Did anyone track the trades for the top teams in the TSN Season 1 Basic game? Is there even a way to track trades used?
Just curious. |

12985 points won it. The winner had only $39.18 million in franchise value. The dates available to view are 7/3 through 7/7, the 5 most recent. Every day, the GM made 1 pitcher trade, in effect a Guru-rotation. There were 4 days, 4 studs rotated. No hitter trades for these days.
I never took the time to look for a URL etc. to track this. Eric B. certainly would be able to tell us.
For comparison, the Gurupie standings were compiled (thanks again AA, philflyboy, for your efforts). Looks like I had the highest Total Roster Value at $52.05 million. Since LSU Fan bought trades I believe, the official winner was PJ's Revenge with 9568 points. I don't believe he bought trades. If so, my 8943 points would be next. These are a far cry from the winner, but interestingly, PJ's Revenge had a WWR of 714, which is tremendous, and mine was 1,263. LSU Fan was 464.
Appears to be all I can tell at this point.

Did anyone "out" LSUFan and his use of extra trades? Early on when I was still watching the Free Game Standings Lutefisker (IIRC) was permanently bumped to the bottom of the standings because the game (as originally advertised) was a NET game (no extra trades), and he had purchased extra trades. Other than obvious extra trades or someone admitting that they were purchasing trades, and without tracking daily roster changes, I'm not sure how else you'd be able to tell if someone was purchasing trades on the sly. TSN never gave any info regarding extra trades purchased.

I'm pretty sure LSUFan admitted it in a previous Gurupie Standings thread. It was a while ago. Will have to go back and check

I finished ranked ~11,000. I didn't start the team until a week after the season started (4/7) then let the team sit for a month before looking at it again and starting to trade. I was surprised I was able to finish as well as I did...nearly every pitcher I picked to rotate had big games. I wish I could have picked pitchers as well on my ulitmate teams. Pretty boring game in my opinion the limited trades makes play limited.

Totally agree Chicago. I'm done with it altogether.

Yep, I started a Team about the same time Chicago did although I didnt fill it for a week later. After that, I just was concerned with $$$. I ended up with abotu 43.5 million which was cool, and I beat half the ppl in my division which was cool too. But overall, all I would do to "manage" my team was sell the old money train and buy onto the next one. Not much fun.
Lets hope that OTO will be fun in the 2nd half.

I've been saying for ost of the season that the scaled back TSN free game is boring. On the other hand, I've really enjoyed my first year of swivre. Try it if you haven't already.
By the way, Guru--Will there be a football league for RotoGurupies? (I'm already in the baseball league with you guys)

Count me in for the swirve league. I also have a few friends here who'll make good additions as well. We've been doing a conventional league for about 15 years, and added TSN a couple of years ago. This year we are switching to swirve.
Glad ya like the handle MikeD. It's a natural combination of my home state and my alma mater's team nickname (Eastern KY U. Colonels). Not to mention that I'm actually old enough to remember when the ABA existed.

I tried out Swirve baseball but I didn't really like it. There aren't much action in that game, in which whenever you sign a player, you're stuck with him for at least 5 days, which is equivalent to saying "check back in 5 days." I think roto leagues are much more fun cuz you've got to manage almost everyday. And the free game... I've been complaining all along. We should at least get 3 trades per week. But then again, that would only stop people from purchasing trades.

Once you get into the swirve season, your contracts get staggered out, and I've found that I have to make a move just about every day. Regardless, there's a lot more managing going on at swirve than at TSN. Of course, if you sign a lot of long term deals, that will cut into the moves you have to make.
