And, for those who like to plan ahead, here is a lengthy list of early commitments for the John Deere Classic. (Caveat - some of these guys will undoubtedly renege. But, it's better than nothing.)

Two weeks out, here is the entry list for the British Open.

Based on a quick scan, there are six players who are listed in all three tournaments - for those who are trying to conserve some trades (and most of us are):

Arjun Atwal
Zach Johnson
Shigeki Maruyama
Vijay Singh
Andre Stolz
Tjaart Van der Walt

That list offers a range of cheap through expensive golfers.

I did some Q&D analysis on the trading needs of GuruGolf teams heading into the Western Open.

There are three teams that will need to buy 2 trades in order to field 4 active golfers this week. All four of their current golfers are off this week, and they have only 2 (free) trades to work with.

There are 20 teams that will need to buy 1 trade to field a fully active foursome.

The first extra trade costs $100, and the second extra trade costs $200. It will be interesting to see how these teams handle the predicament.

I think I would always opt to buy one trade. If I select a good choice, I can recover a good portion of the cost (or all of it).

But spending $200 for the second trade becomes more situational. I guess it would depend on my foursome's outlook two weeks ahead, and the quality of my team if I chose to stay with only 3 active golfers.

Looks like Vijay Singh and Maruyama will be on everybody's roster.

Tjaar Van Der Walt, Andre Stolz? What rock did these guys crawl out from under? Never heard of them.

I was looking for a new fantasy game but this is to RICH for my blood!!

The first extra trade costs $100, and the second extra trade costs $200.

TSN only charges a dollar per trade.

never mind, I just figured out the people on the list are the ones in the field. I was just curious to see where you had Oberholser priced.

I didn't remember having to field a team with so many spares starting out in TSN. Tough draw.

Guru - Thanks for all the field information provided in the links above. These really assist me when putting my weekly roster together.

Even though we are aware that any advance field information is tentative at best, would there be any possiblility of you considering adding a few extra columns on the 'manage roster' and 'price list' pages that would indicate the next couple of tournaments and the whether the player is tentatively in the field or not.

Not that it is that difficult without this tool.

Thanks.

JeffG - that information is so tenuous and so difficult to find that I'm reluctant to try to build it in as a standard feature. However, if someone wants to try to put out a list here, that's certainly fine. In the past, others have provided that kind of info on occasion.

Having two fairly complete commitment lists this week is very unusual.

I guess we have a field list two tourneys out this time is only because the one after next week is a major. Always easier to see who is expected for the field for those due to they way golfers qualify for those.

246 teams have been created since the first official tournament. 174 teams have 4 active golfers this week. Many of the teams with less than 4 actives are probably dormant, but some are not. Some teams opted to go with 1 or 2 inactive golfers rather than spending for the extra trade(s).

A little more insight on roster activity:

39 rosters haven't been touched since the U.S. Open. Those are probably permanently abandoned.

14 additional rosters were not touched after the Booz Allen Classic. One of those already had 4 actives this week. Of the other 13, none appeared to be trade-constrained, so these teams are either abandoned, or perhaps the manager just forgot.

That leaves 20 teams that did have activity this week, but that still have less than 4 actives. 15 of those teams used all of their free trades, but did not buy extras. Included are three teams that have only 2 active golfers this week. The other 17 teams have 3 active golfers.

Extra trades
Only one team bought 2 extra trades this week. 12 teams bought one extra trade.

Loren Roberts seems to be the round 1 guy to have, whereas Zack Johnson (+3) and Shaun Micheel (+2) are two popular picks that could be in some trouble.

My live scoring feeds don't appear to have updated for about an hour - at least for some golfers. The problem is with the source, not with my program.

Hopefully, the constipation will break soon.

Those straight par shooters like that will kill you! I used to like Lefty so much because he would always go for it. I would much rather be at Even after 7 with 4 birds, 2 bogeys and a double ;)

What was more impressive youngroman is you wound up with a -10 over the remaining 11 holes :)

Unless otherwise specified by the tournament, a normal cutline is Top 70 and ties. (Or changed by the PGA due the weather related problems of the current ongoing tournament)

Should be very interesting with 4 of the top 6 picks in VJ, Mayfair, Johnson, and Micheel all battling to make the cut. Johnson and Micheel are currently below the +1 line (guess it moved back already) and Johnson at +3 and Micheel at +2 are both below it but well within range of making it.

Was very happy with Woody Austin in the first round... then he played like Woody Woodpecker in round 2.

Oops. At least my other three (Vijay, Howell, Mayfair) are around for the weekend. 3 out of 4 to the weekend seems to be my pattern so far.
