I have sent out 16 invitations for the 2011 RotoGuru Invitational Baseball Challenge. Fifteen of the invitees have responded with a commitment to play. I am still awaiting a response from one.
As background, the RIBC invitations went to the top 6 in last year’s RIBC (excluding me), plus the top three teams in each of the two AAA leagues, plus the winner of each of two AA leagues, plus me. That makes 15 teams. Of the two 4th place finishers in the AAA leagues, I selected the one who finished closest to third place to fill the final spot.

A separate thread will be set up shortly to begin the process of filling Qualifying Leagues.
The first regular season MLB game is on March 31. In the past, the draft has required about 15 days, so I expect to start the draft no later than March 15. This year, the Draftime.com software offers enhanced queue capabilities (including round-specific queues and auto-picks), so I expect that the draft might move along a bit faster.
I’ll post a recap of last year’s rules and settings shortly. I expect to use Yahoo as the hosting system once again.

I still hope to start the draft on or about March 14.
We'll be starting our draft position selection round shortly. This if the process we use to establish the draft order. I'll generate two sets of random numbers via random.org to set up the order for that round. Who volunteers to get an automated email copy of those numbers, for audit verification?

We can begin this process immediately. Although we will have no "clock" per se, if someone fails to select within 24 hours of his turn, I reserve the right to skip that person and move on. Please try to keep this process moving along.
MBT, you the the first choice to select you draft position. Remember that the draft will snake, so if you take the first pick, your second pick will be the last one in the second round (pick #32).

I emailed ywk and told hm that he has until noon ET tomorrow, or we will move on. I believe he lives in Taiwan, so that will be around midnight his time.
Still haven't heard from MBT. I wonder what's up with that?

My plan is to officially start the draft on Monday morning (March 14). I will activate the draft software on Sunday afternoon, which will allow everyone to begin setting queues, if desired, and to familiarize yourselves with the updated interface.
A few of the very useful enhancements that should allow the draft to move a bit faster than in the past:
1. You can set your queue to autopick the top name - with no need to have a designated picker act for you.
2. You can set a queue to be used for a specific round only. If there is no round-specific queue, then the general queue will apply.
3. You can still set up a designated picker if you want - this may be desired if you want some "logic" applied to your pick, such as "don't someone at the same position as my previous pick"
4. You can have your queue activated after a delay. For example, you can have the queue autopick one hour after your turn has started, allowing you to make you own pick manually if you are available.
5. You can get email notifications for each pick, or for a specified number of "on deck" picks in advance of yours.
There are probably other features that I've forgotten. Hopefully, we can advance at a pace of about 2 rounds per day.

FYI, make sure you can log into the Draftime.com website from wherever you are going to be drafting. I found out today that the site is blocked at my work so I'm going to have to plan accordingly with utilizing Q's. KKB is trying to help me with a workaround, but I don't know if it's going to be successful.

GoToMyPc.com is a website that allows you to remotely access your home computer . I have been on computers that will not allow me to access certain fantasy site, but I have used GoToMyPC to go to my home computer and from there was able to get to these sites. It costs about $19 a month for one home computer.

[36] logmein.com has a free version of software that allows you to log into a remote computer. That would probably work as well. You need to install the software on the computer would be logging into, but not on the computer you would be coming from - so you wouldn't need to install anything on your work machine. Just access through a browser.
