Subject: Video Games plus Fantasy Baseball equals???

We step into the mental batters box everyday. We imagine the physical results of our strategic thinking all the time. Is there a baseball video game that brings it all to life? I am looking for a serious, adrenaline-filled baseball video gaming experience. One that matches my wits with my fingers. Any recommendations? |

The newer baseball games do not seem to get the job done quite like the old schools game did.
If you can get you hands on an NES system (original Nintendo)....check out Bases Loaded, Baseball Stars and Baseball Simulator 1.000
all are great games in their own way

I've got TP 2003, but its not all that challenging. Its just a bridge until College Football '03 comes out next month.
Kind of an awkward question, but, what should I do with Kile? leave him on the Cards as if nothing happened, it'd be awkward if I had to face him. Should I just send him to the FA pool so he can RIP?

I like High Heat for the Playstation2. The graphics are OK but it is very realistic. I like it because it is very difficult to beat on the HOF level.

If I was playing a season in TP 2003 I would probably move Kile to the Free Agent pool and let him stay there. It would be kinda weird to have him pitching even if it is only a video game

I played a good game on PC a few years ago. You were the manager of the team and you also played the games. You could release players and make trades but you also had to set prices for seats, concessions and could even control TV blackouts. You made money and at the end of each season you had players who were free agents and you could offer them contracts or let them go. I think it was only a cheap game with not very good graphics but it was fun. The only problem is I can't remember the name. I think it was called Baseball Manager or something, I also had a Formula 1 game like that too.

World Series Baseball for X-Box. Its amazingly real. If you have X-Box I would basically guarantee you would love it. It's realistic, and fun baseball, and you could get lost playing an entire season of it.

I have All-Star Baseball 2002, that was a very good game, fun to play and the graphics were pretty good....but thats almost broken now (cheapy Sony) and now ive got High Heat Baseball 2003, its better than ASB2002, but im very annoyed that u cant save more than one season with it.

J I didnt buy Triple play this year, so I dont know if this option is available, but what I did for Corey Stringer was to edit him down as low as possible then release him so no one will pick them up.
Although I left in the NW DB (Rashard Carruth??) in last years NCAA, when I named the rosters (Yes, I will do it again this year).
Speaking of 03, been jonesing for it as well. Im getting it shipped to me on vacation, so I dont have to wait two weeks on it. In fact my friends and I just started a 02 dynasty to hold us off.

wait, you named ALL rosters? or just Northwestern?
For TP I can just release Kile, I cant change his ratings. But trades are off, so no one will pick him up. This way I can trade Bartolo Colon for Lee Stevens!
do you know exactly when the NCAA game comes out? All I know is sometime in July.

A buddy of mine raved about Out of the Park Baseball. I haven't played it myself, perhaps someone else on the boards knows some specifics.

In post 6, I believe jd is referring to Baseball Mogul. I've heard great things about it, but never played it. Here's a link to a review of its latest incarnation.
While I'm at it, here's a review of Out of the Park Baseball 4.0.

J, last I heard and read, EA is shipping it July 22nd, expect it in for those who reserved it the 23rd. Sometimes these things get bumped up though.....
Yes I named all rosters, nearly. There is probably an average of 1-2 bench scrubs per team who slipped through the cracks. Last year the game came out earlier and finding rosters became tough. Every now and then you'll see a RE #68, but other than that is real. Im a sucker for realism.
I could just buy a sharkport, but I would only really use it for this, and it seems people have problems with those things.
Madden 2003-graphics look good, but the big thing is online play for the PS2 and roster downloads. It will be sweet.

I always name my teams players (FSU) but never went and did em all, that must've taken forever!
Even Northern Illinois?
Whenever I get a game - ie-TP2003- I go through and try to update rosters as much as possible, that usually takes me a while, but I like the same realism. Except for the part where I'm the starting SS for the Mets, but seriously, Rey Ordonez is a waste of computer graphics! :)
I even went and created over 35 players - even Hank Blaylock - what a waste! Apparently the game wont let you create more than 35 or so guys.

Same as me, I always create and update.
I had to name NIU, my team is the Ohio Bobcats, so the MAC teams were some of the first to be named. It took about a week to name, then I gave it too all my friends, think this year I'll slip in a player by my name on some nobody and see how far he can go till someone asks me about it.

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses. The thing I liked about TP is some of the extras. The home run challenge, the old players, etc. I like the realism but I also like the bonus stuff too. I just picked up MLB Slugfest 2003. This game is perfect for hanging with some buddies and just whupin some ass. I've been playin it most of the weekend. Another weekend gone. Anyone else have it yet? You can get some info here (http://baseball.midway.com)

thanks James. I've been trying to find out the name of that game all weekend with little success. That is the game I had. I didn't have the complete game but it still was a lot of fun.

Any site I should know about?

personally, I like All-Star Baseball 2003 on PS2. Gameplay is realistic, graphics are great, you can save a number of seasons, create a ton of players, Cooperstown teams, old stadiums and even create your own Expansion Team.
I put a National League right here in Austin.
I think it's the best game out there for PS2.
