Borrowed the format from Bandos's league. You can post in any way you want, the questions are a decent place to start. I'll be posting mine sometime tonight.

- Why did you take your 1st round player ? Did you have a particular area in mind you wanted to start with for your team?

- What player did you consider to be a steal when making the pick? And what round was that?

- What pick might have been your biggest stretch?

- What is your team's biggest strength? And greatest weakness?

- In hindsight what do you wish you could have done differently?

- Where do you think you might finish in this league?

- If you could trade spots with 1 manager who would it be and why?

- What manager do you think might have the biggest uphill battle?

- How did you like the Kafenatid draft site? (probably information I'll pass along to KKB)

1. I took Carlos Beltran over Guerrero mainly for the stolen bases. I've second guessed myself for that a few times already, but overall I'm still pleased with getting a 5 tool player to start off. Considered very hard on taking Soriano with this pick, since in my opinion 2B has the biggest dropoff after the 1st player is taken. Obviously, I decided against it!

2.1 Of my own: Teixeira at 2.14 or Erik Bedard at 23.03
2.2 Someone elses: Garrett Atkins at 18.16

3. Barry Zito at 7.03 or Tony Womack at 12.14
I'm sure they'll both provide me with decent stats, but I likely could have waited several more rounds for either of them.

4.1 Strength: OBP
4.2 Weakness: SLG (or anything in pitching)

5. I would have reconsidered my choice of passing on the SP runs, RP runs, and rookie runs.

6. Everyone should have aspirations for 1st right now, obviously... I'd be pleased with anywhere that'll move me up to AAA for next year, though.

7. Taxman: He took a few players that I was hoping to slip back to me: Atkins, Rios, Baez, and that Pujols guy.

8. Frick with Bonds.

9. I really enjoyed it. It's a great alternative to just posting our picks in a thread.

My draft strategy was to aim for one top SP, and then craft a very strong offense based on the percentages. I wanted a very solid OBP and SLG base, as I felt those were the hardest things to fix mid-season. In between doing that, I wanted to be average in SB and Saves. I think I ended up accomplishing all of those things.

Why did you take your 1st round player ? Did you have a particular area in mind you wanted to start with for your team?

I chose the last pick, so I essentially got two top 17 players. Last year my team struggled greatly with SB's. Too, my pitching was very mediocre despite my using 3 of my first 7 picks on it. So I decided I wanted a top SP to anchor my rotation and allow me to leave most of my staff until later, along with a speedster who wasn't a detriment in the other 4 catagories. It's looking like Prior could be a mistake, but hopefully that will work out ok. If he can be healthy enough for 150 IP I'll be happy. Ichiro fit the bill for my SB problems. His Runs, SB's and OBP are stellar, and his SLG and RBI are servicable. I knew I'd be taking two big SLG bats next time around so I was ok with that.

What player did you consider to be a steal when making the pick? And what round was that?

- Adam Dunn at 3.16 seemed too good to be true. He was taken as early as 2.03 in other leagues. 100/100/10/.400/.570 is very possible, which is 2nd round material to me.
- Jason Bay at 10.01 was a huge steal. I was very close to taking him at 8.01 as I was surprised he was still around, but felt I needed Burnett as my 2nd SP more then I needed another power bat. I passed on him knowing he was as good as gone. In no way did I think he would make it back to me two whole rounds later! The latest he went in the other drafts was 7.13...
- Hoffman and Wagner at 5.16 and 6.01. When I took two power bats at 3.16 and 4.01 I assumed I would be picking in the middle or at the end of the closer run. Being able to START the run this late was another blessing.

I also was pleased to be able to get two decent MI's in Utley and Iguchi in the middle rounds, but I don't think they were steals. Both are unproven and risky.

What pick might have been your biggest stretch?

- I took Hafner at 4.01, which was earlier then 3 of the 4 other drafts. Still, 100/100/0/.400/.600 at pick 73 doesn't seem like too much of a stretch.
- Estrada at 9.16 is probably my biggest stretch. He went at 9.14 in one draft, but as late as 14.09 in another. Catchers weren't dissapearing all that fast so he could've waited I think.

What is your team's biggest strength? And greatest weakness?

No doubt about it, my team can rake. Hafner, Dunn, Bay, Berkman when he gets back... As a matter of fact, my worst projected SLG is Ichiro at .447! To go with that, my OBP is very solid as well. (Projected at .373) My Runs and SB's should be mid-pack, with RBI being slightly higher.

My pitching without Prior will be suspect, but hopefully he can contribute something. None of my other starters after Prior/Burnett (Arroyo, Horacio Ramirez, Francis, Ohka and Armas) will contribute much towards wins, but their ratios are decent. My pen is solid too, with Hoffman, Wagner, Crain, Alvarez and Reitsma. There are three teams with 3 closers, and a surprising amount with 1 or 0, and even those with 1 have some questionable dudes, so I see a 13 in saves as easily accomplished.

My one glaring weakness is a lack of depth. With Berkman out to start, he will be my entire hitting bench. I have alot of positional versatility, but any injuries will have to be replaced by waiver-wire fodder.

In hindsight what do you wish you could have done differently?

Taking a SP instead of Estrada. Alot of solid SP's went between this pick and my next, such as Bonderman, Greinke, Livan H, Radke, Willis and Webb. By missing out on all of them, I ended up waiting until round 16 to get my 3rd SP, Arroyo. With Prior hurting, having one of those SP's to go with Burnett definitely would've been better. With my hitters I didn't really need a catcher until late...

Where do you think you might finish in this league?

I feel I've assembled a top contender, but injuries could be costly. Already I'm starting with Prior and Berkman on my bench. If I get hit with injuries like I did last year I'll be sinking again...

If you could trade spots with 1 manager who would it be and why?

Tough to say. There are some solid teams out there, but none strike me as problem-free. I like Just-Lurking's pitching, Frick's hitting (even without Bonds), Taxman's depth... Injuries and surprises will determine this league I think.

What manager do you think might have the biggest uphill battle?

Probably Frick. Bonds is a big part of his hitting, and he doesn't have a starting closer. He has a couple potential closing candidates (Mike Gonzalez is someone I wanted) but those two holes might be hard to overcome.

Why did you take your 1st round player ? Did you have a particular area in mind you wanted to start with for your team?

I had my eye on Manny from the beginning. He is so good and so consistent, I couldnt resist, though I think I took him a bit earlier than most would. Santana or Abreu would have been a good pick here too, but I went with consistency and high SLG

What player did you consider to be a steal when making the pick? And what round was that?

I did not expect to see David Ortiz sitting there at 3.06. That's my steal of the draft. The guy could put up 100/50/150 this year with 1 OPS. Youre not supposed to find 1 OPS guys in the third round.

What pick might have been your biggest stretch?

I tend to draft conservatively, but my biggest stretch might have been Dave Roberts at 10.11. If healthy he will be a steal. If he plays 80 games like last year it may not be so good.

What is your team's biggest strength? And greatest weakness?

Greatest strength is the offense. Manny, Ortiz, Martinez, Boone, Sosa, Blake will bomb all year long. Greatest weakness might be the closing, since I waited awhile before getting them. My starters are good, not great, but shouldnt be a problem.

In hindsight what do you wish you could have done differently?

Taking Carlos Guillen a round earlier. He was my target SS and went three picks before my 9th rounder. So I had to settle for a 'platoon' of Eckstein and Valentin. If I had taken Guillen in the 8th I could have gotten other closers later.

Where do you think you might finish in this league?

Hard to say with injuries, but on paper this team will compete for top 3. Especially if I'm on top of FA's

If you could trade spots with 1 manager who would it be and why?

9.06 with 9.03. See above. :)

What manager do you think might have the biggest uphill battle?

I don't really like to call anyone out.
What comes around goes around.

How did you like the Kafenatid draft site? (probably information I'll pass along to KKB)

Very good. In hindsight I should have used it for one of my other drafts. One thing I'd like them to figure out is diminishing draft rounds for salary cap leagues.

Why did you take your 1st round player ? Did you have a particular area in mind you wanted to start with for your team?

Flipped a coin between Arod and Vlad, chose Arod due to infield number concerns.

Overall, I went with a youth movement hoping to catch time in a bottle.

- What player did you consider to be a steal when making the pick? And what round was that?

I don't know that I thought he was a "steal" but the info on Borowski being named the closer came out just before I drafted him. Of course fielding the line drive came after I drafted him. Hopefully that's not an omen for the rest of the season;)

What pick might have been your biggest stretch?

Both Greens, at where I drafted them. But K. Greene has all the tools and may bat 4th and S. Green has a new and hopefully easier park to hit in.

What is your team's biggest strength?
And greatest weakness?

weakness-RP
Strength-the intangibles which being translated means I have the slightest idea;)

In hindsight what do you wish you could have done differently?

Draft position, if it had been available i wanted middle, but by the time it came to me I chose #2 verses teens.

Not having a business trip come up right after round one. I ended up leaving a 3-4 round queue, in all likelihood I would have drafted a little bit different if I had been around, but Giles, Greene will make a solid MI.

Where do you think you might finish in this league?

As I said when I joined I hope to make it possible for everyone else to finish in the top 15:)

If you could trade spots with 1 manager who would it be and why?

That's hard to say, with 16 managers not having many injuries will play a key, since the wavier wire will be mighty thin.

What manager do you think might have the biggest uphill battle?

I will struggle--midteens--unless, my youth movement surprises me, and every one else has a rash of injuries--Bonds is down who's next:)

I wanted to stay balanced across the board, so I basically took one pitcher and one hitter with my two picks at the end/beginning of each round. On the offensive side, I wanted to start out with hitters that were high OBP/high SLG. I knew that I could pick up some SB’s later in the draft with my 4th OF and Middle Infielders. As for pitching, I wanted 1 stud SP, 2 top-shelf closers, and at least 2 high quality middle relief pitchers. I didn’t want to deal with having to scrap for saves with mediocre closers, so I took Foulke and Benitez early. It felt good to be finished with that category early in the draft, but the obvious downside is missing out on some quality hitters that were still available at that point. I loved getting both Rincon and Otsuka. The combined statistics of three solid MR pitchers in the middle/late rounds will nearly equal that of one Cy Young SP.

What player did you consider to be a steal when making the pick? And what round was that?

Edmonds was a steal in the late 3rd round. He is outstanding across the board and should have been a late 2nd/early 3rd rounder.

What pick might have been your biggest stretch?

I felt like taking Sean Casey in the 7th was a bit of a stretch, but I needed to get a 1B at the time and he puts up solid numbers, so I guess it was justified.

What is your team's biggest strength? And greatest weakness?

Pitching is definitely my biggest strength. I should be at or near the top in all 5 pitching categories. In addition to Schmidt, Foulke, Benitez, Rincon, and Otsuka mentioned above, I was able to get Clement, Buerhle, and Garcia as my other SP’s. All three are young pitchers with improving strikeout numbers, and they’ve shown that they can throw a lot of innings several years in a row without having their arms fall off.

My hitting doesn’t pass the eyeball test, but I feel that it has the potential to put me in the top half of each of the 5 categories. Beltre and Edmonds will need to replicate their numbers from last year, and I’m hoping to see breakout seasons from Crisp and Lane. My MI flat out sucks, but we all have weaknesses.

In hindsight what do you wish you could have done differently?

If I had known that some top shelf closers would still be available in the late 5th/early 6th, then I wouldn’t have taken Foulke in the 4th. That would have been one more quality slugger that I could’ve had.

Where do you think you might finish in this league?

I expect to finish somewhere in the top half. Injuries and break-out seasons will determine the winner of this league.

If you could trade spots with 1 manager who would it be and why?

I really like R9’s team. He doesn’t have any obvious weaknesses. Gunz has an intriguing team as well. He clearly went with the all-injury risk team that could pay huge dividends…or put him in last place.

I don’t have any problems with the Kafenatid website.

- Why did you take your 1st round player ? Did you have a particular area in mind you wanted to start with for your team?

On my projections Bonds was above every besides Beltran and I question Beltran's ability to produce like he did in Houston, a hitters park, in New York, a pitchers park. That being said I thought Bonds would have a monster year trying to put the steroids behind him and chasing Aaron's record. My only hope now is that Barry will come back sooner rather than later.

- What player did you consider to be a steal when making the pick? And what round was that?

Morgan Ensberg, 21st. He if is the full time starter at 3rd for the Astro's he should put up better numbers than a 21st round selection.

Eric Byrnes, 11th. Should be a full time player for the A's and put up some good numbers.

- What pick might have been your biggest stretch?

Yadier Molina, should be the everyday catcher for the Cardinals and with the injury worries for Mauer I wanted to get another catcher. I looked into drafting one earlier, but couldn't see the value. Hopefully will benefit from the strength of the Cardinals line-up.

- What is your team's biggest strength? And greatest weakness?

Strength - Hitting even with out Bonds I should contend in all of the hitting categories, except steals. Before Bond's injury I had myself projected to place first in Runs, RBI's and SLG.

Weakness - Saves I never saw the value in Closers when it was my pick. There are too many question marks with Closers, and hopefully one my later picks will steup up and be a full time closer and keep me from finishing last in the category. In general I feel that pitchers are much more likely to vary from year-to-year, which is why my team is loaded so heavily towards hitters.

- In hindsight what do you wish you could have done differently?

Um, let me think for a second.... Probably knowing what I know now, not choosing Barry in the first round. Actually, I would probably pick a different draft spot. I picked my spot before I had my rankings, I didn't realize the difference in the first couple of spots. I probably would have picked 2nd or 3rd or 15th or 16th.

- Where do you think you might finish in this league?

If I get lucky and Barry comes back soon and I get lucky with some pitchers and on the free agent wire? Top 3. But it is much more likely the bottom half.

- If you could trade spots with 1 manager who would it be and why?

Mmoses, his team is similar to mine in that it is weighted more heavily towards hitters, but probably has better pitchers.

- What manager do you think might have the biggest uphill battle?

I will agree with everyone else and say myself. Losing your first round pick before the start of the season is not the ideal situation.

- How did you like the Kafenatid draft site? (probably information I'll pass along to KKB)

Loved it, it made it much easier to follow the progress of the draft, keep track of who had been selected, and gauge when you would be back up. It also made leaving a queue much easier.

Thanks for the numbers Frick, always fun to see these. I ranked myself with more SB's, less SLG, more wins and less pitching ratios, but minor differences really. A couple of personal team questions:

- What did you rank Iguchi with at SB?
- How many Wins/K's did you put Prior down for?

Its always hard being impartial about one's own players, so a second perspective is always appreciated.

For Iguchi, I used a 2B who was drafted at a similar position. I did this for all players that weren't in my rankings.

I had prior with 15 wins. I am a huge Cubs fan so I hope he gets more than that, but I am scared to death of Dusty "Rubber Arm" Baker. Woods and Prior could be with the Cubs for 10+ more years, but Dusty is not afraid to ride them to the ground every outing.

Just a general question to anyone who has played this format before, how hard is it to hit the minimum/maximum innings pitched. I have my projections, but wanted to get an experienced opinion.

I won't disagree with that assesment Nerf, but I used Rotowire's assessments. Pre-season projections always look great, in part because injuries are not taken into account and I think that the projection sites tend to rank everyone to high.

I use it mainly for making sure that I haven't overlooked a player/category. Well other than saves.

And it doesn't take me that long to run them.

Since I was the one that requested a re-cap, I better get working on it.

As far as achieving max innings, I played Sandbox a few years ago and hit my max innings and games played for hitters in mid September. It was my first time in this type of format, so I "managed" poorly.

-Why did you take your 1st round player? Did you have a particular area in mind you wanted to start with for your team?
I was looking for the Best Hitter on the Board. I came away with Helton, who is solid in 4 categories. For the first half, my philosophy was Best Player Available at Pos.

- What player did you consider to be a steal when making the pick? And what round was that?
I took Bagwell at 12.05 when 3 teams had no 1B. I was shocked to see Jeter available at 3.12. I can only hope he doesn’t have a repeat of last year’s April because I never got a backup SS.

- What pick might have been your biggest stretch?
All my SP are stretches. I took Oswalt way too high (a panic) and my mid-rounders (Livan H 11.12, Eaton 14.05, Glavine 17.12) are implosions in waiting.

- What is your team's biggest strength? And greatest weakness?
I feel strong in OBP, R, and RBI. My WHIP may surprise. I won’t even contend for SB or W.

- In hindsight what do you wish you could have done differently?
Find a P category (or two) and draft to lock them down. Two that come to mind are S and WHIP.

- Where do you think you might finish in this league?
If all goes well I can be Top 3, but that would mean career years for Livan, Eaton, and Dustan Mohr (who I expect to really breakout this year.)

- If you could trade spots with 1 manager who would it be and why?
Going in, I like the look of mMoses on paper. His OF will give him big R, RBI, and SLG numbers and his P can be in the top 5 in 4 out of 5 categories.

- What manager do you think might have the biggest uphill battle?
I definitely do. I went in drafting positions rather than categories without taking into account “the big picture.” I started looking at categories late, and by that point anyone I could get was a “project.”

- How did you like the Kafenatid draft site?
I really enjoyed it. It would be nice to have a bulletin board there to comment as the draft goes along.

C1, I actually liked your Livan and Eaton picks. They were at the top of my queues when taken. Glavine is risky, but then so is everyone taken in round 17.

I appreciate the vote of confidence. I'll keep you in mind should a trade become necessary early. ;)

Well, this is only the second fantasy baseball (draft) league I have ever participated in, and even the first league I played in was substantially different given that we only had 8 teams and played H2H. I like to think I am "seasoned" when it comes to football and basketball, but I am definitely not as well versed in baseball and baseball players.

Why did you take your 1st round player? Did you have a particular area in mind you wanted to start with for your team?

I took Tejada with my first pick, and there is a plus and minus side to this pick. I really wanted Tejada because of the lack of talent at SS. I had him rated as the 5th best player, and I got him right where I had him slated. Looking back at it now, I chose to draft 5th to get him, but I could of probably drafted 8-9th and still landed him, and in the process gotten a better 2nd round pick.

What player did you consider to be a steal when making the pick? And what round was that?

I would say Miguel Cabrera. He went in the 1st or 2nd round in almost all of the other drafts, and I got him in round 3.

What pick might have been your biggest stretch?

Kerry Wood is probably #1. I left a queue with Tax for my Round 2 pick with 4 SP's on it, then Thome, then just added Wood and hoped that it wouldn't make it to him. Looking back on it, I wish I put David Ortiz there instead because I don't really like anchoring my SP's with such a risky player. I also might of taken Cabrera at 2.12 (who I got at 3.05), so maybe it didn't really matter that I got Wood.

My other reach is probably Freel. That was another queue pick that could've probably waited a few more rounds, but I wanted his steals and position flexibility.

What is your team's biggest strength? And greatest weakness?

I think my WHIP and ERA will be solid all year. I have two good closers and 3 of my top 10 MR's. I also think I have a good enough pitching staff to contend for the top spot in W's and K's.

My biggest weakness is probably my power hitting, including RBI's and SLG%. I may be trying to trade some of my pitching staff for some hitting help early in the season.

Where do you think you might finish in this league?

I would love to make it up to AAA. I think pretty much everyone had a decent enough draft to contend, so, we shall see.

If you could trade spots with 1 manager who would it be and why?

I like mmoses' team because he has great hitting and would be someone I may be interested in trading with.

What manager do you think might have the biggest uphill battle?

At the start of the draft I would of said me because of my lack of experience. But, I would have to say Frick because whenever there is a question mark on your 1st round pick (especially one that can carry two categories) you are starting off behind everyone.

How did you like the Kafenatid draft site?

I have used OTC three times now, and I think it's great.

Why did you take your 1st round player ? Did you have a particular area in mind you wanted to start with for your team?

I chose to get close to the middle so that I could get a stud in the 1st rd and also monitor everyone's picks so I wouldn't miss any runs.
I initially wanted to take Santana/Tejada/Bonds in rd 1. I decided that I should focus on a position with little depth. I narrowed down my choice to Tejada and Soriano. I felt that there were enough capable power hitting ShortStops, so I went with Alfonso Soriano. Alot of people have said that Giles is the better suited 2B in this type of scoring, but I went on the notion that Soriano has more complete numbers on a better lineup (and in a better park:). In hindsight, if I could accurately predict where to pick in order to get a Giles in rd 2/3 it might have been better to get Tejada here.

What player did you consider to be a steal when making the pick? And what round was that?

I thought Oliver Perez was a good deal at 4.10. The only reason I imagined he was still there was because of a stiff shoulder in spring and having only one really solid year. Worth the gamble at pick 58. I also thought Dmitri Young at 12.10 was a good deal. I think most people had already filled up their 1b slot, but I think missing most of last year kept him under the radar. I think he'll be solid in Detroit's lineup this year.

What pick might have been your biggest stretch?

As I mentioned in our discussion thread, I got scared once most of the premier catchers were taken and then I reached for Ramon Hernandez at 9.07. It is nice to not have to worry too much about C anymore, but I don't think he was worth a top pick. I probably should have drafted a solid SP or OF here.

What is your team's biggest strength? And greatest weakness?

I think my biggest strength is my pitching. I think I have a set of solid young starters who rack up the K's and have low ratios (era & whip) and solid relievers who can get me saves and some wins. I think position players like Lowell, Soriano, and Nomar will carry my team and be worth their draft positions. I think my Runs and OBP should be healthy since most of my hitters will play on winning teams.

Weaknesses? I have a lot. Critical analysis tells me that I should have chosen starting pitchers who play for better teams. Perez and Sheets won't get me the W's I need. Also, pitchers are an injury away from throwing a wrench into a manager's rotation (see Guardado already!), so I probably shouldn't have invested so heavily in them.
My hitters are full of players who have put up good numbers atleast once in the past couple of years. That's a problem. Boone,Nomar and Young need to rebound from injuries. Palmeiro and Finley need to continue to play well at an even older age. Unproven's like Burke will need to start out hot in order to solidify their spot in the lineup.
I will need a lot of luck in order to have my hitters perform well and help me in the standings.

Did I mention I need SB's ? ;)

In hindsight what do you wish you could have done differently?

Traditionally, I never draft pitchers in the first couple of rounds. But last year in RIBC AAA, I had a tough time trying to get my pitching together. So I threw out my usual drafting strategy and tried to balance out my team. Unfortunately that means when most people were loading up on solid mashers I was busy stockpiling my pen. I think I should have gone with a solid hitter instead of on an additional closer.

Where do you think you might finish in this league?

If I get lucky w/ my hitters I could finish in the top 5. Otherwise, I'll be in the middle of the pack.

you could trade spots with 1 manager who would it be and why?

I initially thought my answer would be Taxman or R9, because during the draft they took a lot of players I was eyeing. After re-evaluating at the end of the draft, I was surprised to see Nerfherders with such a solid team (you would think I would have recognized it earlier). Props to uklamen who has the best hitting team imo.

What manager do you think might have the biggest uphill battle?

I think Frick will be fine. He's got alot of talented hitters. I think msnapp and revvingparson will have a tough time. I don't see any weaknesses per se, but I don't see any strengths either.
