I am about to generate a random order for managers to select their draft position. To do this, I'll start with the following alphabetical list:
Blue Hen BMD Da Bomb Filthy Great One Guru Holt Jasonprof jdrenbarger Matt G Meatwads Mikulka Slizz Smith and 9th Toral twilson
I'll then generate a list of random numbers from 1-16 (at random.org), and align that list with the alphabetical list. So, for example, if the first number is 14, then Blue Hen would have the 14th selection.
For audit purposes, I will have emails (with the random draws - using set #1 only)) automatically sent to Blue Hen, GO, and slizz. (Check your spam box if you don't see them).

I will plan to activate the draft on Sunday, March 11. Out first round will be untimed, after which we will have a 4 hour clock, starting in round #2. Only one clock applies for those on the turn. Moratorium from midnight-8am ET. If a previous pick is still missing, the commish may skip any subsequent picks until the draft gets current.
I am also implementing some additional time limits to attempt to coax habitually slow drafters into a better flow.
Here is the framework:- We establish a point system. If you timeout (i.e., you don’t make your pick before your allotted time expires), you accumulate 2 points.
- If you exceed three hours of clock time but don’t timeout (the clock will initially be set at 4 hours), you accumulate 1 point.
- Points will only be assigned after the first round.
- If you accumulate 2 points in total (either one timeout or two close calls), your clock time is reduced to 3 hours per pick for the remainder of the draft. That means your next timeout would be at 3 hours.
- If you accumulate 4 points in total, your clock is shortened to two hours. At 6 points, your clock is shortened to one hour. That’s the ultimate limit.
- Commissioners will need to monitor this, and will have the discretion to waive or defer penalties if they believe the draft is moving OK and the time delays haven’t been too aggravating (or if the offending drafter has a good story - e.g., significant time zone difference, pre-announced conflict, etc .) Commissioners will also need to enforce the shorter clocks, since the system won’t be able to handle different time limits for each manager.<.li>
Hopefully, by adding some incentives to avoid multiple lengthy delays, the penalties won’t have to be enforced. This system was used for the recent RIFC and RIHC drafts, and it did help to keep the draft moving through one or two habitual slowpokes.

I will be traveling to Montreal from PA on Monday the 19th and back on the 23rd, I should have internet access the entire time I'm there but I will set queues. I'm incredibly too anal to allow my clock to go over one hour.
As always my email or for those that have my cell, is the best way to reach me.
thanks!

Ohtani Question: ESPN lists him as 2 players - the pitcher version and the hitter version. I am assuming that he was drafted as a pitcher, and that the hitter version of Ohtani is still available to be drafted.
Is that right?

Incorrect. ESPN only lists him that way for stats.
There is only one player "unit". If you start him, you must put him in either a pitcher or hitter slot. If he is in a pitcher slot, then only his pitching stats count. If he is in a hitting slot, then only his hitting stats count.

Just an FYI I'm flying to Montreal today, I will be down for a better part of the afternoon and evening. I'll set Queues before takeoff and I'll ensure that I check during my layover.

When does the actual draft start?
**Just in denial right now. Pretty sure it started and I got a bad case of the broken hands. Management is not very impressed with Whit Merrifield right now if anybody wants to catch me in emotional state of panic, send offers early!

Sorry man, that stings. Injuries will hit all of us but you at least want to get to week one without a major one. I've been there the past two seasons. 2016 I drafted Pollock in the first rd and he promptly was lost for the season. Didn't even get one AB from him. Then last year I drafted Bumgarner 17th overall and he had his stupid accident. I got a whole 4 wins from him for the season. Not only that. I drafted Cueto and Carlos Gonzalez in the 3rd and 4th. Time to start grinding.

Oh my. I just looked back at that 2016 RIBC draft. Round 3/4 are definitely my weakness... took Choo/Fielder that year. And last year AAA I decided to gamble on young upside after that episode. Schwarber/Aledmys for round 3/4. So going back to reliable vets this year seemed best. Next year I'm just gonna pick someone I dislike in those rounds.
The rest of my 2016 RIBC draft is actually hilarious. Surprised I managed to get more than 10 roto points that year.
Always grinding! Cheers.

The draft should end today.
Please submit all remaining rationales ASAP.
I will enter draft results into ESPN (hopefully by tonight) and open the season, at which time all undrafted players will be on waivers.

Draft results have been entered at ESPN. Please check your rosters for accuracy.
Undrafted players are now on waivers. Waiver priorities are the reverse of the order in which we chose the draft order.
Thanks to those of you who have already completed your rationales. The rest of you - please get it done ASAP.
