Round 21 Friday August 24 Tigers v Kangaroos at MCG
Saturday August 25 Blues v Magpies at MCG Eagles v Bombers at Subiaco Bulldogs v Power at Colonial Stadium
Sunday August 26 Cats v Lions at Shell Stadium Swans v Saints at SCG Demons v Dockers at Colonial Stadium Crows v Hawks at Football Park
Frank p is your resume up to date? These people need a pro like yourself:
*Colonial Surface Under Fire Again Port's Gavin Wanganeen is one of several players again to criticize the playing surface of Colonial. He said the hard ground caused him to pull up very sore after games there. He also said areas of the ground were nothing but sand painted green to look like grass.
Four rounds to go, gotta start diffentiating picks to topple our leader Rugg!

OK, edperl, I'll go first! Start your differntiation pick machine now. There are some tough games again. Here goes; Ladies first:
Roos Blues Eagles Port Lions Saints Dockers Hawks
Now for something a little more eightish:
Roos-playing for pride. Pies-blues are hurting Dons-This should be ugly. Port-Great game. edperl will definitely go with the dogs. Lions-Can they be beaten? Swans-Redemption. Demons-This will be closer than you think. Crows-Hawks grounded without Crawford.

I sense a touch of hostility. I guess that is to be expected as Secretariat measures his opposition for the stretch run. Here goes, I just need to pick off one or two each week. Tiges Blues Power Scottie West is my hero, but succombs to the Power this week. Bombs away Demons Swans Crows Lions

Well, what week it's been. First I lose my job, then I lose first place (by total). Now I have to complete two papers which will fill my weekend with joy. The first one is a report on teenage suicide, the second is a discussion on the environmental and health implications of the Chernobyl accident/incident/disaster. Looks like I'm really going to have to drown my sorrows on Sat. night with many Coopers fine beers.
Now here's the winning eight. Richmond Carlton Essendon Bulldogs :( Adelaide Brisbane.....beware the cats for this one Melbourne Sydney. That should get me back on top very quickly. :) Good luck everybody and I'll ogle some choon, wolf down a snag and knock the top of a couple of coldies for you all.

Not a bad differentiation pick, rugg. I wasn't confident in their ability to pull this one out, but if you're looking to gamble that would have been a good time, regardless of the outcome.

Looks like I'm the only sap that thinks the Pies have a chance, too. I can't afford to lose the first two tips of the week!

Well this just blows. As I sit here I'm listening to the live audio feed of the Blues-Pies game and it is currently a 17 point lead for the Blues. For some reason I don't think the Pies will pull it off. I gotta say, though, this is definitely entertaining to listen to. Sure is hard to follow everything closely, since I don't know the 'half-square' and 'pocket' and 'boundry lines', etc. enough. Damn, blues scored again. The funny thing that Jim Plunkett kicked the goal. I liked him better as a quarterback in the NFL. Looks like my reign at the top was short. Frank, you're back! 70,212 is the attendance. Wow. Must be a heck of a good time to be at one of those games. Oh well, sorry for my rambling as I listen to the game. I would say good luck to you all on the rest of the games, but I wouldn't mean it. :))

Frank p, that's what we get for picking against Port. I'd be really happy with 7 if it wasn't for PD and I believe edperl (not sure, still working on the nicknames fellas) scoring the "faith 8". Penance for lack of faith is 3 Our Fathers and 6 Cooper's.

Beezer, a confesion: I actually have had to write down the towns and nicknames, and have them taped to my wall next to the computer.
Whenever I go on Oz Tips or other sites they use only the nicknames. On the AFL site, the tipping comp uses only the town names. Hard to translate sometimes, this being only my second year.
