Makes me wonder if there is a rule on it or not. |

Hah! I'm going to re-double my efforts (at my wife's urging, oddly enough) to get my boy throwing both ways. He's left leaning (yeah, wrong forum) now, but I'm going to have to get him to consider a more moderate stance.
Is 16 months too early to consider his switch-pitching ability my retirement account?

BTW, did you catch the ESPN broadcaster saying 'typical Yankee stuff'. The National media again always portraying the Yankees as the villian ;)

There was a guy back in the '80s, Harris, with the Padres, Rangers, and Reds who was able to switch-pitch, and even had the glove, but I don't recall if he ever did in the majors.

They kicked the rule on the play. The pitcher has to declare which hand he will be throwing. The batter can then decide after that.

RE: 1
I've learned thta your child will have a dominant hand by the age of two no matter what you do to him/her before that to try a particular hand. Still my 3 year old seems to be right handed most itmes, but lately he's been doing a lot more with his left. Still he seems to throw more right handed. We have righties, lefties and some even-handed in our family so I've been joking about starting the game with his left and finishing with his right a lot lately. But I guess this situation where you can pick and choose is even better.

From what I understand the batter is not allowed to to switch sides. I dont see anything in the rules where a pitcher has to declare which hand he is pitching with.
Batter rules.
