Subject: Baseball Sucks!! Who Agrees?

It's boring, the games are too long, the season is too long. The players are greedy a-holes.
It's just a bad situation all around. Who in their right mind wants to spend their summer watching this sport? |

You don't find the fact that most people fall asleep or lose interest after 1 or 2 innings a problem with the game?
And your right, not having a salary cap makes this horrendous game even worse. About 5 teams have a shot every year.
People in Milwaukee and alot of other cities basically go to the games to drink $5 beers and sit in the new stadium or sit in the sun. They know the team doesn't have a prayer every single year.

BTW, my hats off to the people in Milwaukee. (Where I live) For this team to draw 2,000,000 people every year when they are absolutely the worst team in the majors just about every year is almost beyond comprehension. Were talking about a city and metro area that only has about 2 million people. I think there's 5 million people in the whole state of Wisconsin.
Milwaukee is a Major League baseball town I guess. Too bad we have minor league team every year.
For attendence per population I bet Milwaukee is right up there.

I want to ask Motley Crue and Blue Hen: What is it about Tim McCarver that you dislike so much? I've always enjoyed listening to McCarver. He knows the game as well as anyone in my opinion and has always had a good perspective on almost any game situation. He even makes me laugh every now and then.
As for the game itself, in it's purest form Baseball's the greatest game that's ever been created. People from all walks of life play it and watch it. Watching the Bosox beat the dreaded Yankees and finally winning a World Series and watching Ichiro break Sisler's hits record are reasons why I love Baseball. It's got a rich history that represents all that's good and all that's bad about the American system. You'll know what I'm talking about if you've ever watched the incredible Baseball documentary by Ken Burns.

Even though it's a better idea to ignore him, I disagree with MadDog. Basketball is much more boring than baseball.
And Pigtown, I think that Tim McCarver is biased and uninteresting. Is that a good reason not to like him?

So the baseball season starts tonight. I am soooo excited. 6 months of pure hell and boredom until football starts.
Worst time of the year for sports. I cannot even watch 1 inning of this stupid sport.

People are drunk and falling asleep in the stands, people are laying at home passed out on their couch, and the announcers act like baseball is the greatest thing ever invented.
"Ohhhh look at that, the pitcher just scratched his balls" WooHoo!!

MARD, why do you hang around the baseball forum if you can't stand the sport? Aint ya got anything else better to do or does Wisconsin suck so much that there isn't anything else for you to do? I'm starting to feel sorry for you, that your life sucks so much.

Balls, since when is making a few posts in the baseball forum considered "hanging around"?
I usually check into this website whenever I'm on my computer. Whatever forum the posts go to doesn't matter to me.
GolfFreak, Wisconsin does suck in some ways. In others it doesn't just like any state I guess.

Blue Hen... I never really noticed Tim McCarver's bias you speak of. I'll try and detect some when I listen to him do some games throughout this year. Don't like the wild card neither huh? I'd guess it's either because it lengthens an already long season or it's because maybe you miss those great pennant races in September under the old format. If it's the latter, I can see where you're coming from. Those September pennant races represented some of the best baseball of the season, sometimes even surpassing even the LCS and World Series. Good examples are the '78 AL East race between the Yanks and Bosox, and the '87 AL East race between the Tigers and Blue Jays. The '87 race was the best one I ever saw, the one which Tigers and Jays slugged it out in seven head to head games in the final ten days of the season and all seven games were each decided by a single run. The year that Bill Madlock upended Tony Fernandez at 2nd base and Fernandez shattered his elbow on the wood plank surrounding the dirt at 2nd at old Exhibition Stadium. After the Bosox made history last year as a wild card team, do you still feel the same way about it? Under the old format, none of it would have happened.

Yes, I hate the Wild Card and will continue to crap on it. It's got very little to do with lengthening the season. I love the long season - since I miss baseball in the winter. I actually like the DH, and more than that, I like it only being in one league. I don't care for Interleague Play, but it's not nearly as bad as the Wild Card.
And listen to Tim McCarver do a Yankee game and wait for him to say something bad about Derek Jeter.

MadAndRabidDOG: There are about 25 anti-baseball posts on this stupid thread and all of them are by you. You've failed to win any converts although I've got to tip my baseball cap to you for trying like hell to get others to hate baseball like you do. You had to have known from the beginning that when you make a post like this in a BASEBALL FORUM that you weren't gonna find anyone that agreed with you. So what was the real motivation for your topic then? Was it that you like indulging in your first amendment rights? If that's the case, then go make a post like this in some forum that is dedicated to talking about daytime soap operas or something. I'm sure you'd be right at home there. Leave forums like this to baseball fans. The fact that you keep coming back here though gets me to wonder if you're not more of a baseball fan than you let on. You make more posts about baseball than I do and I've been into the game for a long time.

It's pretty funny that people actually think they know somebody and have a relationship with them when they have never laid their eyes on that person.
You see the same thing in chatrooms. People lose track of reality.
THE INTERNET IS NOT REAL PEOPLE. This message forum is just electrons floating in cyberspace..
And since I don't care, I wonder how much I will mind if moderators start editing my posts to make me look like an idiot. Not that they have to try very hard.
