Tough few days for Yankee fans. Bob Sheppard is sorely missed as well.

Wow. I just heard that Bob Sheppard passed away, and now this.

Like him or not, he continued a tradition of excellence in the Bronx.

He started in Cleveland, where he tried to buy the Indians at one point and was rebuffed (he owned a huge shipbuilding works in Lorain, Ohio, where I was born and raised). Another in a long line of "what if?" facing Cleveland fans.

"Winning is the most important thing in my life, after breathing. Breathing first, winning next." George M Steinbrenner III

Sad week for the Yankee family.

Man, it seemed like Steinbrenner would live forever. He was just such a fixture for baseball in general. Even after 'retiring' and handing the reigns over.

Love him or hate him, you have to admit he's had a major impact on the game.

I feel a disturbance in the force!

You'll be missed George. Without your powers, the AL is now due for a 15 year drought.
