Just looking around team sites, and noticed that the Rays are looking at building a new park. Here is the site with pictures. Being in Montreal, it reminds me of the huge toilet bowl we have in the east end of our city. Hope it works out better for them than for the Expos. |

I wonder how well it'll hold up in the inevitable thunderstorms. I'm sure they've thought it through, but I can't imagine sitting in that stadium during one. At least with an actual dome, you have actual coverage.
Nice concept though.

Al Lang?! Are they kidding? That area should have never been an option.
"They say the ballclub is more likely to succeed in a new stadium in north St. Petersburg, closer to the center of the Tampa Bay area."
Indeed. Makes no sense to make it MORE difficult to pull in fans from Tampa and Clearwater. If the Derby Lane property is available, that would be one of the better locations, IMHO. There's never been much of anything in that area anyhow and they could certainly build enough parking as well.
"'We are not sure what issues the Rays are referring to for a downtown stadium site,' said David Goodwin, city economic development director. 'We still consider downtown as a vibrant development location and an excellent stadium site.'"
Laughable! The mayoral candidates will get elected by those in downtown that want a stadium to stick around, but the only thing that has ever been "vibrant" in that area has been the crime.
