I have now sent an email to all managers who participated in one of the RIBC leagues last year. Check your spam folder if you don't see it. Send me an email if you didn't get it.

Last year, we had three qualifying leagues - 2 AAA leagues, plus a AA league. Filling the AA league required that seven managers take a separate team. This year, I expect that we will not have enough to go with three qualifying leagues - but getting a head count is the primary purpose of the initial email.

At this time, Wolfer has agreed to commish one of the qualifying leagues. But Judy and Khahan have decided to opt out of baseball this year, and I thank them each for their multiple years of service in a commissioner's role. So, if we are to be able to offer even a second AAA league, I will need at least one other commissioner to step forward.

Be aware that this will be my final year of running the RIBC leagues. If the RIBC leagues continue in 2022, someone else will need to take over. Therefore, you should not assume that a top finish in a AAA league will necessarily get you into next year's top league.

I'm hoping to get a relatively final count of managers by the end of next week (Feb 19th), so that more formal organizing can begin.

Oof. Final year of running ribc leagues. that stings. Thanks for running it so well all these years Dave. Hopefully we can figure out a way to keep it rolling.

Reposting a comment I made in the 2020 retrospective regarding the 2021 season,

I think we may want to discuss dropping down the innings MAX going forward.

1350 for a 162 game season worked out to 500 for the 60 game season. Based on the short bench we have, and the fact that starters seem to go less innings than ever, it is getting harder to make this number without streaming.

It seemed like most of the RIBC leagues had half their managers streaming pitchers the last few weeks of the season just to catch up on IP to the max. Some of it becomes a race to the free agent pool each day, not really what our league is all about.

Some of this may be a factor of MLB teams having extra roster slots this season so they can pull pitchers earlier... But i still think it is harder than ever to make this number with our current settings.

I concur with JeffG. I believe it makes sense to drop the IP max to 1250.

Not all changes are for the best. I used to be an advocate for a switch to Quality Starts. Today the notion of a starter going 6+ innings is going the way of the whale-bone corset.

I do recall how difficult it was to reach the IP limit, and how much damage those streamed pitchers did to my ratios!

I'm OK with 1250. Looking at last season, I didn't make it to 500, becuz I could afford to take my foot off the pedal as we got to the end. Don't want to be streaming pitchers in September!

updating post 2.

slizz, Tosh, Perm Dude, twilson, and Jon Dowd are in. That brings the total to 30 managers who are in, with 2 openings left to fill.

Still awaiting responses from 6 others.

Bean has offered to serve as a second AAA commish.

I also have two people who said they would fill a spot if needed, but preferred to sit out otherwise. So I can fill that last spot with one of them, if needed.

Wolfer and Bean have offered to serve as commissioners, so that's set.

There are still five managers from last year who have not responded. I have emailed each of them twice so far. Although the deadline for responding has passed, I can hold the last spot open for one of them if he/she speaks up in the next few days.

friend of filthy?

The last manager in the Yahoo league (friend of filthy) is not yet confirmed, but will hopefully be nailed down shortly.

Each commissioner will set up the leagues at the respective sites and send out registration info for the league and for draftime. They will also set up league threads in the Baseball Leagues & Standings forum
