The draft has been activated. Our first round will be untimed, after which we will have a 4 hour clock, starting in round #2. Only one clock applies for those on the turn. Moratorium will be from midnight-8am ET. If a previous pick is still missing, the commish may skip any subsequent picks until the drafter gets current.I am also implementing some additional time limits to attempt to coax habitually slow drafters into a better flow. Here is the framework (same as last several years): - We establish a point system. If you timeout (i.e., you don’t make your pick before your allotted time expires), you accumulate 2 points.
- If you exceed three hours of clock time but don’t timeout (the clock will initially be set at 4 hours), you accumulate 1 point.
- Points will only be assigned after the first round.
- If you accumulate 2 points in total (either one timeout or two close calls), your clock time is reduced to 3 hours per pick for the remainder of the draft. That means your next timeout would be at 3 hours.
- If you accumulate 4 points in total, your clock is shortened to two hours.
- At 6 points, your clock is shortened to one hour. That’s the ultimate limit.
For any RIBC league using this approach, the commissioner will need to monitor this, and will have the discretion to waive or defer penalties if they believe the draft is moving OK and the time delays haven’t been too aggravating (or if the offending drafter has a good story - e.g., significant time zone difference, pre-announced conflict, etc .) Commissioners will also need to enforce the shorter clocks, since the system won’t be able to handle different time limits for each manager.This system has now been used for multiple RIFC, RIHC, and RIBC drafts, and it has helped to keep the draft moving through one or two habitual slowpokes. As usual, rationales for each pick will be required for this league, although on a two-round lag. I'll post procedures for posting rationales after the draft is underway. |

Trying to make sure I understand the weird wrinkle of the IL limits in this league.
If a player is not on the IL when drafted, but is put on the IL before the draft ends, can he be put on our IL?
What if the player is hurt before he is drafted, but the major league team hasn't put him on the IL yet, and doesn't until after the draft ends (but before the season starts)?

Essentially, you can't use the IL to warehouse a player who is already on the IL when you add him to your roster. The exception if that if a player is on the IL when you draft him, you can still put him on the IL (after the draft).

It's not really complicated, kdl212.
Anyone who is drafted is eligible to be put on IL, whenever appropriate. Period.
You just can't add a player after the draft who is already on the IL and put him on your IL.

Once Holt picks at 25.16, we are done.
First, please check your rosters at ESPN NOW to make sure they are accurate.
Next, please complete your rationale submissions, as needed.
Sometime on Thursday I'll finalize and release the draft results on ESPN, at which time all undrafted players will be on waivers. At that time, you will be able to add/drop players (including filling your extra bench slot) through waivers or F/A transactions, and you can also move IL players into that slot.
Waiver priorities will be set as the reverse of our draft selection round. So, since Da Bomb "selected" last (i.e., had to take whichever slot was left), he will have the top waiver priority.
