0 Subject: The Most Memorable Thread

The ones that come to mind for me are of course:

-the 85 million thread (that is still lurking if I'm not mistaken? ;-)

-YOUNGBUCK's infamous stolen basketball thread

-MadMan's invaluable strategy threads

What do you guys think?

Oh, man... You picked three, great options. Even though the other two were amazingly entertaining, I'll have to go with MadMan's invaluable strategy threads. It was mostly due to his postings, that I stayed at rotogr when I first found the site. Those Ira and youngbuck posts were just (un?)fortunate side jaunts.

thanks for the brief run down memory lane,

Well those were just the ones that came to mind. I'm sure there are several others.

I think smallwhirled's constipation thread was quite the classic.

Also, "Top Ten Reasons..." had me laughing for weeks.

What are you guys talking about, the best treads are over in the Political Forum and the best ones deal with...
Marijuana! or drugs or Hempfest!, yes HEMPFEST! or The war on some drugs, yes, the human rights afronting War on Drugs, or marijuana, marijuana, marijuana.

The 2002 draft thread of the Political Gurupie baseball league is by far the most hilarious thread ever.

The original WTC 9/11 threads (I think it began in the baseball forum and moved to the politcs forum). I just searched and it has been deleted. I'm surprised Guru purged it.

Anyway, that was the most memorable thread(s). I clearly remember being at work and looking to the rotoguru thread for current updates.

next most memorble for me.... The Simon the_abbott thread

For some of the older members...

Moderator Mike's Cheater's Theater

and anything associated with that.

Also, the thread where Blue Hen was voted Guru Jr(people were genuinely angry!)

The "How did blue hen do?" threads were always pretty funny.

Real old-timers have to remember the thread where Guru proposed to control the right to start new baseball threads and put up a list of people who would be allowed to start threads....

But I would think the Moderator Mike threads have to be the putative favourite.

The original Eboon thread doesn't exist anymore. However, we still have the second Eboon thread: Planet of the Eboons

Top Ten Signs was the funniest over time.

I always enjoyed action threads with azdbacker talking to himself.

Back in the beginnings of these forums, there was a gurupie (I believe Aiko Aiko) who would produce these hilarious newlsetter type threads with graphics and everything he called something like the 'Rotoguru forum week in review'.

I also enjoyed some of the Yankee/Red Sox banter threads that have surfaced from time to time.

rfs [9] Thanks for reminding us of the Simon the_abbott thread.

Week in reviews were always great threads.

Bh trying to get blankenship to be elected Guru Jr was classic.

I just read over the Gurupie chatroom quote thread. Lots of great memories for us old time chatroomers.

Some of you old schoolers will remember this one from 2002:

Species and WAB's attempt to 'rig' SW's "Three for All" Hoops game in 2001

.....one year after the now-defunct game had occurred, I spilled the beans on a strategy that liberally applied the rules of the game to our greatest advantage. What was intended as a laugh turned into a sometimes-ugly ethics thread that included d/j-smooth (former winner of CNN/SI version of SW hoops) - then a minion at SW - confessing to changing our password and resetting our roster late in the game as an act of revenge.

I think this thread is even funnier after re-reading it. Thanks Guru for not purging! What a laugh!

I agree with Jeff G, those Aiko threads a few years back were hilarious. He would sum up events and posts in the last week that were so funny I'd be crying and have all these clever graphics moving around everywhere. Truly looked forward to that every week.
