The terms of this license prohibit the reproduction of these stats in a manner that would make the provider a competitor of SportRadar. As such, I cannot reproduce these basic stats in any of the text-formatted files.

When is the data updated?

The master file and sortable stats file are updated overnight, and should be available by 5am ET. Daily results files are updated throughout each game day at approximately 15 minute intervals. BvP files are available up to 6 days in advance – although salary and position data always reflect the current day.

Will a subscription be less expensive later in the season?

No. The master file actually becomes more valuable as the season advances, since more and more data is included. Even if you wait until the end of the season, $35 is good value for data of this depth, breadth, detail, and convenience.

Is prior season data available?

A 2015 master file, similar in format to the 2016 master file, is available for free:
http://rotoguru1.com/cgi-bin/mlb-dbd-2015.pl.

Daily results files are available for some formats for some past seasons. These prior year files are also free to access.
Use the menu on the daily results page to access data from prior seasons.

Sortable Stats files and Batter-vs-Pitcher files are not archived and historical files are not available.

I already subscribed to access an NBA data file this winter. Does that subscription include this MLB data as well?

No. That subscription was only for a specific NBA data file related to the 2015-16 NBA season, and is separate and distinct from this MLB subscription. For more information on the NBA file and the related subscription, click here.
