Now that we have a grasp of the market, what are people's thoughts on strategy?

Some of my initial ones:

Allocate around 85-100 dollars to pitching. Rotate two spots between stud pitchers. Pick up a pitcher 2/3 days before his start to maximize your profit and increase the chance that he is available. I envision it as a leap frog kind of action

Spot 1: Sun to Tuesday to Thursday, etc
Spot 2: Monday to Wednesday to Friday, etc

Otherwise, Leave all other spots blank. My thinking here is why waste the money? Spend it all on hitting

Hitting: even at only 340, about where I am as I was 2 hours late trading yesterday. I still have an average of 27 dollars to spend. For ref anfd the other pushing 500, they can spend 40 bucks per position. Simply rotate studs with favorable matchups.

Use the bench spots (about 8 of them) to simply play the market and increase roster value.

I think this may work for the first two months or so. Then begin to lock in the studs when the market appears to be getting tighter.

Thoughts?

You only get 1300 innings to pitch, so you should fill them with maximum points-producing innings, which is save situations and the 15 point bonus. The more innings you can fill like this the better.

That was my thought. If you simply rotate 2 starters a week, won't you fall way short of the 1300 IP limit? Did I misread?

I was thinking of working 5 starters (between the 2 SP spots) for about 1000 IP based on matchups and sitting on 4 closers for about 300 IP.

Which will mean when you buy and sell will be critical.
Especially with the SP and to a lesser extent with the RP.

That's why building cash now is big
won't have to move starters all the time
can stash and hold one or two maybe

Ender: you misread a bit. I was referring only to the first part of the season for that rotation. Assuming you get a guy for every day for the first half (90 days), and also assume they avergae 7 IP. That is 610 innings, leaving you with 790 to fill in the second half.

7 - holding 4 closers is gonna really cost some dough that could be used to get much better hitters, no? 4 GOOD closers will run 140-160 bucks at least, plus the 60 you need to rotate the good starters (if you want Santana) Unless you like the bad closers who get you 7 or 8 losses and give up a 4 era, and are cheap. I would think that spending the money on upgrading hitters would yield more points gained.

And GL point is the most crucial - when do you buy and sell. I guess that was the genesis of my thinking. It may be hard to just go from stud to stud since there are a limited number of shares of each and most people still playing will realize that this is a good way to maximize points.

The big questions in my mind
at which point after a game starts can you dump
and get all the points for that player

Let's say opening day
you want a player for a 1:05 game
and another player at that position later that night

Also
Do you need a full roster
what if you went with only 6 stud hitters
anf a full complement of closers ?
