Wondering about your thoughts on his antics.

Personally, I think Ventura was right to hit Lawrie the day after the dirty slide. Lawrie (who always plays like he's running through a wall) is something of a hothead but he was surely warned beforehand to take his punishment and move on, which to his credit, he did. But before the purpose pitch, I believe Ventura was taunting and jawing. That is not how it's done. Especially the day after.

Then Herrera decided to reignite the fire. That's not Ventura's fault but even teenagers know that attitudes like his can be contagious.

Yesterday Ventura hit Abreu. That was possibly an accident, but what exactly is Ventura's philosophy if he doesn't expect retaliation?

I think most people doubt Sale intended to hit Moustakas in the head. It seemed more likely a high and tight brushback pitch that didn't break as much as expected. So given Sale's reaction and especially once we know Moose is ok, that be it.

Then before the big brawl after Eaton's at bat, Ventura's story - that he fielded the ball off balance and found himself close enough to the line that he thought about a tag and took two steps that way - seems believable based on the replay.

And I do think Eaton said something first. Apparently Ventura quick pitched and he didn't like that. But in that situation the worst possible thing Ventura can do is escalate. It's late in the game with a good chance at a win after both teams have already been warned. Letting Eaton get the better of him in that moment can only hurt his team. You think Eaton wasn't thinking that very thing in that moment?

Now there is at least one more likely suspension coming (please please not Cain) and for a good while moving forward opponents will know how easy it is to get Ventura to lose his cool.At another forum I frequent about 1/3 seem to fully support Ventura's aggression this year, most saying he is just defending his teammates and some even going so far as to say that players like him are exactly what MLB is missing.

I posted a similar comment there but I think there are a lot of younger contributors to the Rotoworld forums so that discussion is a bit off the rails.

Thoughts here?

This is a good analysis I think, and I'm 100% certain Eaton took advantage of the guy's youth and knowing that Ventura was likely a bit off balance from what had been going on anyway.

Psychological warfare.

Ventura will learn. But probably not before his wallet is a little lighter!

Seems pretty spot on to me.
Would just like to see if Ventura can develop into #1 or #2 starter and make something of his talent before a batter takes him out.

Looks like Ventura has dropped his appeal, and will sit the 7 games.

of course he does. He timed it to get his next start in. He sits 7 games with a day off in there for the rest of the rotation. He effectively misses 1 game.
