Had to!

3/11/2008 Matsui will be out for four-to-five days with an anal fissure, the Houston Chronicle reports. No reason to expand at all on what that means, just know that you won't see Matsui in a lineup for about a week.

Kaz Matsui will miss four to five days with an anal
fissure.

That's an unnatural tear or crack in the anus skin, for those of you not in the know. Matsui is expected to be out until at least Friday. Anal fissures can become chronic problems, but the Astros hope using a different medication will sooth Matsui's issue.

Maybe we can get Roger Clemens insight on this one down in Astros camp?

Felix Pie will be out a similar amount of time for surgery to correct testicular torsion. Originally, it was thought a good massage would set him straight, so to speak, but now it's knife time.

here's another one

Dodgers closer Takashi Saito did not make the trip Monday because of tightness in his right buttocks, which he initially felt Sunday.

Easily the best 3 injuries I've ever seen listed together.

words that shouldn't go together:
testicular + torsion
anal + fissure

no wonder Saito's butt tightened up.

Kelvim Escobar has torn shoulder

Pitcher Kelvim Escobar, an 18-game winner last season, revealed this morning that he has a tear in his shoulder, an injury that could require season-ending surgery and, possibly, end his career. (LA Times)

Shoulder injuries don't belong in this thread, Guru. Now if it were a groin tear...

At my draft this weekend, I was like "Why isn't Escobar taken?"

It's because everyone else had more time to research!

Putz on the DL with costochondritis.

No, that's not doctor-speak for man-breasts.

I also thought he was supposed to face Billingsley. Weird.

Got the story...the thought was the game would get rained out tonight...both teams held back their starters to start tomorrow. Weather cleared and Giants decided to put Lincecum in the game in the 4th...to promptly give up a run...should have just held him off until tomorrow.

From rotoworld:

The Giants scratched Tim Lincecum from his start Wednesday due to inclement weather.
Merkin Valdez is getting the start. Lincecum could enter later, depending on what happens with the rain in the area.

A's place Harden on DL

SportingNews.com: The Athletics placed RHP Rich Harden on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 3, with a strained back muscle. Fantasy spin: Manager Bob Geren said the Athletics will shut Harden down for an undetermined number of days before letting him try to throw again, so he might not return when eligible next Friday. Lenny DiNardo is likely to start in his place Saturday.
Next start: 4/17 SEA.

Any news on Carlos Guillen?

Last thing I've got is that he was pulled Friday with a mild hamstring strain and is day to day. Didn't play Saturday or Sunday

Guillen sits out in Chicago

Carlos Guillen, 1B DET
News: White Sox SS/1B Carlos Guillen (hamstring) missed Sunday's game at Chicago, as expected. He is considered day to day, but told The Detroit News Friday that he could miss a few games.

Analysis: That would put him in doubt for the upcoming two-game set against Minnesota. If you have a healthier alternative, this is a week we suggest using him because a hamstring injury can linger and there's no guarantee he'll be able to play a healthy week once he does return.

I guess Guillen is back. 3-4 with 3 RBI's. Fortunately I was too lazy to get him out of any lineups.

Its nice to just get lucky sometimes

Chris Snyder joins the list of injuries that make you say "OOOOWWWW!"

The Diamondbacks placed Snyder on the 15-day DL Tuesday with a left testicular fracture.

Like the blogger says what kind of healer do you have to be to recover from that in 15 days? Personally it will take me 15 days to recover just from watching it.

From rotoworld:
Elijah Dukes will miss at least 4-6 weeks after being diagnosed with a meniscus tear and a partial tear of the patella tendon.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

Now I know they often make sarcastic comments, but this is a little much, no?
