12 Teams, cats are RIBC: SLG, OBP, R, RBI, SB and W, K, S, ERA, Whip

Outfield was lacking but I feel I made up for it in other areas.

I don't see anything overly positive or negative about it... I wish I could see some of the other squads to compare though. I find that easier.

This thread was full of classic Rob J, so why not add some classic Blue Hen.

For starters, this could be formatted better. I have to hit page down four times to see your entire roster.

True on the formatting bh just for you:

C Bengie Molina
1b Ryan Howard
2b Chone Figgins
3b Ryan Braun
ss Michael Young
cif James Loney
mif Placido Polanco
of Nick Markakis
of Rick Ankiel
of Gary Matthews Jr
of Jose Guillen
util Evan Longoria
util Randy Winn

Bench: Jay Bruce, Cameron Maybin, Andy LaRoche

SP Erik Bedard
SP John Smoltz
RP Trevor Hoffman
RP Matt Capps
P Daisuke Matsuzaka
P Javier Vazquez
P Yovani Gallardo
P Joakim Soria
P Brian Wilson
P Brandon Lyon
P Brian Bannister
P Al Reyes (definitely just a flier)

Bench: Chris Capuano, John Patterson (fliers)

Cats again:
RIBC- OBP, SLG, R, RBI, SB & W, S, K, ERA, WHIP

Very big rosters, I feel I have some holes in starting pitching and OF, hoping there will be some breakout stars I can snag off the wire. Overall very proud of my infield and relief staff.
I also am banking that at least 1 (if I'm lucky 2) of my prospects (Bruce, Longoria, Maybin) will be big in '08.

I stand by my comments. Your outfield is terrible and you have some overrated hitters (Molina, Young, Polanco). And your pitching is pretty suspect, with a lot of old guys, injury prone guys, and unproven guys. For a 12 team league, you should be able to do much better than that.

Gotta agree with BH.
If I got this team in an auto draft I would be mad at myself for not ranking my players better.
I would make sure I had Capuano in for the first two months and then deal him.
He has been decent in April and May and then sqadoosh.
DiceK will get you some K's but will kill your ERA and WHIP.

Well if the pros are already writing me off looks like I'm in for a loong season. I'll let you know how it finishes but I really only care about beating one guy in the league who I have a bet with.

You're in for a looong season, yes. I estimate 6 months.

With Braun and Howard you'll do well in Slg (how in the world did you get Braun AND Howard in a 12 team league?).

Figgins will get you started in the speed categories (SB and runs) but he cannot sustain you. You've got some guys who will really hurt your OBP but your Rbi's and Slg should be competitive.

As for pitching I would start dealing now. Deal Vazquez for a hitter while he has some value from last year (look at his history, he's all over the place). Daisuke will see his ERA drop below 4.00 this year and his whip should be decent too.

F9or Saves you've got Capps, Hoffman, Wilson, Soria and Lyon. Deal somebody for a hitter.

You can make trades and make this competitive or sit tight and be bummed.

I would build up a lead in saves and then trade. Or wait til some closer loses his job, and go to the team that owns him and be nice and offer one of your guys to trade him.

You think someone else will lose the job before Wilson, Lyon, or Soria?

this team has potential.
howard, braun, figgins, markakis, bedard, smoltz, dice-k, some closers...

a vigilant manager with a little luck could make it work. that outfield looks really suspect, but at least OF is the easiest thing to fix.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you only make 10 roster moves this season then you're doomed.

Yes, another closer will lose his job. Most likely due to injury. I like his poor man's outfield. He could have drafted OF with his first four picks and had a great OF. But, he didn't. He scraped this group together in the later rounds.

I am guessing in a 12 team league, he was drafting 10, 11 or 12th.

My guesses: Howard was his first pick, say 10th over all, then Braun at 15th overall, and then Bedard at 34th overall?

For what it's worth (and sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here) but here is the team I have to beat (our bet is for $50 for the regular season- whoever has better record; and $25 for the playoffs- whoever goes farther) Sorry I forgot to mention its an H2H league:
Who do you think has the better shot?
BTW: I'm claiming Heath Bell and Tony Pena (ARI) off waivers for LaRoche and Al Reyes.

Plus I gotta disagree with you bh, Polanco isn't really overrated if you get him in like the 15th right (and you gotta take into account the nice OBP and run production at 2b)

Help w/ trade (the Bourn for Capuano one fell through). I was offered Pierre for Dice-K. I really need SBs but is it really worth trading for such a 2 (SBs, runs) dimensional player? Further do you think Dice-K will improve w/ a year under his belt?
