Ms Pez and The Beezer have set the tipping world alight. They are clear leaders after another perfect round.
Ms Pez........12 The Beezer..12 PTiger.......10 Frank p.......4 Rugg..........0 Perm Dude.....0 edperl........0
This week Brisbane and Essendon play off in the Grand Final in Melbourne. This makes it an away game for Brisbane, but that hasen't worried them so far. This weeks tipping comp requires you to do two things. 1. Pick the winner for 10 points or lose 10 points if you get it wrong. 2. Pick the point margin between the two sides. This is just for a tie breaker if needs be. |

Wow, so much pressure! Once again, Fox Sports World will be carrying the Grand Final live at 11pm EDT on September 28. Unfortunately, I'll be at work at that time. :(
I guess I'm going to have to go with Essendon to beat Brisbane, but I think it will be an excellent match. In the all-important tie-breaker department, I will pick Essendon to win by 12 points. I guess it's now on the fair Ms. Pez to decide if this tipping comp will be decided by the victor or the point margin.

Ahh, the sweet sight of zero! My goal is to finish above the dismal display of edperl in last year's finals tipping. ;) As Ms Pez is in Chicago this morning, I will post only my tip now. I just don't think anyone can stop the Lions train. I have to tip the Lions, by 16. Good luck to the rest of you. The final should be fantastic, but alas, I will be up in Wisconsin near Green Bay, without the benefit of Fox Sports World. Of course, I'll tape the game so I can watch it on Sunday night. One good thing about being a footy fan in the States is there's very little chance of hearing about the score before getting a chance to watch a taped game.:-)

She's back, and she wants the Lions, by 23! Unfortunately for PTiger the comp will be decided by the game. This will be the only game of the year that I'll have on tape. It promises to be a classic.

I have been effectively boxed in from getting first. Therefore, Lions by 16 for second place

Hmmm. I should just not tip, thereby ensuring a not-negative result for this year.
But no. Essendon by 27.

I forgot to mention that I may decide to deduct a point for every point your away from the actual winning margin. It just depends on how I can work my way into a winning position. ;) This game should be a beauty and if you get the chance to watch it, make sure you do and have plenty of stubbies at hand.
Brisbane by 34 points.

I'll be donning my Brisbane guernsey as I exitedly watch the GF on FoxWorldSports. To follow in the footsteps of my hero from down under I'll take the Lions by 120. Thanks to AFANA *Also in the luncheon, Carlton president John Elliott has urged all the Blues’ supporters to barrack for the Lions. Elliott said there are three clubs that he would never support: Essendon, Collingwood and Richmond. “No Carlton supporter barracks for Essendon…because Carlton’s the greatest football club in the competition,” Elliott said. “They’ve equalled our record (of 16 premierships) by accident and now they can go past it.” He also predicted the Lions would thrash the Bombers by 20 goals. Has anyone else discovered this outrageously satirical site, check it out. thebladder

Well done Ms Pez! Thought the Bombers were going to hold them for a while, but the 2nd half clearly was the Lions' time. Congratulations!

Well done Ms. Pez. She picks lions by 23 and is only off by 3 points. (Note: Ed Perl and Big Jack were only off by 96 points.) It is too bad that the Bombers lost in this manner; it looks like because of salery concerns that they will not be as dominating in the years to come.)

Here are my "special comments" A cracker of a Grand Final. I thoroughly enjoyed the festivities from start to finish, ok, I did get a little drunk. The first hour with highlights and history of the AFL was terrific. However, I must say the musical talent was a little dated and thin. But for the Lions mis-kicking a ton of opportunities for goals in the 2nd quarter, Big Jack's and my victory margin appeared to be right on. That said the second half was a beauty. The Lions showed their true pedigree as Premiers. I've got to think a lot of credit for that must go to their champion coach Leigh Matthews. It certainly was a great way to end the 2001 EFF season.

Special Comments: Woo Hoo! Ms. Pez was uncanny in her finals tipping, leaving the rest of us in the outback dust. I'm finally able to post today because I watched the game last night on tape. Fabulous match! 93+ thousand in attendance. I wonder, Frank, how much do tickets for the final usually cost?
Great season, everyone. I had a blast, and my wife certainly was tickled when she learned she won the finals tipping. Despite not knowing what she was doing she still mangaed to point out that she beat me! Now it's off to hockey and EFF domination.
