0 Subject: Pitching Efficiency

Can someone please explain to me the pros and cons of pitching efficiency as it relates to fantasy baseball?

I've heard that the best way to use a trade is only if you're going to pick up someone that pitches the very next day but there's not always a good pitcher to go get.

For instance, I know that with the All-Star break coming up efficiency isn't what it was earlier in the year.

Sorry for my ignorance. If you can lead me to a link or share some thoughts, I'd appreciate it.

Also, is it ever okay to have, say, more than $10M left in the bank??

Wow. A blast from the past. Actual thoughts on trade management.

There were a number of trade threads out there back when I played TSN (or smallworld as it was called) 5 or more years ago:

Pink Pimp
Richard
Madman

Unfortunately, I'm not at all sure they are relevant to the game as it is currently played.

I seem to recall seeing a more recent Guru analysis based on the 5-day average pitching issues of today, but I have no idea if that's even current, or where it is.

Hopefully one of the current players will chime in.

A few more dredged up from the archives:

Sorry to bring up an old topic - Guru-Rotation vs.

What is Guru-rotation?

As to keeping some significant cash on the sidelines, it all depends. If your lineup is producing well, it doesn't hurt. Price doesn't correlate tightly with production, especially over shorter time frames.

"Price doesn't correlate tightly with production,"

Especially once you are over $85mil !!! (ok, don't take that as advice).

Thanks a lot guys! I am so new at all of this and these links will certainly help me I'm sure.

Now, I don't mean to bother you anymore than I already have but I would be very interested in hearing how the fantasy game is played now as compared to the "good ol' days" so to speak.

Still not sure how to apply the "extra" $7M I've got in my account. Seems like the heavy-priced players aren't giving back a performance that would match their price.

Its been a long time since I've played a cap game like TSN/Smallworld. As for holding extra money in the account, there are a number of ways to look at it:

1) Cash is a resource and if you aren't using it, its wasted. You might as well not have it.

2) The ultimate goal is not the most cash but to get the most points. If you have the most productive line up you can then the $7mil in the bank is not needed right now.

So look at each position and see: Do I have the best guy I can for points? If not then ask yourself - Is the points difference worth the cash? If its all extra cash thats gonna sit and do nothing then even minimal point gains is worth every penny you spend. But if you still have the need to build because your roster is full of cheap players that may fall off in the second half due to inexperience or history then maybe you need to do some cash building.
