Bryce Harper sets his sights on Cooper's town... at age 16.
"Be in the Hall of Fame, definitely," says Harper when asked by Verducci about his goals. "Play in Yankee Stadium. Play in the pinstripes. Be considered the greatest baseball player who ever lived. I can't wait." |

Justin Upton was the same way. So far so good on that one. Harper looks quite good.

I first heard of him after that HR derby at the Trop. The kid has an all-world swing and serious power.
But baseball is not basketball and to call this kid LeBron is ridiculous. Baseball is such a different game, LeBron could have made an NBA roster at age 16, I don't think Bryce would get a cup of coffee, yet.
Dump the "tools of ignorance" and get a new glove, outfielders or first base. Save those knees.

Mauer hasn't done that yet and I don't think people are complaining. But I don't think Mauer has the upside. Wasn't Wieters supposed to be a top 5 catcher this year?

Wah? Are you looking at your 2007 Baseball Prospectus? You might want to see how's he's doing right now...
And, yes, MANY people are complaining about Mauer catching.

To clarify, I meant Mauer doesn't have the upside to be the next Pujols or the LeBron of baseball. Of course, that's about the only upside he doesn't have.
