I just updated the draft picks at Yahoo through 23.06.
The following substitutions were used as placeholders: Jesse Crain=>John Burkett Akinori Ohtsuka=>Jesse Foppert Terrmel Sledge=>Aaron Boone
When those players (Crain, Ohtsuka, Sledge) are made available in Yahoo, the corresponding placeholder player will be exchanged. If any of the placeholder players are dropped first, then the claim to the target player is obviously void.

You mean with the catchers? I like that. Or do you mean getting two of every position? Don't really like that so much.

Or perhaps his lack of pitching? Only 7 pitchers drafted so far, and very low in projected IP.
Looks OK for saves, ERA, and WHIP, but woeful in W and K.

I almost took Grissom earlier, but the more I read about Guiel, the more I couldn't believe he was still on the board. Didn't matter as Grissom went off before it got back to me anyhow.

Rationale for
21.12 Alex Gonzalez, SS, ChC
I needed a shortstop.
That's about the extent of my rationale. My starters are injured. AGonz is a notorious free-swinger who strikes out a lot. His OBP is hedious. The saving grace is that he sometimes connects and he plays for one of the better teams it seems. His SLG isn't too bad considering he's often walking back to the dugout from the batter's box. But bottom line, I had to have a SS and he seemed to be the best available to have any hope to help me immediately.

hahahahaha.....I hear you Ref. I pretty much narrowed it down to the exact same guys. We all have good reason to diss Beltre, but at this point in the draft for a backup, why the heck not?!? I read somewhere he could hit 3rd....maybe that's just what he needs to turn it around!
Wishful thinking I know.....but what the heck.

My Kapler pick was also specifically tied to the Nixon injury, although I have all my starters intact for now. I briefly considered Batista (and would have considered Beltre if I'd realized he was still around) but Kapler was ahead of any of those guys.
Sorry I wasn't at my customary place in front of the computer this Friday evening. I had a lot of fun tonight, but I did hold up the draft. Only one pick to go.

LOL, Guru! I was looking hard at both of them. Figured Dreifort wouldn't be on anyone's list since he wasn't on some of the projection sheets at all that I had. Thought Dreifort had more upside (and downside) whereas you know what you're getting from Shuey. My pick wasn't safe at all and could be tossed back to the FA list pretty quickly.

It's funny how vastly different these "projectors" rate these guys. I think Guru's combined average has me better as a whole than each individual projection. It's gonna take me a minute to get used to playing with 9 active pitchers as well as a CI and MI. Lots of players to actively manage.

After 24 hours, no one reported any draft discrepancies, so I released the league. You now must set your lineups sometime prior to opening day.
Remember that the following three players are protected: Jesse Crain (blue hen) Terrmel Sledge (MITH) Akinori Ohtsuka (darkside)
When those players are made available, please do not pick them up via a waiver claim. Leave them so that the drafting team can take them as a free agent.

Guru
Having completed your RIBC Draft I know that this could be quite a cheeky ask but as a member of the RIBC #2 Qualifying League being commished by Twarpy, and a Draft and Trade rookie from across the pond delighted to have been invited into this league, I wondered if you have been keeping a curious eye over the 3 Qualifying Leagues and will you comment on them at any point.
The RIBC #2 QL is very close to completion and you can view the Draft Grid here.
In view of the level of competition you were hoping for to complement your own league I wondered how much work it would be for you to analyse our own draft in the same way you have done for yours and if it was possible could you post the results in our latest discussion thread here.
If I were proficient in Excel/Access, which I am not, I would do it myself and I suppose the shortest answer you could respond to this request would-be 'No' but I hope not.
I am sure that this saying his universal but it goes "if you do not ask you will never know the answer".

the_abbott, I will be happy to run the "Projections-table" for your league based on the projections that I possess. However, in order to do it, I will ask you to email me an Excel sheet in the following format:
1. Each row contains the Manager_Name (first column) and each one of his draft picks in the following columns
2. The format of the players' names has to be "FAMILYNAME, FIRSTNAME" (for instance: Rodriguez, Alex)
3. It would be even better to show only the "active" players in every team (exclude the bench players) which are typically the guys selected in the last 3-5 rounds.
I am sure that Guru can help you more, but this is the best that I can do.

Smartone; thanks, that is very good of you. Now to avoid any mistakes on my part does each name go in one column or would you require separate columns for surname & christian name?
And can each column/pick then go in the order of position, C, 1B, 2B, 3B etc etc?
As I am 5+ hours ahead of EST it will be a little project that I could do tomorrow morning and then send on to you. Will that be okay?

the_abbott:
1. Please put each PLAYER in a cell, so Helton, Todd will be in cell B2, Posada, Jorge in cell C2 etc (please note that there has to be a space after the comma sign)
2. I think that having them by position is OK but not so important. All I need is the 21 active players (this is a significant drawback to the Prediction Chart that I have as it gives ZERO weight to the bench players which will be used during the season)
3. the_abbott: take your time... if the data is well prepared - it would take me a couple of minutes to run the predictions (I will probably need to manually change a couple of names, usually the players with 3 names, like Kim Byung-Hyung or players with "Jr.", for example)
