Made up some ground this weekend (thx to pujols, Arod and Fielder) after an abysmal week. 10th in both standings, how bout that!

CBS is showing Lackey with only 1 ER so hopefully that is right and rotohog changes it.

Got my T-Shirt in the mail today.
Did go to Peavy today.....Homer that I am.
Nice to see all the support in the 1st inning.

And a save from Cordero.

Even with Schilling I have had a stellar night.....and sadly that's with choosing Sizemore over Vlad.....still over 200 pts for once.

Just got in. It looks like my hitters were good for about 80 pts. Peavy and KRod took care of my pitching RHP for the night. I can't complain. All in all a pretty good night.

Complain if you had Wagner as a closer.

No Wagner, no complaint.

Pujols has reached maxed price this morning (did he at all yesterday?). I can't confirm that he is OUT or not though I suspect he is not.

Pujols is OUT. Interestingly, his offered price is $90.20, the first time I've seen any player offered above the $90 barrier. Of course, since he is OUT, no one can actually buy him at that price.

BTW, I did have Wagner. I was up over 200 points when I went to bed, but he dragged me back under the threshold.

Still a good night. For much of the evening, all of my hitters were positive. Ortiz ended up with -.80, however.

My hitters averaged over 10 yesterday. But no Peavy, only 1 save, and I had Wagner, so not exactly an overwhelming day. I have 1 SP going today, we'll see how it works out for me.

Pujols offered price is now down to $90. Still out, however.

Re: 82 That's interesting. Right after I postd I saw his price at $89.97 which struck me as odd. That seems to indicate that he received 2 buys after the $89.77 barrier.

2 SP for me (though I may end up with only 1).

I swear I will never figure out the trading patterns in this game. Utley doesn't even play today, but is up $4.46 on the day.

The Utley increase doesn't surprised me (I bought him). Get him while he's below $70!

Generally, I agree that the trading patterns are a little harder to figure out these days then early on. This in itself isn't entirely surprising.

Once one system becomes obvious and most people are using it, then some people start trying to beat the system by changing their strategy. This more effective strategy is slowly adopted by others until it becomes the new status quo, prompting another change in strategy. I think we've had so many changes in strategy, we're to the point where different managers are doing different things (and some have enough $$ that they aren't paying much attention), generally making things more difficult to predict.

The one constant seems to be picking up a good SP 3-4 days before his start to make $$. Once you get to the day of the start, some guys go up while others go down, and this seems to be very hard to predict.

The up-down day-of pattern I've noticed is one of extremes.

High-dollar guys dip in the morning as moneymakers take the over night gains and then bail because they don't intend to use them anyway. Most of these guys will sneak back to break-even for the day as gametime approaches then crash at lock.

Cheap ($25 and under) guys see morning gains and hold steady through the day with a slight uptick just before the freeze. These guys' freeze downside isn't near as large, even percentage-wise, as their high dollar counterparts.

I haven't watched the hitters that closely yet, but I imagine in a case like Utley's he had a large number of sells at yesterday's freeze followed by morning buy-backs at the reduced price. It's been established that getting someone's name on the front page as an early mover "chums the water" for both buys and sells.

The Yankees are up 1-0 and Rotohog says Arod already has 2 RBI. Arod is THAT good.

Pujols now offered at $90.40. He's still out, but evidently his max price isn't $90.

#89 - and they still haven't corrected it after his RBI double, giving him 3 rbi.

#90 - now THAT is new! Bug? New policy?

I see the above mentioned trading patterns. It's not that there aren't any. I just wouldn't have predicted Utley taking off so early on a day he doesn't even play. To me it stands to reason that it's a lot of money to tie up on a day a guy doesn't even play. I suppose the pattern has bene established with pitchers (tieing up $70+ for guys like Peavy over the course of several days that they don't play).

I'm not so ingorant that I don't cash in. I was just surprised.

Jeff Weaver is terrible. I'm certain nobody had him. So it's probably irrelevant, but the dude is just awful.

[91] - not necessarily a bug or a change in policy.

The only player who we have seen top out at $90 was ARod. Maybe the max price is not the same constant for every player. Pujols was initially priced higher than ARod ($53 vs. $48), so the max price may be higher for him.

BTW, Pujols is now up to an offered price of 90.80, so his price is presumably creeping upward while he is OUT. There is no way to know where it may top out - or if it will top out.

Guru - that was the only theory I could come up with......did Magglio ever 'top out'I wonder?

Stl Cards - hey I just realized that the entire top 10 in the Celebrity leagues get autographed Ozzie baseballs! That's SWEET! I'm sorry I can't let you get the congratulatory call, but a signed ball should be good for you ;-)

.......and yeah, it's probably prudent to seriously consider an anti-Weaver strategy. I have Soriano, and so far, so good. If ARod, Pujols and others didn't have such good matchups I probably would have taken Lee as well.

Argh, can't win for losing.
Looks like Cordero's save will end up being worth 5.20 points.

At least Germano was a nice 61.74.

And Sheff with just shy of 20 points.

I hear ya Species - so many top pitchers getting lit up in June. And worst of all, I have owned most of them. Obviously I am not alone.

If only we could bring ourselves to start the 2nd tier SP's.

Will Haren be next tomorrow vs. the Cards ?!? Rates to be a 3 HR night for Pujols...

Yeah, I'm laughing about the same as the rest of you, profanity laden laughter. I briefly considered going with no starters but after missing Peavy thought better of it. Not to mention that I've been looking forward to Beckett's start all week. WooHoo! I'm guessing he must be having some kind of problem like maybe his blister coming back. Just freaking great.

I'd been thinking about dumping Beckett all afternoon, but ended up sticking with him. Glad to hear I have company.

My pitching choices have worked out pretty well lately, so I was due for one of these.

Guru should have warned us that he had Beckett and was due for one of these.

Pettitte, for instance, looked like a good matchup, but just can't bring myself to pull the trigger on those.

thank goodness they finally pulled the plug on Beckett. RH shows -31.31, though I think it's "only" -28.31 (gave up 10 hits, but RH is showing 11).

now we just need a big sox rally to save the -6.5 for the loss.

There's going to be a TON of opportunity for differentiation today. I'll have 3 SP and I'm guessing that 2 that I don't have will be even more popular picks. Plenty outside of those 5 who would be reasonable choices too. Should be interesting.

There are 9 SPs going to day that could be picked by people to start.
Some have what should be fairly good chances and some could be in trouble.
Really guess it depends on if you want to burn up innings potentially, or if you feel like waiting.
Wasn't going to go with any SPs, but now I'm toying with a couple after all.

There are 3 matchups that I really like based on how teams have performed against the Opposing Starters over the last 15 days.

Hmmm, just need to decide.
