TSN BASEBALL KICK OFF THREAD!!!

Strats:
remember RANDO well this year it will be PR/IT/DO! ranked inorder (Prior, Zito, Pedro)

Under Rated Stars:
Vernon Wells - potential MVP
Garett Anderson - Vladdy will help assuming he hits 3rd
Preston Wilson - fantasy dinosaur

TOP CLOSERS:
*Foulke - will be this years best CLOSER
*Gagne - will be great but not as many save ops
*Troy Percivle - will also be a top 5 clsoer more like #3 behind those 2. Angles could win 100

SLEEPER/BARGIN list first draft!!! (I'll run off a more accurate list when I see TSN prices and some updated depth charts)

Going in Order of Divisions (Al east though west)

1. Hinskey - will have a rebound year as he was injured most of last year and had the soph jinks .. if the price is right though

2. R. Johnson - Should produce nicely as the Jays leadoff man .. 285avg with 15/15 and close to 100runs

3. Rocco Baldelli - He will be great but is he a sleeper .. depends on price look for 300avg 30sb and 80runs/rbi

4. Larry Bigbie - I should let this out but he will be a great bargin and produce great realtive to price .. assuming

5. J. Vazquez - could put up outstanding numbers .. look for wins and era to increase though

6. Intire Clevland Lineup should be priced nice and the power sports will produce something, they cant score 2-3 runs every game for the whole season

7.Aaron Guiel - will probably start for KC and could get the job done. Again price realtive 1.5 or less is ok

8. Eric Munson / C. Pena - They will both have break out seasons and DET makes us forget about last season .. they could win 60 games.

9. Corey Koskie - should put up 2001 numbers and will be great if heis priced around 3mill

10. Magglio Ordonez - Evey team need to have 2-3 studs and this should be onefo them .. he could be the MVP and will in all likeyhood be a top 5 TSNP guy at seasons end .. baring injury

11. Garret Anderson - look out if he is hitting 3rd in front of vladdy ... he will see a ton of fastballs not to meantion he will be scoreing more often.

12. Bobby Crosby - Tejadas replacement haen't heard much about him but he could be worht a look as he will start

13. Jermaine Dye - A sad story 4 years removed from a MVP type season .. he will regain some of that form and be a huge $$$ train if he getoff to a hot start.

14. Ichiro Suzuki - His TSN price has droped annualy but he is still the best leadoff man in the majors can't argue with 315avg 35sb and 100+ runs .. if he is under 4.5mill buyhim and consider if he is under 5mill

15. Laynce Nix could be a doug glanvill like last year ... TEX starting OF had upside ....

HOPE THIS HELPED YOU GUY .. TRYING OT GET EVEYONE IS BASEBALL MODE NOW THAT FOOTBALL IS ALMOST OVER .... I'll POST AN (NL) LIST IF PEOPLE FOUND THIS ONE HELPFULL ... FEEL FREE TO COMMENT, HECKLE or PRAISE MY PICKS!!!

Another sleeper pick is some guy from Tampa. Gathright, if he is along enough, they may trade Crawford to make room for him.
Devil Rays LF Carl Crawford led the A.L. with 55 stolen bases last season and hit .281, but he could be traded for a top pitcher if CF Joey Gathright develops as expected. Gathright, 21, has less power than Crawford, but he could hit for just as high an average, steal more bases and force Rocco Baldelli to right field. One scout says Gathright is "the fastest I've ever seen, and I'm going back to Willie Wilson, guys like that." . . .

sounds like a decent pick .. I was at spring training last year and I belive he was there .. mgiht have got him to sign some things ... however he is not on the depth charts of most major sites ... perhaps another season or in September?

greer, i dont think i would use the word dinosaur to describe a guy you think will do well. Dinosaur to me means over the hill, will do nothing.

sorry for some of the spelling, but it is readable! - don't jump to any unfounded conclusions on that. I quickly got fed up and stopped reading.

Dinosaur to me means over the hill, will do nothing. - agreed. "Dinosaur" has a very negative connotation. Greg Vaughn might be a dinosaur. Maybe Mo Vaughn. But not Preston Wilson.

I don't see Magglio, G. Anderson, or Vazquez being bargains or sleepers. They all had great years last year and will be priced accordingly.

Should be pretty interesting to see how the prices are handled though - there SHOULD be quite a few pretty inexpensive hitters...surely Blalock, Michael Young, Marcus Giles, and the like will be pretty affordable given their production - surely they won't be 4 or 5 mil ?!?!?!?

Don't you mean they won't be affordable? Guys that will be affordable will be the ones that were injured or had a bad year. Guys like Maddux and Juan Gone.

My guesses for those three:

Blalock around $5,500,000
Young around $4,500,000
Giles around $4,750,000

It'll be interesting to see where RJ comes in at. In hockey, they priced Petr Forsberg at $9,000,000 last year even though he had missed the whole year before that, so there is precedent on what to do with top stars who missed alot of time due to injury. Still, he did get 114 IP, so I'm not sure how applicable that precedent is. My guestimate on him would be $7,500,000.

I don't mean to be too harsh, but it seems a lot of these guys are pretty random. e.g. Why is there any reason to think Koskie will put up 2001 numbers? What makes this year Jermaine Dye's year? Why do you expect guys like Hinske and Magglio to rebound drastically?

doing well in ultimate really has nothing to do with sleeper picks and pre-season predictions. until the player prices come out there's just not much to discuss.

Hi Guys,

***This post address alot of content and diffrent people ... read what you want but don't feel obliged as there is no mention of additional sleepres ... I'll add my NL list as similart to AL list in a few days.***

1: As you may know I've been on a Sequested/Delebrating Jury the past 2 days (Tues 9am untill Web 9:00pm).. that's why I have not been on the boards past few days!

2. First I agreed my spelling is an issue (perhaps not a big one . . . some disagree)I appolige for that and hope we can get past it ... basicly I will check my best to correct in future. Thanks for using (is there an e in that? I say no with the ing) thread and adding discission and sleeper picks :)

TO GURU: Obviously you are the 'man' and I respect you totaly, if you say spelling is an issue and beyond my DINO comment you stoped reading that is something i'll work on .. but do to slight dislexia may not fix with out a spell checker added in to site?

Post #10 (Catfisth): Thanks ... Lets go with dynamo not dinosaur.

TO DEFEND MY TERMS .. me and friends have common agreement that dinosaurs are huge and not to be messed with by most animals or in case of T-REX (my dino is in fact T-REX to me) none may challenge him ... I'll I was trying to show is that Preston is to me a T-REX of sort becasue no otehr players can mess with his peer numbers he hadd all 5 tools evey effectivly ... avg perhaps not great ... I do take credit for bad analigy .. hope we are clear now!

Cheers boys, I'm off to bed as I have had 9 hours of sleep in the past 2 days combined!
Good Night.

May I recommend writing in Word/Works first, then spell checking, then copy and pasting to the boards. Perhaps that would help?

If you prefere a large animal-like being for your synonym I recommend Beast or Monster. I'm sure we have all said "Preston Wilson is a Beast!!" or "Preston Wilson is a Monster!!"

Keep on Keepin' on,
Mikel

They launched on Jan 16th last year so I can't imagine it'll be too long before it's up and running this year. I'll be pretty ticked if I don't recieve my prize for last year before they launch.

Hmm, Zito, huh? Quite a few people around here, myself included, see Zito as a fading star. Not saying he's going to be horrible this year. But his peripheral numbers (k ratios for example) are following a bad trend the past 3 years.
That typically indicates a pitcher has seen better years.
Zito should have a good year. But I doubt he'll be "Randro" caliber this year.

Zito's diminishing offensive support won't help his TSN numbers, either.

i'll sorta retake my comment ... agreed that ZITO will not be in same leauge as PRIOR / PEDRO .... it will be called (PIRDO swaping)!!!

if one is playing in COL and one vs the (NYY, ANA or BOS) opt for ROY, BARRY, MIKE'S bos/sf

Personally ...Baring UNREAL PIRCES ...this is my opeing staff....

Gagne
Foulke
CHC Closer (if price is good)
Sleeper/Train
Sleeper/Train

*** GOAL/STRAT ***
Get max pts with out using trades .. 3 closer and 2 steady trains...use a trade oin a train if I must ...but save trades untill JULY when startrs are in full swing adn PRIDO will get me 150tsnp each time .... use all trades to never miss a PRIOR or PEDRO start after JULY ... and throw in ROY and MIKE S if I can....

Hitters....basicly.... underpriced producers that are not know to public (hold held alot) and are not ingravity .... keep one IF and one OF spot for SLEEPERS .. like I want 3-5 major $$$ trains on team at all times untill JULY/AUG!!!

cheers, I gotta get to work!

Rogue did a nice job!

Blalock around $5,500,000 (Actual $5.70)
Young around $4,500,000 (Actual $5.33)
Giles around $4,750,000 (Actual $5.01)
Randy Johnson $7,500,000 (Actual $8.05)

Impressive predictions. Prices seem high, but they always do in January, don't they?

- Pedro's price is awesome this year.

- For those of you that don't know, Gagne is 9.5 million. Looks like we're going to have to pay a lot for consistancy.

- Game-time trading. I don't know how much I'll like this. I have a habit of going through it really quickly sometimes in the morning and can get my teams done in 10 minutes most of the time and not worry about it, now I'm going to have more time to look at things since it's in the afternoon and I'm more of a gut player. We'll see.

With Pedro at 7.85, Kevin Brown looks a little steep at 8.50.

Clemens at 5.1 looks like a bargain, Astro or not.

Griffey at 5.96? I'll pass.

21 of the top 25 players last year in points were pitchers. They need to even that up somehow.
