We no longer have more frequent general threads, so I thought I'd put up this occasional one.

Phillies game tomorrow (4/7) already postponed. Lots of rain coming through the area tomorrow which is probably why. Adjust rosters accordingly.

Not a good year for lefty pitchers so far. Matt Moore is the latest casualty. Hamels, Kershaw, Minor, Chapman should all be back soonish at least. Lot of injuries all over, maybe it's not just the lefty pitchers. Teixeira, Robertson, JReyes, Profar hurt too. Who else?

Rockies hitters are doing their thing. Adam Laroche with a fast start?!! Closer carousel keeps doing its' thing.

Scully still sounds sweet.

I think the bigger story would be if Teixeira and Reyes WERENT' hurt.

Righties aren't faring much better with Middlebrooks, Machado, Latos and Janssen all on the DL, too.

Truth. Another usual suspect: Tulo, is nursing a quad as usual...

Beltre might be down too. Double whammy for me.

Josh Hamilton, and James Paxton officially down. Droppin like flies.

Billy Hamilton woke up! On my bench, but I'm still pumped. Lawrie, ditto. Still so early, lots goin on though.

Reliever awards named after Mariano and Hoffman, that's kinda cool.

Paging Manny Machado. I really could use your help about now!

Can't even find a tentative return date for the guy.

I'm sorry, but if that is clear and convincing evidence to over-turn the call they might as well just scrap instant replay now cause the umps are just doing whatever the hell they want.

Blah - stupid early game. I still can't get damn ESPN fantasy to display game times in central time zone.

I read somewhere that Matt Moore makes over 20 pitchers to have TJ surgery this year. Josh Johnson could be next.

That's unreal.

Another stupid bench clearing brawl

I am tired of baseball's stupid "unwritten rules". A rookie pitcher should not be mouthing off at a player who just crushed him, fans don't care if you watch your fly ball or not.

How is it that in the NBA if you leave the bench during a fight, you are automatically suspended but in baseball, every player can run out of the dugout and bullpen to incite an already tense situation? If a player was guaranteed a suspension for leaving the bench/bullpen, there would not have been a fight, just a rookie pitcher mouthing at Gomez and his lips flapping in return.

I hate it when I have a pitcher in one league, and in another league my H2H opponent has him. And the pitcher is doing very well that night.

Here's an article by Jason Stark discussing the trend of pitchers having TJ surgery since 2000.

Add AJ Griffin to this year's total, but still trailing 2012's spike of 36.

An odd pitching stat, in this early season:

Jean Machi (RP - SF) has 4 wins in just 10.2 IP. This ties him for the high in MLB.

Anibal Sanchez, Matt Cain, Danny Salazar, Matt Moore, Cole Hamels, Francisco Liriano, Jeff Samardzija, A.J. Burnett, and Justin Masterson all have zero wins so far.

I actually did. His first week and a half or so was pretty horrid, but he's settled in and has been doing just fine since. I have him in 2 leagues...both keepers.

Edwin Encarnacion is having a pretty nice May.

Two homers from tying Mantle's AL May record, and three from an asterisked ML May record.

About fifteen at bats to go, just needs to keep up his May pace is all.... The James Shields matchup Thursday should be a battle.

Shouldn't there be a limit beyond which they have to show players with their current team's cap? Looking at the Boston game on MLB GameChannel, they showed the next three players for Boston all with last year's caps: Pierzynski, Carp, and Sizemore.

Jeez-wonder why they had him with the Mariners cap? Must be a sale on outdated player headshots.

Yahoo PRO League
I sent Cain straight up offer for Cuddyer last week. Now he's hurt. Today the guy took the trade.

A couple people have protested and obviously I don't want the deal - will be curious what the Yahoo PRO League council does with this decision.

Yeah, that's why I never leave offers up once games have started, you never know what might happen and who might accept. I just cancel them and sent the owner to let me know if he wants to revisit the talks.

Near perfecto... Kershaw looked nasty tonight! 15k, 0h, 0bb. One error.

Dodgers are the Nolan Ryan of baseball teams. If I'm predicting next no-hitter in MLB, I'd still predict Kershaw.

http://news.rotowire.com/Jason-Lane-googid499185-spmlb.htm

Jason Lane has returned as a pitcher? Yes that Jason Lane. 26 HR for the Astros World Series team in '05. He had two bad years in 06-07 and has been in the minors ever since. He actually has a shutout going through about 5 IP so far. He's also 1 for 2 at the plate. He should be hitting clean-up for the Padres.

Great story, one of the best of the year.

Lane was great today, and agreed - he's probably the 3rd best hitter in that lineup.

Fun fact: Lane actually played for the Padres a couple games before hitting the minors. His last game? That would be Game 163 in Rocktober, 2007. Happy to see that won't be his final baseball memory.

8/26 game Rays vs Orioles. Anybody know why Alex Cobb stopped pitching after only 4 innings?

Yeah I found something 2 days later - 90 pitches and feeling a little under the weather.
Cobb was my pick for break out pitcher of the year. And he's definitely shown signs of why I thought that. Unfortunately he lost about 6 starts to an injury. Figure another 3 wins and 40 k's from those starts. Plus his first two games back he was a little rusty. But I'm confident in him. Drafted him in all but 1 league this year.
