Well, team RotoGuru ended up a very solid 4th place in the "experts" league that was PROFL. Given some of the bad picks, injuries and ineffectiveness of some of our top players, I am quite proud of this finish in a 12-team league.

Special RotoGuru awards go to Hank Blalock (the Species steal of the draft), David Ortiz, Carl Crawford, Jason Varitek and Brendan Donnelly.
RotoGuru doofus of the year awards go to Randy Johnson, Barry Zito, Eric Chavez, Torii Hunter, Charles Johnson and Juan Gonzalez.
All in all I think we had a successful year. If only the "four sport" structure of PROFL could have been carried out, I know we would have done quite well.
Thanks to those that were active in the PROFL threads for your support and encouragement. It made it a lot more fun for us. |

Well done, Species. Overcoming the Randy Johnson injury was no small feat. I appreciate your diligence in plugging away at this until the bitter end. You did us all proud.

Greg - You not only overcame the injuries to RJ, but all the inconsistant play from Zito all year. Talk about 2 strikes against you!...err your first 2 draft picks anyway. You once again proved your superior fantasy managerial skills (as if they needed it).
Props on a great job placing above the 5 "professionals" and the "regular guys". You definately represented Rotoguru.com well.

Even with RJ and Zito doing their jobs, I doubt if you could win the league. But
Are you saying that the four-sport thing doesn't work out? Anyhow, Guru's middle relievers strategy totally worked out. In fact, he inspired me to do the same on my roto teams. Donnelly worked like a gem (well, until September anyways)!

TLW - Sadly, the organizers of PROFL just didn't have the time necessary to manage the league in the manner in which it needed. Getting the baseball draft started/done was like pulling teeth, so football died on the vine without even getting started.
It's too bad, because Guru would've likely smoked their butts again in Hoops (he won Hoops last year as a late substitution for a defunct team), deepsnapper might have been respectable in Football ;-) and Chestergreat no doubt would have done well in Hockey.
'twas fun while it lasted.
