With a late charge the blue hen takes the title.
Congratulations, it's all yours for the next two weeks. |

This is like voting an old cheezy westerns actor president. Oh wait...
Congratulations, Blue Hen. Fluff those feathers and strut your stuff.

nothing against Blue hen, but this vote shows just how far the board collective has sunk. Guys work their asses off, and we'd rather honor a wisecracker.
is it any wonder the top quality posters are more and more scarce around here?

Pilewort, I debated posting something just like that, but "chickened" out.
Now, I chat with blue hen on aim and in the chatroom occasionally (which is where he got his votes from), and joke around with him, but I 100% think that he did not earn this "award". And he knows it.

Its official now. This Guru Jr. "reward" has lost all its integrity, honor and respect.

Meanwhile, a big round of applause still goes out to the gurupies who organize and post standings, do the probables, create spreadsheets, and generally display true guru-like tendencies.

Hahahahahaahahahahahaha. I love the hen and his sense of humor, but "Guru like tendancies"? I think not! In terms of humor, the two could hardly be farther apart! (Sorry Dave - it's true (Think Kurt Angle: "It's true.....it's true") - and in some eyes that's a compliment!)
Isn't there already a blue hen jr. award?

I don't know about all honor, integrity and respect, in truth the guy is funny sometimes and he rides me as much as anyone lately. But I do agree with Pilewort, the more helpful and informative gurupies are becoming more and more scarce and seem to have been replaced with folks who prefer to mock others for little or no reason. Where has Walk been? Greenbelt? Is it any surprise that this has occurred since summer vacation started? Does this happen every year? Perhaps the moderators should wave a heavier hand with regard to ensuring congeniality in our posts? Is it too early to vote for Chode as the next Guru jr?

Everyone lighten up!
Some of you may find blue hen's humor over the top(it is), but the man is hilarious regardless. I know he doesn't need me defending him because he will come in here with a classic bh post, but I will do it anyway.
This is a community, and every group of people needs some humor. Especially when everyone is always freaking out because SW goes down for a little bit during the middle of the night, or their pitcher had a bad outing, or they have 1 trade left and they MUST use it right away.
As for all the "deserving" gurupies who should win the award, well, their time will come. There are more guru-jr's to give out than there are people on the boards. Please don't make it sound like bh just stole an exclusive award that will rob a true fantasy sports-god of his day in the sun. I am only half serious, as I too, realize some irony in bh taking the award--I just can't believe people actually care that he won. The title is for a limitied time only, after all. I do find pilewort funny. I just know he is refreshing this thread every few seconds to get a chance to rebut a "blue hen supporter".
Besides, I think Dave would agree humor is one of his strongest qualities, right Dave? ;)

I agree with Jkaye, this is a community, everyone contributes in his or her own way. Blue Hen might not have the qualifications of the award, but he offers just as much to this board as most people.
What I find most interesting is half the people who are complaining that blue hen won didn't vote for anyone themselves. I don't mind people showing their disgust that Bluehen won, but if you didn't vote (Blue Hen only won by 5 or so votes) thats the real problem.

Twarpy - I agree with your first line wholeheartedly. I think the hen is a riot - as a matter of fact, blue hen, I'd be interested in your AIM name if you'd like to chat.
I don't think anyone in here is taking this too seriously - nothing involving blue hen should - but maybe we just need to change the definition of the award to the "Gurupie of the Week" or something.

"Ward, weren't you a little hard on the Beaver last night?" - June Cleaver
Sheesh. The sky is not falling, the sky is not falling. While blue hen may not provide splurges of statistical data, run standings or create silly spreadsheets, he does supply a little bit of personality (despite sometimes being overbearing), and sometimes that is what these boards need.
I was going to vote for blue hen, until I noticed the chatroom consortium chose to go with him this week. So I chose abstinence over drone-ism.
I say congrats blue hen and may your time be as fruity as you are. Err, I mean fruitful.

Hey, I noticed this thread has been rated with a lot of 1's, and small amount of 5's. Are those 1's a pathetic form of protest, or do you really feel that this thread is unimportant? Are you the ones who gave 5's to the 85 million thread? It would figure.

FWIW: I just realized that my post #7 could be misconstrued as not appreciating our esteemed new Guru Jr's appointment -- that's not the case. It was as much a playful jab at Guru than anything else.
