Interesting. Seems to indicate that Nielson' algorithm sucks. I'm big on data, but anecdotally, it seems preposterous to think that the Indians are more hated than the Yankees or Red Sox.

How about this... the Yankees have more fans than any other team, right? we can agree on that. So if they have the largest portion of the fans, they cannot have the largest portion of people hating them, right? If anything, I would have thought the Red Sox would be most hated based on this theory.

i would imagine much of the hatred for the Indians comes from Indians fans themselves, because the team sucks so much.
as for the Red Sox, it serves logic that there are a lot more Yankee fans than Red Sox fans, and they hate the Red Sox, hence their number two ranking.
then there's cincy and houston, who are somewhat inept, which might explain their high ranking.
it doesn't take science to know that the Yankees are the most hated team in baseball. it just takes common sense.

Why would the two Ohio teams be #1 & 2? Doesn't make sense.
Of course, with the insufferable Red Sox and the loudmouth Yankees splitting the "hatah" votes, I guess someone has to win, right slizz?

ESPN's over night host has a better methodology. He went to Google and typed in "I hate" plus teams' names. Results: Indians 160,000; Yankees 1,700,000. (Approx.: I didn't take notes).

As a Chicago guy, I'm surprised the White Sox are on that list and the Cubs aren't. I really didn't think enough people cared about the White Sox to hate them that much.

I think that is what the whole thing is about, teams that aren't really cared about. Use the term "Most Hated" and boards like this have a field day. What was said in post #9 makes the most sense.

Yep, simple marketing error here. If the question to the people does not include the words 'hate' and/or 'despise', you can't conclude anything with regard to people 'hating' or 'despising'.
You ask 10 different people for the meaning of a 1.1 score on a "sentiment scale" and you'll get 10 different answers.

Maybe there were a disproportionately high number of responses from actual Indians who have been protesting sports teams using Indian mascots... Or the methodology sucked.

Those results show that Nielsen's internet algorithm is worthless.
