Is it just me or do random threads get deleted?

I'm trying to find the thread in which several of you discussed a trade offer I received. Yes, I'm talking (again) about the one in which I got Piazza and Percival for Gonzo and somebody else.

Guru goes through old threads frequently and purges some at his discretion. The older a thread is the higher a chance it gets deleted.

The older, and probably in this case, the more time specific. I would guess that a trade thread which by nature has a specific timespan would be game for deletion.

LW, do you remember the title of the thread or by chance the thread #?

Subject: Roto Trade Help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After harassing the other guy with about 15 different trade offers, this is what he came up with:

His Fick, Smoltz for my Luis Gonzalez and Higginson.

Those are two of the players I need and those are two of the players I have offerred before. His offer is obviously watered down. The other guy has used up all of his catcher games and RP games. He has Piazza and Fick, as well as Smoltz and Percival, and I'm trying to ply one from each group.

My roster right now consist of:
C Miller, Wooten
1B Thome, E.Martinez
2B Kent (1B), Alomar
3B Lowell, Perry
SS Aurilia
OF Green, L.Gonzalez, Sheffield, B.Williams, Higginson, Mora (SS), Catalanotto (2B)
SP Oswalt, Wells, Pineiro, Mulder, Hudson, Duckworth, Kevin Brown
RP Isringhausen, Jimenez

I've only used 86/162 games at catcher because my catchers suck (I just picked up Miller a couple of days ago). Also I've used 97/140 RP games.

Considering I've managed my 11th placed team all the way up to third by picking Green, Sheffield and Williams off the waivers during their April slumps, I would still come out ahead if I lose Gonzo. I don't care too much about Higginson, as he's been on my bench while he's on the DL and he's my fifth outfielder right now, but if I traded Gonzo and him, I'll have to put either Mora or Catalanotto at outfield, and Aurilia will have to play SS with the kind of season-long slump he's going through.

I could try to trade Izzy for an outfielder, but I can't count on that at this point of the season when most people had used up most of their RP games, right? I'm not quite sure about that. I just felt that Izzy and Jimenez are shaky picks at the spots.

After typing this up, I feel that I'm giving up too much. I cannot cover the costs of downgrading Gonzo by upgrading to Fick, can I? And I do not really need Smoltz, do I? Perhaps I should counter offer and try to get Piazza and Smoltz because I could compensate downgrading Gonzo by upgrading to Piazza and perhaps more. But I tried that before and was turned down.

Fri, Jul 26, 2002, 14:40 Piazza and Smoltz is way too much to expect for Gonzo & Higgy. The trade he offered sounds like a fair talent exchange but I don't kno if it makes your team any better. Maybe if there are some decent 2nd tier OF still available, like Ellis Burks or maybe Trot Nixon?

Fri, Jul 26, 2002, 14:48 Sounds like you are really trying to upgrade catcher as #1 priority. You might try Gonzalez for Piazza straight up. Otherwise I agree with post 1.

Fri, Jul 26, 2002, 15:00 I should clear up what I meant. Just that if you improve your your catcher sit by agreeing to the proposed trade, it could work out if you are able to upgrade at OF with a free agent addition or perhaps by trade for Alomar or someone.

Fri, Jul 26, 2002, 15:21 I pretty much agree with what's already been said, except to add that I agree your relievers are questionable (Izzy healthwise, Jimenez ability wise). Smoltz would be a nice fit. Fick is a nice fit too at C, a position that is fairly weak for most teams, not just yours. Obviously Gonzo is stronger than Fick, but I do believe you are improving your overall team with this trade. MITH raised the issue of what free agents are available at OF; that could also apply at SS, where there may be some better ones (or at least hotter ones) than Aurilia. I'd look at the free agents before doing anything and plan ahead.

Fri, Jul 26, 2002, 16:18 If you feel like taking a gamble, see what you could get for Kent. You have Robby who could put up a big month anytime... On the other hand, maybe you could find someone who wants to take a gamble on Robby, and they could give you what you need.

I agree also that upgrading your catching should be your top priority. Fick is a pretty decent catcher, but the upgrade from Miller is marginal at best. Your priority should be prying Piazza away from this guy. Smoltz would be a nice aquisition too... Try adding a 3rd player maybe for both of them? Or try offering Robby/Luis for Smoltz/Piazza/?.

Fri, Jul 26, 2002, 16:20 I should clarify... I realize that you probably have Robby at the Inf Utility spot right now, but that means Edgar is riding pine. Both are pretty good hitters who are slumping... There's no telling which of them will heat up, and thus having both seems like a waste. Pick one, and move the other. (Robby obviously has the better trade value...) Yes, its a guessing game, but I'd rather end up with Edgar at DH and Piazza at C than Robby/Miller.

Sat, Jul 27, 2002, 08:09 Well, the waiver wire is very thin at both OF and SS. Somebody just dropped Reggie Sanders and I intend to grab him. Problem is that I'm only 5th in priority. See, if I can't get Piazza, I would probably need to make another trade to replace an OF. I was just transferring a problem to another problem. I don't want to trade Alomar because I need his SB, and I don't think people would give much for Edgar Martinez.

So right now I'm gonna try to get Piazza by adding an SP. Best case is that I give up Gonzo, Higginson and Wells/Hudson for Piazza, Smoltz and Sanders. Second best case is that I don't get Sanders, in that case, I'll either have to pick a crappy OF or an SS (bite Jose Hernandez's ridiculous SO count for his power?) from waivers. If not, I'll settle for Fick/Smoltz.

Sat, Jul 27, 2002, 23:04 The traded ended up this way:
My Gonzo/Higginson for his Piazza/Pierre/Percival.

I hope Pierre could get me a couple of points from SB. I only have 3 in a 12-team league right now.

Sun, Jul 28, 2002, 01:56 Nice trade TLW. Percival is hardly a big downgrade from Smoltz, and if the Angels keep winning close games like they have he may just be Smoltz's equal. Pierre adds even more potential than before, since you need SB's and his asking price is at an all-time low. If he can heat up he may just end up being the best part of the deal...

Cool thanks
And I'm not going to ask. =)
I did a thread search and it's not there.

Well, I've made a few moves since then:
1. Gonzo/Higginson for Piazza/Percival/Pierre
2. Picked up Sanders from waivers and put him in OF.

That guy I was dealing with ended up sending Dunn/Smoltz for Ramirez.

3. Picked up Nomo from waivers for Duckworth

Then some dude traded Mike Williams for Ellis Burks. Perhaps the RP slot should have 162 games instead of 140. Every year there are fire sales like this. And so, right after that:

4. R.Alomar for Gagne. That gives me 4 closers.
5. Edgar/Aurilia/Hudson/Brown/Jimenez for Palmeiro/Beltre/Jeter/Shinjo

It was my turn to firesell closers after getting Gagne. And I'm kinda running out of SPs too.

6. Dumped Shinjo and Perry and picked up Durazo, Mclemore and Catalanotto.

So suddenly, in a 12-team Sandbox league, my lineup looks like this:
Piazza, S.Alomar
Palmeiro, Thome, Durazo
Kent
Jeter
Lowell, Beltre
Green, B.Williams, Sheffield, Sanders, Mora(SS), Pierre, Mclemore(3B,SS), Catalanotto(2B and soon 1B)
Oswalt, Mulder, Pineiro, Wells, Nomo
Gagne, Percival, Isringhausen

I remember I picked up Green, Williams and Sheffield from waivers when people dumped them in April. I think only 5 players are from the original roster (Thome, Lowell, Oswalt, Mulder and Wells). I find that very funny.

I can't find a thread I posted about the pop-up ESPN ads. What the hell, I just posted it less than three weeks ago, and it actually had some information about programs that get rid of pop-up ads and viruses that I could have used. Is there any way I can find the thread anywhere?
