0 Subject: Rotohog Disses Wexst Coast (again)

Beware any west coaster considering playing any Rotohog fantasy game and more particularly 2009 baseball. Last year Rotohog effectively precluded west coast participants from fairly competing in basketball and football by structuring the games such that initial daily roster changes occured before the sun rose in the nation's most populous state. Baseball was the sole sport where west coasters had an equal chance to compete with 9 am PDT initial roster changes.
Now Rotohog has equalized the anti west coast discrimination for all sports. Despite a frequently asked questions answer which still references a 9 am PDT initial roster opening for baseball, the real time, found in the small print is 10 am EDT or 7 am PDT so unless you are willing and able to be on line to make roster changes at 7 am every morning please be aware that you will not be able to fairly compete with the east coast constituency as far as roster value is concerned.
Please be especially aware if you were considering competing in any of their pay games
that all west coasters will be at an extreme disadvantage trying to compete with EDT timers who have "normal" and convenient timing for their initial daily roster changes.
One wonders (1) How Rotohog with an otherwise quality platform can afford to "write off" the entire west coast and (2) how Rotohog can contniue to market pay games to west coasters with
contradictory trading desk starting times posted
all in small print and w/o adequate warning to west coasters of the substantial disadvantages they will face especially in the pay games.

If any of you wondered, yes I did win a pay baseball league last year, and yes I was blindsided by 6 am roster changes in football and yes Rotohog did refuse to refund my pay league fees when I discovered the hidden disadvantage
which effectively precluded me from fairly competing. I do consider Rotohog's "hiding" of the west coast disadvantage unethical as well
a dubious business practice. I also consider their refusal to refund my pay league admission when I discovered the hidden disadvantage as effectively classless.

disclaimer. I live on the west coast and don't play thsi game (or any of them)

Couldn't a typical east-coaster argue the trading desk opening at 10a is disadvantageous to them as they are at their job and many people have jobs where they cant be on the I-net at that time?

Depending on your personal situation, there will be a disadvantage to someone regardless of time, correct?

Just asking.

Their problem with trading floor hours has always been that they try to find the 'best' opening time, instead of just keeping the darn thing open as much as possible.

That said, I can't believe anybody is complaining about the trading floor hours as the main problem this year. Virtually all of the top players I've talked to so far aren't playing because THERE ARE NO PRIZES worth mentioning.

At least 12-15 disgruntled former Rotohoggers have signed up at my new site, and I'd encourage you guys to try it out. We've currently got a $100 freeroll 'April Home Run Derby' open, but our bread and butter will be daily contests. If you're going to give it a shot, use the link in the Draftbug ad on the front page here, so that Rotoguru gets credited for the referal.

Alex the problem is that the only important time is the initial dalily reset- if you miss that you will forever be behind the RV curve. My real problem with rotohog was not when they elected to open the trading- they have every right to disenfranchise west coasters or east coasters w/o work access if they like in the free games- but failing to adequately disclose a major competetive disadvantage before taking money for their pay competitions is an entirely different matter.
Actually more than complaining about what to me is now a throw-away free game- mostly what I was trying to do was warn west coasters not to participate in their pay competitions unless they are very early risers.
