If we're going to have 26 roster slots, I agree with drafting all 26.
Any thoughts on how to handle an IL-slot violation (i.e. a player who was on the IL at the time someone added them from the free agent/waiver wire who is then placed in that manager's IL slot)? Hopefully it won't occur, but it may.
Seems we could either (1) say "fix your illegal roster pronto by removing the player from your IL slot and dropping someone of your choice" or (2) upon discovery, the commish simply drops the illegally-IL'd player from the manager's roster and sends the player back to the free agent pool via waivers.
I favor #2 - the quicker solution, and stronger incentive to follow the rule.

All violators will be shot at dawn. Cigarettes will be provided.
Seriously, I'm glad someone has thought about this kdl212. Expectation management is the key here. If someone isn't happy with what the commish is going to do, then they should be given the job of monitoring it themselves.

51- I am daring to be bold enough to say it WILL happen. Had been leaning to suggest something closer to the second suggestion after a lack of enforcement last season in AAA seemed to rub some the wrong way.
48- Still ahead of last year's pace but once Friday hits had been considering a clock similar to what we use for drafting. Your proposal seems easier- leaning this way now.
etc- With how many are wording it as 'if we use 26 man rosters', I can't help but wonder how many even want 26 man rosters now that we seem to be past this covid stuff? I personally don't mind putting 16 players back into the free agent pool but no real preference either way.
25 or 26? Let it be known if you do have a preference!

<58> Unless the intent is to penalize, that's better than just skipping him. Afterall, most people default to the earliest first round pick, especially during the early picks. Wished we would always use that rule and set the time limit to 6 hours or so.

Favor number 2, definitely!
Ok with 25 or 26. Sure helps deal with injury but also makes a painful dent in the free agent pool. 26 I guess.

For emphasis and to have it in the proper thread, posted on Tuesday in the other thread:
"For reference, last year draft selection took about 4 days, draft about 12 days. Start march 9th would finish us around march 25th, we have a buffer still.
Rough targets: Finish pick selection by March 13th. Finish round 10 by March 20th. Finish draft by March 27th. Opening rounds tend to have some rust and then we get flying by the middle rounds historically, feels like reasonable targets to me.
Deciding whether to use a clock and how aggressive of a clock if we aren't looking to hit these targets as we go."
Where we're at.. Sent twilson a reminder through yahoo before I went to bed. Sent another reminder directly through email when I got home from work today. Expectation set that 2nd pick will be given without a post made by midnight eastern.
We have our 3rd pick queued up, and I'm expecting that the next few managers will be bottled up and ready to make their choices throughout Saturday and into Sunday so that I can complete setting us up on Sunday evening for a draft start on Monday.
Whether we can go on a Saturday roll similar to the clinic put on by AAA on Thursday will be a strong factor in determining clock usage to start the draft. Would love to not need one for the first few rounds but we're not off to a promising start.

Starting midnight eastern will be on 12 hr clock. Noon eastern on Saturday becomes a 6hr clock. Midnight eastern on Sunday becomes a 3hr clock. Noon eastern on Sunday becomes a 1hr clock.
I will have the time to be more prompt with reminder emails as of this evening, for the next 2 weeks mostly. And in turn will have the time to enforce these guidelines and keep us on pace if necessary.

Seems like a strong lean to roll with 26 man rosters.
Previous post 46 did set an expectation that I'd allow until Sunday night for manager feedback, so just in case anyone has been going through a busy stretch in their real life and hasn't had a chance to do more than a brief check in yet, we are entering now or never mode. This is our weekend to finalize so we can start drafting Monday.

And if we end up majority wanting 26, then I agree, we should just draft 26 rounds to simplify.
In that case, the manager that drafts Ohtani simply has their final pick skipped to allow for owning both versions.

Latest update:
Mini streak of 6 picks were made. Not quite the 7 pick day type clinic that AAA showed was possible.
Arbitrary clock that was chosen to try to finish this step before Monday has now seen a time out. 12 hours starting midnight Saturday. As of 919pm eastern time that 12 hours had passed.
I'd personally rather pick near the end than right in the middle, so rather than give Holt the top available pick, I've emailed him and he can pick whenever he tunes in, much like if we time out during drafting.
For now, Blue Hen is on the clock and after noon Saturday is now a 6hr clock that will time out at 319am eastern time. Blue Hen hasn't signed up for Yahoo still after an extra reminder was sent so I kinda feel like Holt will still check in first.
If anyone is close enough to have alternate contact methods than email, might be worth trying to give Hen and Holt a poke.
Lets get these last 9 picks done and start treating this like an RIBC league!
Quick summary- Holt can pick whenever they tune in. Blue Hen can pick whenever they tune in. Once 319am eastern hits, KDL will also be able to pick.

Update before I sleep-
Blue Hen pick was posted at 22:00. KDL (Smith and 9th) is able to pick whenever they check in. We lose an hour during this stretch, so let's say once 5am eastern time hits, Jason will also be able to pick.
Considering the lack of an overnight pause in the expectations I posted, will stick with a 6hr clock until we hit noon eastern time, and then switch to 3hr. If we haven't wrapped by 6pm eastern time, that's when it will switch to 1hr.
So if it comes down to it, would be ideal if IAC could hold off until 11am eastern time (or 6hrs after the next selection) if we're needing to skip past the managers ahead of IAC.

One more peek before I called it a night, on to Jason. Sent email reminder as that seems to be helping.
337am eastern for the last pick, seems to have happened after clocks changed for the site, so we should be giving Jason until 937am eastern time.

Jason picked at 604am. Didn't expect to need to send reminder for IAC, just sent one. Actually figured I might be at the risk of timing out on my own choice. Had to get some tasks out of the way so I could watch baseball and didn't check in right away. IAC will be able to pick anytime they check in. I will email mmikulka shortly that they can also pick anytime they check in as well considering it has been 9 hours since Jason picked. And will give my own pick a couple hour buffer since I wasn't nudging things along like I figured I would. So Species can expect to be able to make their own selection in about 2 hours from now. I'll start organizing draftime around watching baseball in the meantime.

Draftime seems to have been set up, and invites sent. Individual Ohtanis have been removed. Feels like I'll be able to choose the rounds and draft order once everyone has joined, so I'm hoping everyone has a chance to check in by this evening.
Already processed the fee and have had a kind offer to cover the fee, which I have proposed be forwarded along to Rotoguru. I'm sure the baseball gods would love it if others were to follow suit! ($10 USD for reference if anyone is tempted)

Started it up with no clock to start.
From the last time Guru ran things RIBC 2021: "The draft has been activated. Our first round will be untimed, after which we will have a 4 hour clock, starting in round #2. Only one clock applies for those on the turn. Moratorium will be from midnight-8am ET. If a previous pick is still missing, the commish may skip any subsequent picks until the drafter gets current."
Would like to see how this goes to start. Sometime around 6pm eastern on Monday will decide whether we need to activate a clock prior to round #2.

Question about Yahoo - after games started today, I went to add a player and drop someone who was playing today. I got the following error message:
"A player has already played and is no longer editable for today. (Error #174)".
Is it true that a player whose game has started (say at 1:05 pm), can't be dropped until the next day? At ESPN, you could drop a player playing in a 1:05pm game at 1:06pm - you got their stats for the day, and they disappeared from your roster on the next day's lineup.

That didn't work. I advanced the roster to April 1, tried to drop a player who played today (and was in my starting lineup), and got the error message.
For what it's worth, if I try to drop a player who was on my bench and played today, I don't get the error message.
Assuming this is not user error on my end, why would you be able (at 1:06pm) to drop one player whose game started at 1:05pm but not another whose game started at 1:05pm simply because one of them is on your bench and the other is in your starting lineup?

That's the way it works with yahoo's fantasy football as well when the league allows same day transactions (where you can always drop a player if they were on your bench, even after their game). I've been in yahoo leagues that don't allow same day transactions which is a huge pain because, for example, there's no way to pick up a player to plug in to your lineup for a day unless you rostered them the day before. The only plus being that you can drop a player at any time.

Players actively in your starting lineup are frozen from add/drops until the overnight processing.
You can drop anyone on your bench. You can drop anyone whose game has not started. You can add any player whose game has started (or not). You can add a player and start them immediately any time before their game starts.

sorry missed that one kdl. I'm not even sure there's precedent for something like that? My gut says I'd give something like 5-15 min grace to realize an oops and make a post here or email me, something with a time stamp. And best bet to really get my attention is send a bogus trade offer like your worst for my best, with comment attached. Honestly emails tend to get buried with more important and more distracting emails too regularly to suggest that as best option.

Congrats mmikulka, great season man! I think it was pretty much over a month ago. And thanks to everyone in the league for playing. It was fun, hope we're back for another one next season!
I originally thought I drafted starters too heavily, when the actual problem is that I drafted the wrong pitchers. The bad thing about drafting SP's early is that you just keep running them out there, letting them clobber your ratios over and over again:
Dylan Cease 141.0 4 169 4.60 1.43 Nestor Cortes 59.1 5 59 5.16 1.30 Grayson Rodriguez 26.1 1 35 7.86 1.90
And then traded for C.Javier to repair some of the damage and got: 58.1 4 38 5.09 1.53 So Dylan Cease, I don't care if you do play disc golf, you've made my no draft list.

And holt, I had the same issue. Also had Cease as my #1, but I kept running him out there hoping that he would magically turn back into the 2022 version. I followed that up with Hunter Greene (sucked, then injured), Rasmussen (injured), Sonny Gray (good, but couldn't buy a win), Cabrera (sucked), and German(decent for where he was drafted, but suspended). What I discovered over the years is that I absolutely hate starting pitchers. They are so unpredictable and/or too injury prone.
It was fun having the best player on the planet (Acuna) on one of my fantasy teams. That almost never happens to me. His numbers would be even better in a straight 5x5 but this was pretty good either way.
