The season begins.

The RIBC icon on the blurb page now links to the current league summary page:

Hopefully, everything is working properly. Split standings may or may not work right away. If not, I'll have that working within a day or so - once we have some standings to split!

16.05 Nick Swisher, 1b/OF, NYY

This is an upside pick as well as a flex pick. Currently it seems as if Swisher is the odd man out in the Yankees' OF/DH rotation. However, it's possible the Yankees could tire of their pair of young CF's....or aging Johnny Damon or Hideki Matsui could get hurt, or Girardi could possibly platoon Nady and Swisher in RF.

In reality I was on a long weekend and rushed this pick. Had I taken more time I probably would have felt more comfortable with the playing time of Ian Stewart and taken him....or take the huge upside of Delmon Young. But I didn't.
====================================

I need to take more long weekends and rush more picks in future drafts. Would do wonders for my standing.

argh. my DL collection continues to grow. just like last year. Smoltz I took on willingly, but Kuroda and now Gordon, no. just let the bleeding stop there please.

another thing annoying me today, the stupid games that start at 11 am central while my lineup still isn't in order! I almost always check my lineups before I go to bed but not this time. I check in at 11:40, and I have the non-starting Baker locked at C. Of course shoppach goes on to have a nice day. I'm already way short on games at C.

I've now left 14 runs and 15 rbi on the bench this season. screw you too fantasy baseball gods! I flip the bird at ye.

Nothing like the old fashioned 8 out save from my FA pickup Todd Coffey.

Many of you may laugh, but I currently have noone that I am wanting to drop. Sitting in the bottom half and looking for a shakeup though, if anyone else is in the similar boat.

I have 4 closers somehow. I would like to trade one for a hitter. I prefer to keep Gonzalez and Downs but you never know, if the price is right.

Steals is going in the right direction for me now, so I got a couple fast guys plus some underachievers that could be worked into a deal. Sent a couple offers, and will probably send a few more out over the weekend. Not really sure what I'm looking to move or acquire really, just getting bored of waiting. If anyone has any ideas, send an offer. Also, I probably won't overpay for a hot start, unless a Blue Jay or LHP is involved.

Yeah, no $hit! Where the F did that come from?

I'm trying to find a silver lining for my team. I am deluding myself into thinking positively, considering my 2nd (BJ Upton), 3rd (Ortiz) and 4th (Guerrero) round choices are all significantly underperforming so far.....and I do get Joe Mauer (6th round pick) into the lineup for the first time as well.

Of course, on the flip side of that I have the significantly overperforming starts from Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher, Asdrubal Cabrera and Shin-Soo Choo.

Did Rheo really draft Matt LaPorta? Geeeeeeeeez this league is tough. I was all excited not to see him on the transaction list a couple of days ago.....alas that excitement was for naught.

A fun league as always. You really have to be ahead of the curve on the waiver wire.

So last year my team turned around when I lost internet access for a while. And now this weekend with limited chances to check, my team has suddenly risen. That tells me that maybe I shouldn't tinker so much. But I dunno, where's the fun in that?

...Alhough I just did make a counter offer, I usually am not into trading while my team is on fire. But I might have some counters for some recent bigger name offers once it is my teams turn to ride the rollercoaster down again. My CI depth or a lack of BlueJays bats are my current weakspots if anyones lookin to make me an offer I can't refuse in the meantime....

Also, ewwwww the WhiteSox are bad right now. Glad I dumped Gavin Floyd when I did. He's not worth the K's. I even reached to draft him cause I thought that offense would disguise his averageness. Too bad the offense has caused him to stop trying. He knows they won't score for him. Ha Ha. They still could win the Central. I hope someone picks him up and he makes me eat my words, for comedy's sake.

I am in the market for a solid starting pitcher. I have offense to trade, especially steals.

Note: I am unlikely to undervalue BJ Upton despite his slow start. Like the kid too much to discount his value.

better bump this.

Trying to look at standings by date but the stats are messed up because yahoo added GP to their standings page. Now GP's show up as R's under the "associated stats" section.

If only my 'pen wasn't in shambles right now...

I will say, however, that Mike Gonzalez is especially frustrating, and that trading and making questionable decisions are two of my favourite activities.

Speaking of making questionable decisions, see post 14. If I wasn't still full from the lifetime supply of alphabet soup that Gavin Floyd has been feeding me, then I would have dumped Magglio and Burrell ages ago. And I just know that they'll do good if I drop them. And do bad if I keep them. They're all out to get me, I say!

They're not ALL out to get me actually. Just realized the season is half over, and I'm sitting in 3rd. Just looked back at my draft, and it's looking like a C/C+ effort. Very rare for me to not flunk the draft. I'll take it.

[24] Yep, I was just thinking that. He was so terrible earlier in the season, that when he was demoted to AAA, I figured I needed to cut bait. I guess I should have been more patient.

During Nolasco's tenure on my squad, he posted a 9.07 ERA and a 1.81 WHIP.

To add insult to injury, I picked up Dontrelle Willis when I dropped Nolasco. I did eventually get Fernando Nieve from Willis, but at this point, I'd sure rather have Nolasco, from all appearances.

I hate Piniella. This jackass keeps changing his lineup cards and yahoo doesn't load the updated one til the game starts (as far as I can tell). I keep getting screwed by starting or benching Fox based on the early lineup that piece of crap submits. Cost me another HR tonight! I don't know of any other manager that does this on a regular basis.

Looks like I gave Holt Cy-Young Greinke for free. I traded Greinke and Cantu for Zimmerman. At the time of the trade, Cantu was mediocre at best and Zimmerman was good. Besides, I've got too many CIs. Cantu was basically a throw-in so I can pick up another player from different position. After the trade, Zimmerman is still good but Cantu becomes red-hot and even out-performs Zimmerman. What a trade!!

I should know that the best trade should be the one that has never been realized. Last year I almost traded Cliff Lee to Guru at the deadline. I didn't remember much of the trade but I did feel great at the end of the season that the trade never went through.

haha - so far so good. I think your hold on first is pretty firm though. there's just not enough teams close enough in the right categories to do any damage.

I've been proud of my team so far; doing pretty well in the % categories this season, but I'm still in a serious struggle to maintain a top 6 position. I just want to keep from being sent to AAA at this point.
