The less this guy opens his mouth the better off he's gonna be.

"My only message is simple: The National League needs to join the 21st century," Steinbrenner said. "They need to grow up and join the 21st century. I've got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He's going to be out. I don't like that, and it's about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s."

"This is always a concern of American League teams when their pitchers have to run the bases and they're not used to doing it," Steinbrenner said. "It's not just us. It's everybody. It probably should be a concern for National League owners, general managers and managers when their pitchers run the bases. Pitchers have enough to do without having to do that."

That's Hank Steinbrenner, Hal's brother. Hank's the one with the mouth, Hal stays pretty quiet.

BTW, aren't the vast majority of baseball rules from the 1800's?

And then there's this guy who was named Babe Ruth. Good thing the DH rule didn't exist back then, eh?

i love Harold Steinbrenner whining like this. Dude, maybe you need to get better conditioned pitchers.

i mean, he got hurt running the bases. call the wahbulance.

It probably should be a concern for National League owners, general managers and managers when their pitchers run the bases. Pitchers have enough to do without having to do that.

God Forbid a pitcher running. I guess the Yankee pitchersw ont be running to cover first on a ball hit to the right or the plate on a wild pitch. I'd think it's easier to get hurt covering first. Dunno how many roll their ankle hitting the bag or even running into the runner. Just stupid ownership as usual.

I was ragging on the Yankee fan here who was always says how golfers aren't athletes, then we saw Tiger gut that knee thing out all week and all the torque and power of his swing... and then he saw that his pitcher couldn't even run the bases without a disaster lol...
