Here is a story I like adapted from the new 3rd edition of the Bill James Historical Abstract. That makes it close to appropriateness for this board, I guess:
There was this revivalist service where the preacher was on a roll. He said, "I want to throw all the beer in the river! I want to throw all the wine in the river! I want to throw all the wild women in the river! I want to throw all the playing cards in the river!...Now let us sing... the next hymn is [fumbling for service bulletin], number 243, "Shall We Gather at the River?
