G'day everybody it's time for footy to take us in its grip again. This Saturday night sees PORT ADELAIDE (yesssss) going against Brisbane in the pre season, Ansett Cup, Grand Final. The game is at Football Park, so if I can get my study out the way, I'll be at the game downing stubbie after stubbie, well cup after cup anyway, perving at choon and cheering my boys onto a great victory.
The first game of the regular season is on March 30, so we better get our arses into gear.
I hope everybody is returning this season and we need to make a decision about our choice of fantasy game this week. The tipping comp will be on again too!!

Frank p, I took great pleasure in landing on the AFL site and discovering the beloved Power are in the Ansett Cup Final. The match being played in Football Park should make victory like a 3 inch tap-in, right. I'll be tipping Port. How accurate a measure is the pre-season, I do see the Champion Bombers went 0-3 in their group?

edperl, the Ansett cup is a reasonable indicator of form. Last year the four teams from the Ansett Cup semi-finals were also the last four in the regular season. Having said that, I should also say that Essendon are not going to lose every game in the season. They will be dominant again.

We just bought a new fridge which holds two slabs on the top shelf with room to spare....could be dangerous.

Good to hear from you again G infinity.

Frank, I assume "slabs" means cases of beer. If so, I say "job well done" in choosing the fridge. We had one of those small fridges when I was in college, but I still managed to fit 98, yes 98, beers in there.
Have we chosen a definite fantasy site yet? I want to get my team picked. I suppose that we can do the AFL game again if we have to, but something that allows trades would be a lot better. If we use the site edperl proposed we'll just have to keep our own "division" stats since they don't have divisions. Shouldn't be too tough.
That being said, I plan to down more than my share of brews this week, as my buddy from Sunny Las Vegas is in town. You may notice fewer posts, since I likely won't be able to read the keys this week. ;-)

Is there a consensus as to which site we are going to use?

I think as a safety net we ought to enter the old AFL league as well as try the new site. As I mentioned before, when you enter your team on the new site you have to be ready to select your entire roster or it will not acknowledge you if you do it partially and try to return.

Perhaps frank p could post some roster assistance, i.e. who the relable studs are at each position, and those available that are injured or no longer in the AFL.

Yes, Hatters, we are talking about that league. It was fun, but the lack of trading is the downside. You're certainly welcome to join our division. It should be a good year.

thanks rugg........
i'm not so sure though if the lack of trading is a downside.... it makes the game a little more real......as if you have your own squad of 40 players and you can't trade during the season.
It also makes picking your team all the more important and separates the good players from those that pick useless players and then trade to people playing well. Sure you get more injuries and get hurt from suspensions ocasionally but thats part of the game...
