A Gurupie passed along this email that he received recently from RotoHog:
Thank you for asking about the status of our Salary Cap Baseball game. The game is not yet ready for launch, but we want to give you a heads-up on what will be new in 2011.

Starting with Baseball 2011, we will be launching our Salary Cap games within Facebook.com. You will need a Facebook account in order to play the game.

We believe that making this change will lead to a much improved user experience. In addition to providing a simpler login, fully integrating the game inside of Facebook will make it easier for you to invite and compete with your friends, as well as connect with a much larger audience of fantasy baseball fans, many that were never familiar with RotoHog previously.

Game Highlights:

- Same two ways to play: Salary Cap Basic and Salary Cap Premier

- Same pricing algorithm

- $1,000 to the overall winner and larger prize pool than 2010

Thank you for being patient with us while we get the game ready for the 2011 season.

I'll have to wait to see the interface before I can decide if I'll provide statistical support this year.

Interest in the RotoHog salcap games has waned - at least at this forum. If significant reprogramming is needed, I may pass.

The way player prices was handled last year killed the game for me.

Can you make as many moves as you want before the seasons starts, or do they count as trades once you picked someone.?

Rotohog is up by the way.

Mike I didn't play last year, can you explain what your concern was?

As I recall Nerve, there was no damper on the price changes, which led to some wild fluctuations. I think I was able to ignore RV in June. Lost interest after a while

I don't yet see the RotoHog Salary Cap game. Only the Stock Exchange game, which is a different game.

Last year, the repricing formula at the beginning of the season was so messed up that almost all teams could afford all-star rosters by early May, if not sooner. The algorithm was changed during the season, but the damage was already done.

Although the revised repricing formula is better, most games since then have still generated inflated roster values earlier than they used to. The issue is a combination of a pricing formula without much dampening, plus initial player pricing that is not high enough.

Last year's SalCap game also had a botched point formula for saves, rendering closers wholly irrelevant.

IPO's are out.

It looks like you have to "like" Fastpoint Games on Facebook to get more information.

Just to update & clarify a few things.

The salary cap games are now available, but you must access them through your facebook account. The games are listed as "Fastpoint games"

For the premier (pay) game, there is no distinction between hitting and pitching trades this year. You get 6 trades per week, to use however. Not a good change.

Finally, I do not plan to provide sortable stats for these games this season. I have not yet "solved" server access through the new facebook interface to be able to generate updated price lists, etc. And the RotoGuru demand just doesn't seem to be there. So if you want to play, you are on your own.

I'm going to play a team Dave. I can think of worse ways to spend 20 bucks than donating to you.

I can't really fault Rotohog for going this route. Anyone who is playing the hoops game knows that the format is dying if not already dead. People are "addicted" to Facebook which in a lot of ways is what is needed to play the Ultimate/Premier version of the game. For people who check Facebook everyday its not that much of a nuisance to click the APP or whatever its called for the game.

The non separation of HT/PT is disappointing but it looks like they have settled on that. Maybe if the game gets back to acceptable participation levels they will listen to suggestions but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
