0 Subject: Transition of Terrorism Threads to Politics Forum

Now that baseball has resumed and the pace of world events has slowed a bit, it's probably the appropriate time to suggest that any new threads relating to terrorism, the war, prejudice, politics, patriotism, etc. be created at the Politics forum.

It's fine that the baseball forum became the central forum for this issues over the past week. And with baseball out of everyone's focus, there weren't really any competing topics here.

But baseball is once again resurfacing, and it also seems certain that the world's response to terrorism will last much longer than the current baseball season. As such, the Politics forum is certianly the best place to host ongoing discussions.

At some point I may try to move the existing threads over, but that isn't a trivial exercise, as there are a number of internal links that need to be adjusted. So for the time being, feel free to continue to add to existing threads here if appropos. But let's start new threads over there.

Let me take this opportunity to thank you, Guru. You, as always, have provided a very valuable service for those of us in this small community. Thanks again for making this message board available.

Below is a post I left in the political thread just before I read Guru's post above. I think it explains part of the reason why even the political forum regulars haven't been posting there since last week’s events.

I think I speak for most over there when I say new blood is always welcome, hope the post below will intrigue some newbies to head that way. Here then the before mentioned post...

It's been strangely silent over here.

I know there has been allot of discussion of the recent terrorist attacks in the baseball forum and to a lesser extent the football forum. It's interesting though that, the very forum that was started to discuss political and current events has been unusually dormant.

I think we all know the reason why.

If you are feeling anything like me, you just don't have the stomach for the political "debate" we are all so normally fond of. I just haven't had any fight in me and I've also felt now is not the time.

I'm betting the reason many of the regulars haven't been over here is they are feeling the same way. This Forum is for passionate debate, arguments, a good fight. We have no fight in us.

And so we take a moment for silence, and reflection and mourning. I think that's proper because, though we all disagree passionately much of the time, we all watched in horror last Tuesday as our lives were irrevocably changed.

I suspect the next salvo in our debate will begin anew when the "war" we've been promised begins. I think that will be an appropriate way to heat up the forum again. We shouldn’t have to wait too long.

For now though she wears a black veil…walks with bowed head…and gazes back at last weeks nightmare, horror-movie, with a stunned, melancholy stare. Fittingly enough she doesn’t have the stomach for an intellectual fight, at a time when all reason seems to have been sucked from our lives.

Peace my brothers...
