Anybody know when games will be in the U.S.? Fox Sports World only lists 1 game next Thursday the 5th and then the next listed isn't until the 13th. |

The following I got from afana.com dated Feb. 22 which I hope is helpful (Click on TV coverage): (Note also that this may be old news.) 'FOX SPORTS WORLD web site stated on Feb 16 that Assuie Rules Football returns to Fox Sports World beginning April 5th at 11pm. Stay tuned for more details.' The AFL stated this : 'FSW are very keen for this year and will be paying a substantial amount for the rights.' It also states that the 1 hour and 2 hour hightlights programs will be available again including the Grand Final live. To answer your quesation, it states that the 1 hour hightlights and 2 hour condensed Match of the Week will begin the week following round 1. On a related note, it also states that there are rumors that FSW might be converted into a full time NACAR channel this summer (possible start date on June 1). This would be terrible for those of us that rely on FSW.

I really like NASCAR, but that would be tragic! FSW is my favorite channel. They can't hook me on international soccer, rugby, and other sports and then leave me hanging! Say it ain't so, Rupert! :(

I sent the folks at FSW an email about the rumors you passed on, PT. Here's the transcript:
The Beezer: I have recently heard rumors that Fox Sports World was going to be taken down and replaced with a NASCAR channel. As someone who is a huge fan of your channel, I hope that this is not true. I have been enjoying being able to follow the EPL, the other major soccer leagues, rugby, and your other fine international sports programming, and am stoked for your upcoming Aussie Rules coverage. Heck, I pay for DISH Networks' 150 package instead of 100 just to get your channel! Please keep up the great work, and I hope to be able to enjoy FSW for many years to come.
FSW: FOR SURE NOT! There may be a NASCAR channel someday, but not replacing World! Don't worry!
Exclamations marks and capitalizations are from their response. Makes me feel better, at least! :)

Beezer, thanks for the follow-up investigative work. FSW is an essential item that many of us can not afford to lose. Perhaps we should now have you use your investigative techniques against edperl's clearly flawed ozsports cite :)

No way - I got home from another night at the mill last night and was deelighted to be able to root for the lions in their heartbreaking loss to the Power. Great game at the end. "slow start but then it became a real cracker!". I also noted the sheelacking a few teams dished out in this opening round. Yikes. It would be a shame to drop a fun physical sport like footy for a bunch of mullet headed couch riding rednecks. Again the triumph of marketing over taste.
