0 Subject: Back-to-Back 300 HRs

Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko each hit back-to-back HRs, each for the 300th HR of their career.

The odds against that happening have to be astronomical.

I saw that. It's definitely not anything that has ever happened in the history of baseball. In fact, it'd be interesting to see the highest number that has been achieved by two players in the same game (or even the same day).

Further proof that Germans love David Hasselhoff.

If I heard the Sox announcers right yesterday, it had never been accomplished at any century level on the same day/game before.

I believe SportsCenter said today that it had never happened in the same day.

Of course not. But what's the highest number that's ever been achieved in the same game? 12?

I had heard there have never been "milestone" type homers hit by the same team in the same game...never mind back to back.

As for highest number in the same game/day...I am sure Bonds/McGwire/Sosa had some same day and same game high number homers.

I think McGwire and Sosa hit #66 on the same day, but I meant career numbers.

Doesn't answer BH's question, but on 7/17/98 [different game]: Albert Belle (300) and Rafael Palmeiro (300).

That's part of the question. Where did you find that?

From baseball almanac:

On 4/19/38 Ernie Koy Brooklyn & Heinie Mueller Philadelphia became the first two major leaguers to hit their first career home run, on their first at bat, on the same day--and it has not been accomplished since

Not bad. I still wonder how many times the same number has been achieved.
