Here we go....

There are still a couple of managers who have not yet completed rationale submissions. Those are now way overdue.

The RIBC league page for 2018 is now up and running. Split stats should be working OK as well, as far as I can tell. Let me know if you detect any apparent anomalies.

Ohtani looked awful today, so he's going on the trading block: I'm looking for Babe Ruth or something comparable.

Open to trading Smoak, Josh Bell, Willie Calhoun, Jeimer Candelario, Jorge Soler and maybe Nick Senzel. Looking for middle infield, preferably with speed.

I got a guy, he had a day today. It was Ruthian by his standards so far this year. Would an Ian Desmond get me Ohtani?
Not for real but the thought made me laugh.
There is no blister big enough or ankle sprained enough to make that one look tempting yet.

Anyone trading pitching though?
I got some underperformers all over the field that would go for cheap at this point.
Or a couple that are carrying me that I would resist trading, but if an ace was available, it'd be tough to fight it.
Gotta make up some major pitching ground.
MI might be my easiest spot to trade from if anyone wants to beat me to the punch.

Picked up 2 real gems today. 6IP, 13ER, 19BB+H.
NOW I see why they were free agents. Woops.

Gonna try another 2 tonight. Can't get much worse. Maybe bet some bucks that my guys will get lit up. Seems like easy money. Bound to backfire? Worth a shot.

Note to self: stop trusting your gut. Dumb gut.

Injuries injuries injuries. Now DeGrom did something to his elbow. That is not good! Puts me at 5 on the DL plus Gennett has been DtD all week. I feel like I need to make a trade to keep from falling farther behind on games played but but who wants to trade for someone on the DL?

If anybody wants to wait the 6-8 weeks on Cueto, I'm selling him cheap.

I can't take it anymore, Dexter Fowler:
Against left-handed pitching in 2018: 1/29 with an. .056 BABIP
In the month of May, against all pitching: 3/35 with an .038 BABIP
2018, overall: .149 BABIP

Regress to the mean, Dexter. Regress to the mean.

Bit of offense to trade from. (Knock on wood)
Got a couple offers out.
Adding saves threats is my current aim.
Or an ace would be sweet.
Could trade away Boxberger if I can't gain more save threats soon.

Bumgarner, Segura and Arenado pretty much off the market. Anything else has potential.

High k ratio, high saves potential, many low ratio innings would be my weaknesses to pry away some of the better names.

Counter my offers if there's slight interest, I'll be trying to limit to just a couple offers a day for the week. I will try to counter any offers I may get so feel free to budge into my queue if you see anything of interest!

Looking for Saves, would be willing to move Steals mostly as my really only Offensive strength. Michael Taylor anyone ?

Just curious if anyone knows how stat corrections work on ESPN. Nate Jones recently had 4 earned runs changed to unearned runs (the game was back on June 5). I see the change reflected on my active stats page and on his personal stats but it has never changed on my official team stats. When I look at my active stats page it says my team ERA is 3.78 but in the official league stats my team ERA is still at 3.84. Was June 5 too far back for my team stats to be updated?

Glitch? Or is there a time limit on stat corrections being applied to the stats used for league standings?

Yahoo just applied the Nate Jones correction a couple days ago so I asked someone with ESPN about it and they said they don't make any stat corrections after 7 days. I can understand that with a head to head league but in roto it really doesn't make any sense. +1 for Yahoo.

Desperate for some hitting - have plenty of pitching to trade: Ray, Lester, Corbin, Mikolas, Kimbrel, Greene. Looking for a top shelf hitter.

I hate the Mets offense so much. In 19 starts deGrom has now given up 23 earned runs. He has 5 wins to show for it. Five. Two of those wins were his first two starts of the season. I bet he thought he was on his way to a 10-win season. 1.68 ERA now, poor guy. Bet he wished he played for that other New York team.

Kind of amazed that my team has held up so well, given the sub-par performance of some of my higher draft picks.

Early picks:
Altuve - 1st round (pick #2), currently ranked #23 in the player rater.

Bellinger - round 2 (pick 31), ranked 105 on the player rater.

Dozier - round 3 (pick 34), ranked 165

Osuna - round 4 (pick 63), ranked 385

Khris Davis - round 5 (pick 67), ranked 113

The first draftee that is earning his pick is Wade Davis, in round 6 (pick 85), ranked 82

So what's producing the success?
Markakis - round 23, ranked #43 (rd 3 value)
Brian Anderson - F/A pickup in week #1, ranked 107 (rd 7 value)
Ryan Tepera - drafted rd 25, ranked 197 (turned out to be a valuable handcuff for Osuna)
Cishek - drafted rd 24, ranked 211
S. Schebler - drafted rd 21, ranked 171 (rd 1 value) in spite of missing some time on DL.
E. Rosario - drafted rd 12, ranked #32 (rd 3 value)
Wilson Ramos - drafted rd 20, ranked 191 (rd 12 value, & probably worth more due to position)
Gerrit Cole - drafted rd 7, ranked #13
L. McCullers - drafted rd 11, ranked #70
Clevinger - drafted 13, ranked 104

Rounds 20-25 were monster: Ramos, Schebler, Mauer, Markakis, Cishek, Tepera. Only Mauer has failed to perform better than that pick, and that's mostly due to an extended injury (at which point I dropped him.)

Other F/A pickups who have helped:
D. Dietrich
N. Ahmed - not great, but better than Marwin Gonzalez (rd 8), who was essentially a bust
S. Romo

If my early rounders can produce something closer to expected form during the second half, I should be in contention all the way, even if some of my over-achievers come back to reality.

Great job Guru, crazy finish but I couldn't make enough moves to catch you. Came to within 1 point a week ago then my SLG crashed and I couldn't gain in Saves or RBI anymore and I ended up hitting a plateau.

I counted yesterday and I could have made up 5.5 points from where I was at if it broke right, that included stealing OBP from you for the 2 point swing but I just couldn't do it. BMD held strong at 2nd too. For the last 2 months I felt like I had a chance. That's a huge contrast from where around ASB when I believe I was down around 12th. Then in Early August I was sitting in 8th and started to make a run at it.

I will say the Hoskins for Dee Gordon trade helped big time in boosting my RBIs, I made up a ton of ground there and moving Trout for Soto, Haniger and Bryant was huge as well.

Great season, can't wait for next year.

Bummer game 163 doesn’t count. Wish ESPN was more clear with that.

Congrats to Guru! Definitely deserved. Crazy that one more at bat from his guys could’ve lost him 2 points in obp and thus the crown.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about game 163, although I think we discovered the same thing once before. You never know if they changed the processing since then, though.

If today was going to count, I would have had to sweat it out, as there was a plausible scenario in which I could be caught.

Congrats Guru!
Nearly wire to wire in first, excellent draft and altogether excellent season.
Mirror image of my season, I'll be studying your rationales while I'm back in the minors next season!
Thanks for the competition this season to all, enjoyed watching the chase while digging my way to the bottom.

Well done, Guru. As usual, it got exciting the last couple of weeks, both at the top of the table (which I never even sniffed) and at the bottom of those who get to stick around, where 4 of us were swirling in places 5-8. I was convinced I wasn't going to survive, but somehow I did.
