I don't know if you guys want to continue tipping this week, I'll understand if you decide not to. I would also like to offer my condolences to all my dear friends on these boards and to my many other American friends all over the USA. My wishes and thoughts are with you all.

This weeks games are:
Carlton v Richmond
Port v Hawthorn
You should allocate 4 points and 2 points, depending on which team your most confident will win.

Thanks for the kind words, Frank. Most people are over the shock, and are ready for an announcement that our military has struck back at someone. It's all weird.

I feel strongly, though, that terrorism works by disrupting our way of life. We can't give terror it's only real tool. I hope sports comes back soon to show that the American way is to get right back up after a knockdown.

Screw 'em! We're tipping. I will not let those bastards change how I act. That being said, The mrs. and I disagree on this week's tips. She picks the Tigers (4) and the Hawks (2) and I'm going with the Blues (4) and Port (2).

I agree with Perm Dude completely. Get our sports back on track. Show the world we can't be beaten. I think it's extremely important as well for many Americans to gather together. It's key for healing and a show of sloidarity. It will be very moving at that first ball game or race or whatever event when everyone has their flags and cheers that anthem like we haven't done so in years. I noticed that many of my neighbors have bought flags and put them up. This is something that I did the day I moved in my house. Every single American household should have a flag, no matter what. It's a shame that so many people are just now getting flags. But I hope the flags will fly high and proud for a long time.
Now let's go kick some ass.

Thanks Frank for your comments; I am in total agreement with my fellow countrymen. One of the great things about sports, and footy in particular, is how much it takes our mind off the trial and turbulations of life. Although our thoughts and prayers may be elsewhere, it will be nice to spend a couple hours listening to footy this weekend. And with rugg's aply put "Screw 'em," here are my tips:
Port (4)
Carlton (2)

Some things that footy could do to show solidarity:

1. An agreed-to 1/3 less tripping during matches.
2. Only light beer consumed after the first period.
3. After particularly flagrant fouls, the person being hit is allowed to yell: "You friggin' bin Laden, you!"
4. Use of an American-style football during the first five minutes of each match.
5. Winning teams' fans agree to clean up, rather than cause, rubble in the street.
6. Donations of blood. Before the matches only.
7. Send over that crocodile guy to look down in the subways for people still awaiting rescue.
8. Port allowed to win in a walkover as they are "America's Team."
9. At the first sign of trouble in the terrorists' compound, an Aussie rules squad is sent in first to "soften them up."

Much like in Footy, the terrorists may think they have gotten away with one, but everyone eventually faces the Tribunal. (What's left of them that is)
