0 Subject: Lucky 13 Fantasy Baseball 2009

Posted by: ChicagoTRS - [4110481415] Thu, Jan 29, 2009, 09:48

Time to start thinking about fantasy baseball.

Year number 7! of the Lucky 13 league.

Last years managers:
great one
chicagotrs
barilko6
wiggs
toral
wolfer
art for the hall
wazaaap_guy
jackhammers
Pancho Villa
sR
robJ
slizz

I will send out an email to everyone in the next couple days to gage interest. Check in here if you are definitely in or out for this season. I also need to look over last years rosters and figure out which players are keeper eligible.

I figure we will get started with the draft either 2/16 or 2/23. Hopefully we will be able to use Kafenatid again this year as it really makes managing the draft smoother.

I will either free form the keeper/farmer picks or you can enter them when you get on the clock. Remember...you need to draft a farmer hitter and pitcher.

Here are the remaining picks to be made in the last rounds:
26.1 Pancho Villa
26.3 toral
26.4 sR
26.5 art for the hall
26.6 robJ
26.7 wolfer
26.8 jackhammers
26.10 great one
26.12 chicagotrs
26.13 barilko6
27.1 barilko6
27.2 chicagotrs
27.6 jackhammers
27.9 art for the hall
27.10 sR
27.11 toral

Also remember I have an extra pitcher farmer by mistake in Bowden - so if you don't like your options, let me know and we can get him to you. And we could even find a way to get Cueto in your farmer carry over spot for cheap.

I have to leave, and my pick is next. Unless airallnite picks one of my players in que, I'm done.

pick #25 - regular pick in que

pick #26 - farmer hitter in que

pick #27 - keeper A Rowand in que

pick #28 - farmer pitcher Beavan not in que, not in system

Two missed picks in round #25, a couple in #24.

You'd think everyone would understand the que system by now.

Had to run back home for a minute, so I made my picks.

Viciedo is my farmer hitter.

PV...I deleted the Scherzer pick as he is a retained farmer...I remade the Viciedo pick (I had to us the 25.13 pick as the site would only let me use that pick). You need to make a new pick at 26.1.

Please no one make a queue pick for PV...that is his keeper...he needs to make one more regular pick to replace Scherzer.

No...you can continue if you want. I would.

At this point we are so late in the draft it really does not matter if someone gets skipped over a few picks...and it is in the rules that in cases like this the draft does continue.

woohoo! draft complete...

Jackhammers still has his last 3 picks to make. He has until the end of the day today to make those picks or he will just start with 3 empty roster spots he can fill with free agents. I will stop the draft at 5pm this evening. I think this is fair as it would be an advantage to be able to watch the news wire and cherry pick players for the next week before I start the season in Yahoo.

Important notes:

I will enter the players into Yahoo by the end of this weekend.

I will start the season Mar 30th in Yahoo...this gives us a week before the season starts.

All free agents will be on waivers to start the season including teams farmers. Do not pick up your farmers until they come off of waivers.

Teams will have until April 13th to roster your farmers (1 week from MLB season start) or they will become free agents open to the league. I will post a reminder on the Yahoo message board for players available in the Yahoo DB.

It would be helpful if everyone would post their new farmers on the Yahoo board.

Thanks...good luck this season!

Max Ramirez (Tx) qualifies as the farmer correct?

JH...Ramirez does not qualify as a farmer as he played 17 games in the majors last season.

If you still need both farmers...you can simply name them here for two of the picks you missed or post them on the Yahoo board.

Do I have to pick up David Price once hes off waivers?

Or do I wait until he gets called back up again?

Do we want to bump the trade deadline back to August 30th like most other leagues? Apparently Yahoo picked a default of 8/16 when you carry over settings. But you can go a full 2 weeks later and we've adjusted in Dirty Dozen, and its that way in G20, RIBC etc. I can't imagine a trade deadline nearly two months before the season ends (Oct. 4th).

As I mentioned in my victory celebration speech - I don't expect to return this season. This league really frustrated me - mainly a few of the managers who didn't check in for half the season made things difficult. If we got some new blood I'd consider it but I think I'd rather try doing an RIBC league at this point.

Thanks to TRS for all the work and concepts, it was a fun league.

Yes, I tried retiring last season but was talked into coming back. But alas, for some of the same reasons GO mentioned, I am going to step down as well.

Considering calling it the end of the league...unless I get encouragement otherwise.

7 years is a pretty good run and was always an interesting league.

I am so busy with goalline blitz lately that I am sure I would have slacked in fantasy. May just join one of the RIBC leagues.

What says you?

I would like to keep it going. 7 years is a very good run for a league, we have had plenty of good owners, so I say lets keep it going.

I would consider carrying on the league if there's some interest. I would need everyone's keepers and farmers. I think it's impressive we got the league to last for a long time. If not, its a shame I won't be able to field Tommy Hanson next year! Good luck to everyone this year.
