Frank, edperl and myself are still debating the time difference between Chicago and Melbourne on April 12, 2002. The website that I looked at says that the region including Melbourne observes daylight savings time (www.worldtimezone.com). If that is the case there would be a 14 hour time differnce and edperl's tip would have been about 45 minutes late. His website, on the other hand, said that on that date and time, Melbourne was not observing daylight savings time (www.timezoneconverter.com), thereby making the difference only 13 hours, and making his tip valid.
Of course, neither of us will concede the validity of either site, so we turn to you. Can you tell us whether Melbourne was observing daylight savings time on that day? Clearly one of these sites is wrong. We figure a local can shed more light on this issue than we can. Keeping in mind of course that your ruling on the tip stands, this has become a humorous contest here that won't be conceded, due to our EFF competitive nature. Please help solve this mysterious problem. :)

I must apologise for my condition right now. Australia, including Melbourne, is NOT on daylight saving time. I can't add any more until I get up. Sorry but it's a public holiday here and I've made the most of it.

Apparently a drunk local can still shed light!

Thanks, Frank. So what is the actual time difference between Chicago and Melbourne? I've got to contact this one site and tell them they're giving out wrong info.
Happy ANZAC Day, by the way. We have an outing planned for Outback Steakhouse tomorrow after work. Sure, it's cheesy, but it's all we got that's 'Australian'.
