Annual thread. Surprised this wasn't done earlier:

AL East: Yankees
Central: Indians
AL West: Angels
Wild Card: Devil Rays
Yankees over Rays

NL East: Mets
NL West: Dodgers
NL Central: Cubs
NL WC: Phillies
Dodgers over Phillies

WS: Yankees over Dodgers in 6

AL Cy Young: James Shields
NL Cy Young: Johan Santana

AL MVP: Teixeira
NL MVP: Wright

AL RoY: Joba Chamberlain (does he qualify?)
NL RoY:

The AL East is a 3 team race until the end with the Sox Yankees and Rays. Sox don't quite cut it because of injuries. :( (yes this from a sox fan, but it seems to be a harsh reality for this coming season).

The Royals are a .500 club
Detroit still flounders this season.
The Cardinals are a .500 club
Joba Chamberlain is in the running for the Cy Young.

I'm tempted to put NY, CHI, and LA as the division winners in both leages with both wild cards coming out of Missouri, but...

ALE: NY Bos(WC) TB Tor Bal
ALC: Min Chi Cle KC Det
ALW: LAA Sea Oak Tex
NLE: NYM Atl(WC) Phi Fla Was
NLC: StL Chi Mil Hou Cin Pit
NLW: LAD SF SD Az Col

ALCS NYY ove Min
NLCS LAD over Atl
WS NYY of course

ALCY: Kazmir
NLCY: Johan
ALMVP: Teixeira
NLMVP: Soriano
ALROY: Matt Weiters
NLROY: Tommy Hanson

Random predictions (not in bold)
- First manager fired: Bud Black
- AROD - AL HR king with 37, even missing 6 weeks of the season. More revelations into his personal life become season long distraction.
- Dan Haren will throw a no hitter.
- Trendy 'dark horse' Royals will be an under .500 team.
- Tampa still draws horribly in attendance
- Sheffield hits HR #500 as a Met, as does Carlos Delgado (needs 31)
- Randy Johnson wins #300 (needs 5, gets 8).

Yeah, I've got a few bold statements up my sleeve. First, I think the Mets' private jet is going to crash. I don't know why I have come to that conclusion, it has something to do with that plane ditching into the Hudson and the fact that they have so many top fantasy players on the squad. The nail that stands the tallest gets hammered.

Bud Selig will go all George W. after this disaster and finally get to contract the league. In order to quickly get a tenant into Citi Park, Bud declares that one existing team must move. Everyone freaks out, but it comes down to the Nationals, the Brewers, and Tampa. A mob burns down Selig family members' houses in Milawakee, Congress authorizes the Special Forces and the Marines to deploy around the Nationals' stadium and MLB headquarters. So Tampa moves, the fourteen people with tickets to Jason Bartlett Bobblehead Night shrug their shoulders and head off to a strip club.

American League: The three best teams are in the AL East. The AL West is the worst division by far, but the Angels still manage to win, even though they only tally 88 victories, followed by the A's, then the M's and the Rangers.

The AL Central is won by the Twins, followed by the Tribe and the White Sox. The Royals are not the darlings everyone is waiting to see, but Alex Gordon finally starts to play like the stud everyone was waiting for. But they are better than Detroit, who can't pitch.

The AL East is a tight race all year, but, hear this, Joe Girardi gets FIRED in June. The Yankees start abysmally, they really miss ARod's bat, CC and AJ start real slow, Derek Jeter is just above replacement level, Robinson Cano is well below replacement level. Mariano Rivera goes down for the year and Damaso Marte leads the team in saves. When they sink to five games under .500, Girardi is history. In comes Chris Chambliss and they explode. The Red Sox are solid. The Rays are relying heavily on their superior starting pitching and a great season from Carlos Pena and Evan Longoria.

Rays win the AL East with 95 wins. The Yanks have to win two of three against the Rays in October to force a tie with the Red Sox for the Wild Card. The Red Sox goes all Bucky Dent on the Yanks and beat them.

Twins v. Red Sox
LAA v. TB

Red Sox v. LAA

Angels win, playing the 2006 St. Louis Cards - Jered Weaver as Jeff Weaver.

The Cubs are the best team in baseball. They win 100 games, no one else in the Central is close. It goes Cubs, Mil, Reds, Cards, Astros, Pirates.

NL West goes Ariz, LA, SF, CO, SD. DBacks look great with a tough line up and the two of the best starters in Webb and Haren.

NL East is Phillies, Mets (record extrapolated from time of crash), ATL, FLA (under .500), Nats. Phillies land Matt Holliday from the A's just before the deadline and he destroys the NL in that little bandbox.

Cubs v. Ghost Mets
Phillies v. Ariz

Cubs v. Phillies - This series is awesome, it has the feeling of the 2003 Yanks v. Sox ALCS. You just know this is the first of many in a great rivalry.

Cubs over the Angels. CUBS WIN!

AL MVP: Miguel Cabrera
NL MVP: Milton Bradley!
AL CY: F Liriano
NL CY: Johan Santana
AL ROY: Price
NL ROY: Micah Hoffpauir

NL Comeback: Javier Vazquez
AL Comeback: Carlos Pena

I'll revisit this come November, but UGH! I think the only prediction I got right was the Mets private jet crashing, though most commentators called it a train wreck.

Missed the NL MVP by THIS MUCH !____________________!
