The league has been activated at Yahoo. All undrafted players are on waivers, with a release date of March 23.
If you want any players to start in the games next week, make sure you put them in the proper lineup slots.
If you have rationales to submit, please post them in the draft thread |

I appreciate the Red Sox trying to protect a one-run lead with Kyle Snyder. Kudos.

Standings page is now posted, and will be updated daily. You can also run split standings (by date) from the link on this page. Click the icon below, or the similar icon on the blurb page.
One caution - please do not change your team name at Yahoo during the season. The split standings program relies on matching the team name for both the begin and end date, and if you change your team name, this feature will fail (unless I hard code an adjustment in to the program).

Good job Guru! Manny again today means you'll probably be in first place tomorrow as well.

Jeeeesh. This will be a looooooong season, if the "slow starts" don't turn it around pretty soon.
Examples of "over the hill": Ortiz, Oswalt, and Kent. Then come the newly injured: Kazmir, Rolen, Pedro, Duchscerer and Carlos Guillen. Final insults provided by 2007 injured who have not rebounded in 2008: Overbay & Blaylock (most likely to have been joined by Rolen and Pedro had they not suffered new (differnt) injuries in 2008).
My targeted draft was better than I thought at selecting players to have a career season in 2008; however, it appears to be career down seasons. With better draft luck, I could have picked pre draft targets Tulowitzki and Sabathia as well.
Howard, Atkins and Burrell turned it around in 2007 after putrid starts...lightening will have to strike twice for me to become competitive this season. I am not feeling confident at this point.

Finally climbed out of 16th place. My first four hitting draft choices (Soriano, Teixeira, Tulowitzki and Posada) have underperformed to date, but I am sure they will come around. We are only 2 weeks into the season. Luckily I have avoided major injuries, but I have dug a nice hole.

Anyone looking to trade pitching? I've got plenty of OFer's I'd be willing to move: Dunn, Hart, Gomes, Patterson, Milledge, Willingham, Fukudome. I'd be willing to move anyone of them, obviously the price would vary.

Seriously, how locked in Carlos Quentin right now? It's sick. Hopefully Reyes can get it going by the time Quentin cools off.

Yeah, don't even remind me about Quentin! Looked at him multiple times during the draft, but thought he was going to sit in favor of Owens. I kept following him after too but for some reason never pulled the trigger. D'Oh!

I also figured that in a 2 run game Cabrera must be pitching well, until I see a line featuring 7 walks and only 2 K's :(

Well, maybe he is reading his own hype now on rotoguru in between innings. He just got caught trying to steal home.
(I know, likely a missed squeeze, but I like the idea of Quentin just taking off and thinking "Uptown could use the SB for RIBC.")

It is May. One month in the books and it looks like I'll have to claw my way out of the bottom four after a unexpectedly slow start. My draft objective and pre season projections showed me tracking in the top in both SLG and OBP, but instead both are way low and close to the bottom of the standings. The one category I expected to do poorly in was steals, and I am ranking high in that category, go figure. On the pitching side I feel like my team is ok, the starters just need to notch a few more W's. Bottom line is it is early. Just have to hope my top hitting picks Sori, Tulo, and Teix can get and stay healthy and return to expected form.

Cardinals have petitioned the league to have 4 of Lohse's runs changed to unearned citing an error should have been called. That would be nice :)

Some days you're clicking on all cylinders, and some days you cannot buy an RBI. Or some days Bobby Cox will find a new way to screw you out of a save.
Up until yesterday, there were no teams in the top five that were in this league last year. Congrats to the new league members.

How was Kershaw available to add as a free agent, when he wasn't even in Yahoo yesterday, PM when I checked?
Why wasn't he subject to waivers?

I've had 7 players hit the DL this season in AAA (posada, a-rod, wigginton, hawpe, pedro, keppinger, werth). In addition I've also dealt with some dnp situations (Sheffield for example). kinda doubt I'll get to vote on DL slots next year so I'll just state my opinion here.
There aren't enough slots on a team to be able to get through a situation like this. I know a slot or two were added instead of a DL slot, but as few bench slots as there are it's hard to believe. I've had to run on 4 starters/3 relievers most of the season just so I can cover my positions. I'm way behind in IP's and also games played in certain positions. Not only that, but I've had to cut several players that I absolutely didn't want to (quentin, kouzmanoff, werth for starters) because I was so pinched in some areas. Additionally, there's a long list of FA's I wanted to add but I can't because the DL players have my hands tied. It's bad enough to lose the production of the injured player, but then the damage kind of snow-balls. Even just one DL slot would have made a big difference for my team. I don't think you can expect a team to cut a player who is put on the 15 day DL just so they can cover that position.

We had a vote on that, and it barely lost. Maybe next year it will pass, since this league has a > 50% turnover.

Injuries are a double penalty. You lose the production of the guy hurt, and you also can't replace the AB's/Innings (if he's good enough that you can't waive him).

Right, but what if you have a guy that just sucks it up? You can't drop him and you can't even really bench him. Vernon Wells, 2007 - I had to start him and start him. Vernon Wells, 2008 - in one league I was able to pick up Ryan Ludwick to fill Wells' spot. I'd say the injury was better than the sucking.

The current season top 10, from Yahoo: 1. Lance Berkman 2. Josh Hamilton 3. Chase Utley 4. Chipper Jones 5. Nate McLouth 6. Dan Uggla 7. Cliff Lee 8. Ian Kinsler 9. Carlos Quentin 10. Miguel Tejada
Also in the team picture: Volquez (13), Ludwick (15), Marcum (17), E. Santana (19)
The only one I drafted on any of my 7 teams was Tejada. I may not be the world's greatest fantasy manager, but I am deeply convinced that ANYONE can win this game. It just takes a little luck.

Has anyone ever had 143 points in an RIBC league, let alone the main league before? It really seems amazing to me. Kudos to Coldwater Coyotes so far. Man, just about a week ago, I felt I was closing the gap, but now he's right back up in another stratosphere again.

I like the 1 K in 1 IP, but could do without the 90 era and 12 whip that Arroyo got me today! Considered benching him, but figured he'd then have a great game.

bh...just been there..well, OK...so I was really 15 points farther in the hole. Come backs are great...but I've lost all my fingernails trying to " clawl" (simultaneous crawl and claw) from the netherlands.
Best of luck. Not much help available on the wire...and not much trade bait on our rosters that won't further shoot ourselves in the foot.
I'm hoping for a bumper crop of call-ups and torn quads for all players over 28 :0p

I found out about the Rauch trade pretty early. And I went into various leagues figuring out who to pick up. I got Luis Ayala in G20 (Hanrahan was gone). It was a tougher decision in some leagues where I already had closers, and one league in particular where I'm 100 inning short.
But in RIBC, my entire team sucks, and it's reasonable that about half of my team could be waiver fodder, so I decided I'd get the Washington closer no matter what it took. I almost got Cordero too.

Just keep doing what you were doing before CC. I was in a similar position last year, watching a huge lead narrow down to a few points, but was able to hold on. Should be a tight race to the finish. Good luck to everyone still in contention for a top tier finish. I may have to battle BH for that 14th spot at this point as I'm much closer to that than anything else.

I'll be seeing you guys again next season! And before I forget, I suggest a rule that makes it so that inactive managers must go back to AA if they wanna stick around. just as an example, the guy who is in 3rd in my AAA league has been inactive since Aug 24 (he was in 2nd earlier this week). There are also 3 others that went inactive as far back as June and July. That's certainly their right, but I don't think any of them deserve to be called back to AAA next year.

Congrats Coldwater Coyotes. Great job all year. If you would have told me I'd have 128.5 points at the end of the year, I would have taken it in a heartbeat. The fact that I still lost by 7.5 points is a testament to how dominating your team was all season.
