Clearly nobody doing the individual rationales... but I think we can probably gets some insight with the end of the draft writeup. Let me look for that set of questions.

RIBC Managers: This thread is for your (optional) overall comments on the draft. You may use the questions below as a guide, or simply say what you want to say.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

2. What were your favorite picks? What picks would you like to do over?

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

5. If you could start the whole thing over, would you do anything differently?

Non-managers are also free to post comments or ask questions

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

My Plan was to go out there and get what i thought were the best available players for the 1st 8 rounds and then fill in the remaining positions. I was very happy with how this went for me. I was shook a little when the pitching got so weak after round 8 and i did some reaching to fill in the spots. I missed out on RPs because the closers went before I was ready and I didnt want to break my plan.

2. What were your favorite picks? What picks would you like to do over?
Love the Teoscar Hernandez overall 58 and Bellinger overall pick 90 I think they were great picks for me.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?
I like GO's team, looks alot like mine and I like Zen's team, seems like he was picing off my sheet

4. What surprised you most about the draft?
The speed the closers went off the board. I didnt plan on taking one til round 12-14 at that points I was SOL.

5. If you could start the whole thing over, would you do anything differently? I think i would do the same thing I did with this draft. Missing out on a closer was minimal for some of the value I was able to get.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

Sad to say I was less prepared going into the draft this year than most - blame the lockout, blame my moving to the Jersey Shore, blame work being chaotic... but I still felt like I was fully prepared as the draft progressed, staying a few days ahead of the current round in vetting the top available candidates.

I tend to draft hitters pitchers more towards the ratio projections. Wanted to NOT ignore steals completely (although the more SB oriented players were grabbed way before I could grab them) and was not going to be bottom-2 in saves again this year having to chase all season. I was going to REACH for one, if not 2 closers before the run started. I was not going to grab MR early, instead focus the late rounds filling my hitting and hitting bench, because there are tons of K/9 WHIP ERA no save guys to choose from. I was also going to try to grab a top SP1, and then my SP2, SP3 and SP4 before other managers did theirs.

I'd say yes and almost all counts I stuck to plan. For the SP plan, no. I decided to wait when targets were not available.

2. What were your favorite picks? What picks would you like to do over?

I think Sevvy SP3 at 13.09 is a great risk/reward pick. Do not really love having DH only players but Nellie Cruz at 10.08 I feel like dropped and is a great value at the price. I hear MVP buzz this year for Corey Seager SS 3.09. If he is, then a very good pick for me. Never reach high for a catcher but Daulton Varsho 9.09 is an OF/C which should help me out as I usually do not keep a 2nd C on the bench and usually lose 40 games in that category.

No one I'd toss back, although my Eric Hosmer pic at 17.09 was not a fav, only because I still need a CI and he was the best of the rest. Will be looking to upgrade somewhere in season.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?
Uptown Bombers and Bean picked on either side of me so was more aware of their rosters and they look good. Having BOTH Ohtanis give you a first round pitcher and hitter in one pick, easily the top pick in the draft, so just on that pick alone mmikulka is going to be formidable.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

We had a few drafters timeout early, but for the most part the speed was a pleasant surprise.

5. If you could start the whole thing over, would you do anything differently?

Do not think so, I wish my starting pitching staff was a little stronger, and when I am light on SB, I may say differently later.

Never liked being asked to do a round by round analysis, but I don't mind these.

Writing up the round by round required more thought than I actually gave my picks. Guess I don't take this game serious enough.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

My plan was to get a pick in the middle so I didn't have to reach in middle/late rounds. I also planned to not piss anyone off by missing a pick while running two other slow drafts and playing in two other leagues. Check and check.

2. What were your favorite picks? What picks would you like to do over?

Best: Mike Trout with the over all 8th. Wow! Hope he comes back from his injury fully in tact. Worst: Every early pick that I did not take a closer. We are gonna do S+H next year, right?

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

Haven't studied it a lot, most years these projections are not worth much. Injuries and outlier poor years to top players can easily tank the best looking teams. That said, Look out for Holt every year. His final team will have a bunch of what were once closers in waiting, and he will stream many SPs, so his starting roster is not all there is to it.

4. What surprised you most about the draft? How fast closers went. They always don't last long, but this year was real fast.

5. If you could start the whole thing over, would you do anything differently?
Quit being a commish and focus on MY team so I can be more competitive.

I always like #5. The famous Cam Newton quote always comes to mind. "Hindsight is 50/50."

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

Offense early, with a preference for MI. Wait on pitching. Try to grab 2 established closers.

I wasn't able to draft MI as early as I usually do and ended up gambling on the upside of Bobby Witt. I'll need that to payoff to make up for a change in draft plan. I also missed out on closer #2. I just too many question marks on the remaining options and more value elsewhere.

2. What were your favorite picks? What picks would you like to do over?

Alonso - he is a homer pick, pun intended.
Also, Andres Gimenez and Jesus Sanchez, both of whom I feel can outperform their draft position.

Least fave is probably Austin Riley. At the time, I saw a drop-off in the 3B position but that is only true if Riley produces something close to last year. In truth, I feel like he could easily underperform.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

I like the looks of sandorkiss and kdl212 and also agree that mmikulka is off to a head start on all of simply due to Ohtani.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

Agree with the others on two points - the speed of the draft and the closer run starting earlier than expected. On that latter note, I am just now realizing as I type this out that the early run on closers was logical, given that by my own admission above, the quality choices faded away pretty quickly.

5. If you could start the whole thing over, would you do anything differently?

I really like Kopech this year, so maybe Kopech instead of Framber Valdez in round 12. At the time, I was worried about having 2 White Sox starters but that seems silly in hindsight.
