I know its not 2016 yet but rather than start a new thread each time a player dies like we have in the past I thought we could keep commemorative thread.
Dave Henderson passed away today at the young age of 57. |

Monte Irvin HOF died on January 11.
Now if you're a hard-ass realist, you might say, "Monte Irvin wasn't a real Hall of Famer. he just got in becuz the HOF felt guilty about not admitting blacks, so they elect any plausible Negro league/MLB body."
But that's wrong. Read Rob Neyer on the subject.

Garagiola, who was awarded the Ford Frick Award -- presented annually to a broadcaster for "major contributions to baseball" -- by the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991, was the play-by-play voice of baseball for NBC for nearly 30 years, beginning in 1961. He worked alongside Curt Gowdy, Tony Kubek and Bob Costas on the network's "Game of the Week."
After leaving NBC in 1988, Garagiola became the commentator for the California Angels and Diamondbacks until retiring from broadcasting in 2013.
RIP Joe Garagiola
