0 Subject: Limitations on Losses

Why do I remember a limit on losses (and gains for that matter) of $200,000 from last year's Ultimate game. Did I just make that up, or was there an expressed limit set on daily price movements? The question is obviously motivated by the Griffey implosion.

Thanks Species. I figured there had to be a thread on the subject, but I just hadn't found it. So worse than being out of trades, is having trades, but being away from cyberspace for the week-end courtesy of unplanned events beyond yada yada yada. The Griffey price crash has pretty much wiped out the season for my 3 teams. I doubt that I will be motivated to play in future seasons.

It's a little early to have your season "wiped out" by a $750,000 +/- swing isn't it? A few missed trains by others and you're right back in it, or a couple of good/lucky moves on your part... Either way, the season is less then 5% over, get over it, play the game, see what happens. You're not the only one who got screwed.

Thanks for the encouragement, but in 5 years of playing this game, I've not experienced much success when spotting the other managers a quick and early half mil or so. There really is a life outside of TSN sports, and I 've just received a little motivation to experience it.

Season ruined??

what so instead of owning RJ at the end of the season you can own Schilling instead, Dont get caught up in this money is everything deal, many guys here i am sure will have more money than they need, and it will be more than 700k more than they need aswell. Afterall you can get a 7mil quality pitcher for 5 mil right now, there you go just saved 2 million for ya. (prior) don't give up, 700k means nothing in the marathon that the baseball season is. :-)

Taxman,

FWIW, I'm $4M (yes $4,000,000.00) behind Guru in hoops and have never even challenged any of the top TRV guys and I held #1 WWR for over 1 month and am virtually assured of a top 10 finish. Certaily a Griffey hold wasn't a good thing, but is easily recoverable.

Last I checked it's whoever has the most points at the end of the season, not total roster value.

how did you get screwed? did you run out of trades, forget to make the transaction or did you just think his crash would be a few dollars less?

rfs, makes a great point. the season is only a week old. heck i've only made about 2.2-2.5 mil on my teams and i'm only ranked about 4000 or so. i will have 6 pt's tomorrow and 5 ht's on thurs.

point being it's a very long season & money is not the only aspect to this game. buck up, play on!

Agreeing with all these guys Taxman. Heck, if you win your division at least you still make money.

If you are really intent on dumping your teams leave them for people here to run. The winnings can be used for Guru donations. I would be willing to take 1 for that cause.

Farn; e-mail me. Let's discuss how to transfer management.

cancermoon, RFS, beastiemiked, and all my friends on this board: thanks for the support. I've just lost the desire. TSN has delivered an inconsistant product in every sport for too many seasons. Something about the Griffey price drop has uncovered a loss of desire to continue playing.

And Flood, dude, reread my posts. I never said I got screwed, but I did say I had trades available and that I was away from home without a computer connection. "Buck up", in my mind is an attitude thing and mine is just not focused on the TSN game right now.

I will continue to lurk around the boards. Best of luck all.

Hence the reason Yahoo's roto games(leagues with many of you) are better for me. I can set my roster for the next week and walk away if needed.

See ya around our Yahoo league Taxman.

Another idea would be to make one of the teams a message board guided team. Someone would have the final say, but the whole board could have input. Just a thought.

Yeah, there hasn't been a board team in a long time.

Great idea Chuck!

Chuck,

I emailed Taxman already. I think we are gonna set something up for me to guide his teams.

My plan was to have it end up being a community project in most ways. I figured I would have the final say but it would be a team effort. Then the whole community has a chance to make a few bucks for the Guru fund.

Sounds like "Hit This!" is back. Board teams are cool--lots of ideas come from those threads.
