Many of you know that I have been having some "issues" with Gleem.net. For those of you that don't know, the short story is that:

1. DomainBank, the domain name registrar, decided to revert to using the old IP information associated with the domain name, which caused the problem of the site not showing up (This was supposed to be fixed)

2. DomainBank said about 48 hours ago that the site should be back up (i.e. - all the DNS information updated) within 24 hours. (Ummmm, yeah, right.)

So that leaves Gleem.net down.

The story behind Gleem.net is long and storied, but I won't get into too much of it here. However, one of the other "issues" with Gleem.net (which really isn't a big one) is that I don't personally own the domain name, which means that I can't personally take care of any of these issues. It all has to be done through my former business partner (who is still a friend, which is why this isn't too much of an issue).

Anyhow, when I moved my design business from Gleem.com to Kafenatid.com, when that business partner became a "former" partner, I also registered Kafenatid.net just in case I ever wanted to use it. Well, my thought is that the opportunity, and reason, have come for me to use it.

Currently, I am in the process of updating the DNS information for Kafenatid.net to point to my current hosting and will be converting all of Gleem.net over to Kafenatid.net.

What this means:

1. Gleem/Kafenatid.net will be down for at least another 24 to 48 hours. I'm actually hoping that Kafenatid.net gets updated before Gleem.net so that there are no transitional issues with regards to games and and databases and such. We'll see.

2. I will have complete control over every aspect of Kafenatid.net. (The way I prefer it).

3. You will need to update bookmarks, if you have any, once this is all completed.

4. Not much else. All the tools and games will still be the same as before, just at a new web address.

Anyhow, if anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to respond to this post. Beyond that, this is just an FYI so that if you're interested in knowing what's going on, you'll know. I'll keep this thread updated with any information that I have as it becomes available.

Sorry for all the inconvenience all of this has caused, but hopefully these problems won't arise again with this solution.

Thanks for the update. In the last few weeks, I found myself using your site more and more, mostly for the TSNP updates. It will be great when its back on.

Best of luck here as well

Your site has been getting steadily better over the past two years. Thanks for all your work. I use a lot of it on a daily basis.

I feel your pain.

The story of rotoguru.com is similar. I don't personally own that domain, and have been unsuccessful at getting the current owner (who is a former partner of a former affiliate... long story - but it seemed ilke a good idea at the time.

I've been able to generally keep the rotoguru domain pointing to the right place. But since I don't control it, I could always have unexpected hiccups.

Which is why rotoguru2.com points to the same place. RotoGuru2.com is under my control, and in the event anything goes awry with rotoguru, rotoguru2 should always be interchangeable. Hopefully, rotoguru.com will continue to function properly (and someday I'll get control of it), but for now, if it ain't broke...

RotoGuru1.com and RotoGuru3.com are also my domains, and point to other servers, as needed. Ultimately, they'll probably both point to my dedicated server. But that should all be transparent.

But I digress...

Meanwhile, I'll convert the gleem links to kafenatid (you couldn't have chosen something easier to remember!?)

As Puckprophet pointed out, just think of coffee. Check out Kafenatid.com and it should make more sense. ;)

Exactly how I feel, Go Easy...you don't realize what a good thing you've got, until it's gone. Oh how I've missed the Gleem tsnp calculator! Especially with some of the big BIG nights recently. Thanks KKB and good luck with your changes.

Kafenatid made me think of a Katydid, I had to use Google to get the spelling right. It's a green, sexier version of a grasshopper at 100+ decibels. But I seriously digress, good luck KKB, I sincerely appreciate all that you do and will wait patiently until you get things worked out.

It looks like the DNS information for Kafenatid.net has been updated for the most part. There are 2 ways to look at this:

1. Good News: It means that Kafenatid.net will be up and running sooner than expected.

2. Bad News: I have to somehow find the time to make the necessary updates to the old Gleem.net to make it run as Kafenatid.net.

I have quite a bit of work to do tonight, so there are no promises, but at least it looks like we'll be back in business ASAP.

Stay tuned...

KKB - You da man. I stumbled upon your site about a month ago and have been using it religiously ever since. Keep up the good work. Did I mention that you be da man?

The name is actually quite easy to remember - just say "coffee needed" but say it as if your jaw was wired shut - it sounds like "kafe-natid".

For the record, in an act of revenge for KKB's involvement in the posting of a picture of my so-called wife in a Politics Board thread, I will be registering a parody site called kafenekkid.net. You have been warned, KKB!

OK, everything is updated on the server side of things. I have a few more modifications to make to the pages (missed a couple of Gleem.net references in the code) tonight before everything will be ready to go, but we should be completely back up sometime later (late?) tonight.

FYI, I'm going to be doing a site redesign in the near future because I'm not completely happy with how the new Kafenatid colors blend with the layout and design of the Gleem.net site. This will probably happen over the course of the next month or so.

Let me know if you run into any errors or anything.

Kafenatid.net. It's like Gleem.net on steroids. ;)

BTW, any picks for Baseball Pick'ems for tomorrow will only count if we manage to get 50% or more participation. I want to be as fair as possible to all.

KKB - Your new site is working (mostly) for me. The TSN points calculations are working great but the current/final score for each game seems to be set at 0 to 0. I'm pretty sure that this might be a bit of a problem since Randy Johnson, in spite of flu symptoms, pitched a gem of a game and Arizona beat the Reds 7-2 not 0-0.

PS - the color scheme, white text on orange with splashes of yellow, green and red thrown in for good measure, is a bit harsh on these old eyes of mine. I think I heard my monitor groan as it tried to display colors it hasn't had to display in years;-)

Good job and congrats on having control of your site. That's got to be a big relief.

Richard, thanks for the feedback. I think the 0 - 0 is actually a carryover from Gleem.net, but I just need to check the code to see why the pattern isn't matching anymore. No biggie once I get the time.

Sorry to hear about the monitor. Different people (and monitors) react differently to being kafenatid. ;)

Looks good, got in and did what I needed to do.
The color scheme isn't too bad.
Must be younger eyes than Richard's ;)

KKB thanks for fixing the site. One problem I saw-tonight when I wanted to see who I picked in madball today, I found it very hard to see teh $$ signs in the yellow.
